02:15 - How Often Should Router Updates Come??? Debra writes, "You folks have said that I should look for routers that get updated regularly or switch to a 3rd-party firmware. How often should the updates come? My router hasn't had a new firmware update in quite some time. How can I tell if this is a problem? If so, how should I go about finding a different firmware?" Great question!!!

28:30 - Fix My Family's WiFi: One of Patrick’s friends called and said “I’m getting on a plane at 4PM and I need to fix my brother and sister in law’s WiFi before I go. What should I do???” We talk placement, why a new router is a good idea (and why it should be AC), killing off dead spots... and why a second WAP is probably a better idea than a WFi Extender!

31:18 - Add More HDMI Ports: Greg writes, "I'm running out of HDMI ports on my Denon AVR-791. With TV set-top, game consoles, Roku, etc. ports are rare. Is there a good HDMI switch that would also work well with Logitech Harmony remotes?" Greg links to a Monoprice switch, and we talk about it, universal remotes, and Heronfidelity's current pick from J-Tech Digital in the video!

LOL "Let it out of the closet, let it be a router!" love it
+stryk187 Darren almost fell out of his chair at that one!
loved how you talked about how you use your leatherman a few episodes ago! bought mine when I was in Oregon when I was 15 years old... I am 35 now, it still works and I use the Be-Jesus out of it every day!
A great show as usual. Thanks
+F. Rose And thank you!
TSA Pre Check is like going through security pre 9/11. And yes, the longest I've ever been in line at TSA Pre Check was 10 minutes at the Seattle Airport.
+Rumblestrip.NET YES THIS. Isn't it hilarious that now we have to pay them for the perk of skipping the long lines?
The 128 GB USB would be great to use with my Roku 3. I use an external hard drive or regular usb stick. They are bulky and a pain. This is going to make things a lot neater. Thanks.
For anyone looking to buy a router, whatever choice you make, please just make sure that you ensure that it supports 3rd party firmware. If you do not have the budget to but a new one every year or 2, then do not but the router that was released a few weeks ago, look for ones that have been out long enough to get a 3rd party firmware release, or at least an announcement of one coming.
Budget routers stop receiving updates around 6-12 months after release. High end ones tend to be supported for about 18 months. I am not sure about you, but I don't believe that an AC2600 router today, will be completely obsolete 18 months from release.
36:42 I curious about your cats. What happened? :)
Cool shirt Snubbs!
+Allan Zieser Thanks!
Wow, just wow.
Good routers don't let you use the default admin password nowadays luckily, THIS should be a requirement in a modern standard as it would be so easy to implement!
I like the IFIXIT Pro Tech Toolkit, but I bought a TEKTON Everybit set with a Lifetime Warranty to later find out (after emailing Matt at TEKTON support) that only the driver, and none of the bits are covered. How does the IFIXIT Lifetime Warranty compare?
So what is the deal with the Android powered TV constantly glitching out every episode behind Patrick and Shannon? Or is it just on a video loop?
+Daniel Voyles Hahaha, I saw it too! I wonder why they use a video loop, and not a static image, disabling the screensaver or something :). Or a longer video, so we don't see when it start over again :)
+Almarma It's on a 30 minute loop, but whenever the video is done, it takes a second to restart. We'll make a larger one eventually, but that is low on the priority list.
TekThing I understand! :). It's not a big problem, it's just funny :)
I'd prefer SeatGuru remain unknown :)

Uhhhhwwww. Paid 50 € for a SanDisk UltraFit 128gb in germany. Well its still 45 € on Amazon so... I'm a bit unhappy with this Stick. Got the 32 gb version and 128 gb version. The 32gb version gets good speeds (60 MB/s write / 120 MB/s read constantly). The bigger one only gets around 30 MB/s write / 110 MB/s read at the beginning and drops down drastically on writes (18 MB/s)... Oh and both of them become pretty hot.
The Ifixit tool Kit is not the one you showed it's the old one, that I already have.
