00:00:00 Poland With over 2,000 road deaths in 2021, Poland ranks poorly in EU road safety. Speeding, reckless behavior, and drunk driving are major issues. The “free-flow” toll system introduced on the A4 motorway in 2021 has led to frequent accidents. Police use high-powered cars to track offenders, and fines for repeat speeding offenses have risen to €1,000. 00:51:00 Bulgaria Bulgarian roads have one of Europe’s highest fatality rates, with the Trakia highway particularly unsafe due to heavy traffic and poor maintenance. The highway averages 250 accidents monthly, with corruption allowing bribes to bypass safety checks. In November 2021, Europe’s worst road accident in a decade occurred here, killing 44 people. 01:45:33 Spain Spain's AP9 and AP7 highways are notoriously dangerous, with frequent incidents involving drunk drivers, runaway trucks, and dense fog. The AP7, a key trade route, sees heavy truck traffic; in 2021, 10% of fatal accidents involved trucks. Police frequently stop overweight trucks, and dense fog has caused multiple pileups, including a 30-car crash in 2014.
@ It’s a documentary about roads and that driving is perilous in Poland. It’s not about nuclear fusion. And why would someone translate from Polish to English via French? We have people from multiple backgrounds and languages on the team. I think we get it. But thank you for your quality control.
Romania is alone a documentary of 2 hrs 😂 however have to say, I drive in Romania but I have also driven in Bulgaria a couple of times and boy, to me seemed more dangerous than Romania. But Romania is also very very bad none the less.
In Poland if you drive within the speed limit you will have people driving inches behind you, brake checking you etc. this is such a norm on Polish motorways it is unbelievable
I have been driving on Greek roads all my life. A year ago, I visited Poland and rented a car for 8 days. The roads were amazing, and the driving culture was impressive. Everyone seemed to follow the traffic laws, and I didn’t witness any reckless driving-whether in the city or on country roads. I’ve never felt more “relaxed” while driving, as I’m used to the chaotic driving style often seen on Balkan roads. Driving in Greece is the most stressful thing, taking into consideration how many motorcycle drivers there are and how many people are arrogant and selfish while driving.
All these accidents at toll stations are Poland's DOT fault. These abandoned toll stations have become obstacles on the highway. They should get rid of them and use overhead cameras and scanners.
I was reminded of the ancient, non-used toll gate from San Diego into Coronado in California. Although I don’t think people crash into too often, but the reason was always given that it wasn’t torn down because it would interrupt the road for too much time for it to be worth it and they wanted to keep it as a sort of “speed bump”.
When in Poland as a pedestrian do never ever go over the zebra stripes when cars are approaching. Stand on the edge and look both ways. When drives have seen you and slow down, then you can get ready to walk over the road. When walking on the road, look left and right to make sure that other cars are not trying to overtake the car that has stopped for you, because trust me there are people literally overtaking cars that stopped for pedestrians. And remember, most cars will not stop for you when you want to walk over the road. Because they do not agree with pedestrians having the right of way when crossing the road. That's why you always wait until you are sure the car will stop. (This rule also applies when you have a green light).
I never expected to see a country with worse roads than Hungary, Bulgaria’s roads are far worse. Thanks to our supreme leader and chief Mr Orban, Hungary is the second poorest country in Europe. Supreme Leader may you rule us forever and protect us from all the enemies.
41:09 I say it all the time, once you give someone a right of way, their intelligence goes out the window. As I kid, I was taught to look 2/3 times to each side before stepping on pedestrian crossing. Also what taught me a life lesson was that I was hit by a car, when going on green light as pedestrian. It doesn't matter if you have a priority, it matters if you can procced safely. Nowadays kids, and adults don't look and just go which in the end cost them life.
With the issue of toll gates. Here in South Africa, we still do have manually operated toll gates. All of my life, I never had or seen a vehicle crashing into one of the toll gates. I have only seen breakdowns, but not accidents.
@@MantasNan Bro, the bikes are just a matter of city planing. They are not on the highways, where this man was caught going that fast. It has nothing to do with how crowded a country is, but about sticking to the rules and getting those that speed outside any reasonable tolerance off the road.
Do they have driving schools in Bulgaria or one learns driving by being on the wrong for the 1st time? As there's no regard for road rules whatsoever....It's a mini HELL out there.
Yeah, in my experience, it's the bmw drivers acting narcissistic & vain. I just quietly laughed at them, driving my humble Honda, which I paid in cash off the dealership, while knowing the bmw owners are still making payment plans. Just long term renting....
51:00 A truck can only drive with 90Km/h, no matter how much the driver hits the acceleration, the truck its limited by controler mechanism to a 90 km/h. Unless going downhill
Not even if he cancels the speed limiter, then it can drive without problems even at 120 km/h and this practice is often found among Turkish, Bulgarian, Romanian, Polish, etc. etc. drivers. thus violates the driving schedule without the tachograph recording this, this happens because the authorities in Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, etc. they don't do their duty, and the drivers are asked to drive as many km as possible in a single day, others also work with two tachograph cards. Whoever says that it is not true is a liar, once you arrive in Western Europe things change because of the stinging fines and the presence of control agents on duty.
