Thanks deadmeat and Zoran
1st off sorry for no kill count from last weeks still recovery from the California wild fires here folks! also this this weeks kill count is brought to you by "28 years later"
in theaters this summer of 06/20/25 A.K.A June 20 2025 now that's settle let's go back to Jolley Britain & get to the kills!
When are you going to make a mk1 kill count
Not ONE Hawkeye joke (because Jeremy Renner is in this movie)?
@@grantpowell4135Too bad they’re releasing it two WEEKS later (after saying they’d be doing video game Kill Counts the first Friday of every month).
I love 28 weeks later but it frustrated me so much that everything could have been avoided by one extra security guard to keep Don away from his wife
And if the security weren’t so bad that some kids were able to bypass them to bring back their infected mother
ye, not having a carrier under extreme lockdown seems like a bad decision
Same bro, same, I'm pretty sure Wow such gaming said the same thing.
Or having restricted access to top secret areas like normal
blame the writing. they nerfed NATO so hard for no reason
Ngl, having one's eyes gouged out while strapped to a table/unable to defend yourself is legit one of the worst ways to die
Its not just what happens to her, its that shes screaming like an animal while it happens
This scene made my hyperventilate in a theatre and almost faint
@@danwilliams2551 i mean, do you blame her? the sheer terror of being killed by something that used to be your husband- turned infected, after surviving the horrors of the outbreak would be nightmare fuel
She survived all that long while slowly losing her sanity, just to die that brutally
Reminds me of the scene in The Crazies with the principal and the pitchfork 😨
Felt like 28 decades waiting for this kill count
Its here now woop woop
I will attempt to keep myself from actually watching the movie until 28 lightyears later.
@@nekolathenekothat’s like saying I’m gonna wait 28 miles to watch this
Could you imagine if James had made it 28 Dead Meat episodes later instead? 🤣
That’s what I was thinking 😂
I love how this movie doesnt give anybody plot armor. Even Hawkeye gets offed midway through.
Yeah the only plot armour isn’t really even plot armour because they have a genuine reason to still be alive (immunity)
"OMG ITS LIKE DA ACTOR FROM DA MARVEL MOOVY"
This was the first movie that did this for me... I still remember the sock watching protagonists die
23:29 "Good on actor Mackintosh Muggleton and his Harry Potter ass name" that caught me off guard 😂
Not funny Americans are acc the worst
His last name does sound like a character from a Harry Potter film. I guess I wasn't the only person who thought of that.
that's because it contains a word actually used in the franchise, m*ggle. it's canonically a slur against non magic users. just another reason of many why you shouldn't be involved in all that, it was problematic from the beginning
Don made the right decision by ditching his wife at the house. The army made the terrible mistake of having absolutely horrible precautions against a new outbreak. Leaving an infected woman completely unguarded was dumb asf
All in all... Robert Carlisle is the man
Yea I'm confused at how he's a coward. He bodied like 3 infected with the crowbar in the beginning but they got completely overrun. Such a weird take to me
Always hated how he was painted a bad guy fir that. He would have died if he stayed. Full stop
For me, it's not that Don abandoned his family, it's that upon seeing his wife, making such a stupid choice of kissing her KNOWING what's going around, and the fact he bypassed multiple security measures to do it, and then ultimately destroyed multiple lives after. I was SO angry he survived the fire bombing.
@@Blast2224He didn’t know she was infected, they just said “we’ve found your life” nothing about she’s got the infection so we can’t blame him too much. Dumb af storyline though she’d have been killed at the house & never got back to London
Agreed. I think it's okay to hold him accountable for lying to his kids but his initial decision to leave his wife behind was absolutely the right call.
I still to this day struggle to watch the scene of Don viciously killing Alice. Something about a woman being so brutalised while she's strapped to a gurney unable to fight back in any way, being savagely beaten and bitten by her rage-filled infected husband, while that same haunting music from 28 Days Later (when poor Frank turns) plays over it.
Not to mention Robert Carlyle plays a TERRIFYING infected.
Same, I'm pretty desensitised to horror movies and violence/gore, but something about the absolute helplessness and realism of that scene just really gets me
Truly a scene that is too hard to watch at times
Agreed
Who is scarier
Marco or Infected Frank?
That part always scared me soooooo much growing up. I had an often angry stepdad and a mom I was/am very close to and it just felt too real.
I've always hated the "Don was a coward" stuff. His wife was going to die (as far as they could know), him going back wouldn't have saved her, and would have left their kids orphans. In her place I would want my partner to survive, not sacrifice themselves pointlessly and leave our kids without any parents at all because I screwed up.
Facts bruh. People always aim their pitch forks at Don but not his wife who decided to argue against better judgement and let that kid in.
Thank you! I came here to say this. It's like what marriage vow say I'll put you before everyone but a random stranger!?
i think he had a totally human response.
he should have explained that to the kids so! instead of lying to them

Yeah not a good idea when u have a teenager girl as ur daughter.
I will never forget the first time I saw the intro sequence. I was like 15 years old, and I couldn't get pass those first 20 mins of the movie, the scene where the zombies are chasing Don in the hill and music blasting in the bg was truly terrifying and I feel good to see that modern media recognizes how good the soundtrack of the movie is
I was like 10 yrs old, haven't ever seen the first movie, and my older cousins brought me along to the movie theaters to see this. I had no idea what this movie was going to be about considering the title was just "28 weeks later". The walk to the basement parking lot after a late night viewing still resonates with me to this day lol
Lmao same. It premiered on Starz or something and I was like HOLY SHIT 😅
The mom surviving only to be killed by the dad again is one of the most brutal kills in zombie movies ever and that says something
My older brother and his ex, got invites to a sneak peak to see the film. He invited myself and my little brother to it. We got to the theater and they had guys in hazmat suits and guys in Army gear leading us to the screen where it was being held. We all enjoyed the film and had a blast while watching it.
That's so sick dude. Definitely something to remember
I wish I could of experienced that 😭 that sounds awesome your lucky
It was awesome, I wish I kept the flayer that they handed out. It was cool
that’s dope as hell man!
😅 that sounds a bit too much like in Scream 2 how everyone going to the premiere of STAB got the costume the killer where is and a fake knife...
"Don trainspots his kids" is one of the most under rated sleeper lines i've heard in a kill count
Is it cause Don is in trainspotting too? The one with Obi Wan
@@captainhomie6156it is!
Absolutely 😂🫡
@@captainhomie6156 He is. Robert Carlye (Don) played Begbie in both Trainspotting movies.
That and "he climbs into the air vent so he doesn't die hard"

Rip to zoran who became infected food lol
@grantpowell4135 I hope he has already finished the next video game Kill Count.
;)
@@jesusromanpadro3853 if not that series ended with just 1 episode lol
@jesusromanpadro3853 lucky for us he survived the infection but needs to recover from the James beatdown lol
Oh, he did end the Kill Count. ;)
That opening chase is legit what nightmares are made of. You see a reasonably fit man sprinting full blast and the infected are still catching up quickly and closing in. Makes you wonder if you wouldve been able to outrun them
Personally I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to. I'd just off myself on my own terms
Pretty sure that the Rage Virus constantly pumps adrenaline into your system and overrides the parts of the body that prevent us from overexerting ourselves. So, no, you wouldn't be able to outrun them.
You could ride a bicycle.
1:52 Either my eyes are going before the dreaded 30 or they had to censor ZocDoc for some reason
Yeah I have no idea why that happened either lol
yeah with no explanation either. it's weird.
Probably the shotgun?
Its not censored now. For some reason.
@@hmmyes2305same
This debatably has one of the strongest opens in horror movie history. The score, the build up the scenes all intensely terrifying!
Totally agreed!
But it's just the same score as the fina!e of the first film and they overuse it
@@geedee1264 I can see that take and respect it but, I think the intensity is a bit amplified for this opening scene & I like the continuation of it.
@@anotherealm47 That's fair
@@geedee1264 its not overused at all. its a famous track and you often hear it outside of the movies, thats why you think its overused

28 Weeks Later is an underrated horror film. Don leaving his wife behind so he can survive without her, but then he gets infected with a kiss after reuniting with his wife and then gouging her eyes in a fit of rage is a brutal story arc. I hope 28 Years Later shows us the events leading up to the infection before spreading.
Oh yeah Alice got done dirty being strapped to the gurney
Same
Same!!!!!
From the looks of the very beginning of the 28 years later trailer, we will be shown the initial outbreak, or at least part of it. Can't wait!
idk I always felt like this movie was overrated. I think the plot is just dumb and the movie abruptly ends and it just feels so unsatisfying I actually enjoyed the movie while watching it but the plot holes were too much
12:24 If I had a nickel for every time Rose Byrne starred in a movie where Heterochromia was mentioned, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice...
A less groovy mutation
8:28 flash warning for 4 seconds "insidious franchise" to "comedic actress"
13:43 flash warning for 24 seconds "baha blast protocol" to "but she's no match for a mosh"
15:08 flash warning for 20 seconds "i still love you Rose" to "breach containment"
Don was a true beast at the start dude literally fought and killed at least 3 rage infected with a crowbar
Recently watched some reactions to the movie and it's infuriating how many people called him a coward or a pos for escaping the house after being overrun.
He’s Rumplestiltskin! He did the same thing to his son in OUAT!
😂😂😂
@SolidSnake240 He tried more than once to save the family. And you can't blame the wife for wanting to save the kid. But if he would go to save her, he would have died.
@@hanzojapanah I can blame her. I agree with the sentiment but to actually go against better judgement and putting everyone else at risk was just dumb
#1 rule in any apocalypse don’t go trying to save people who show up to your safe house because they always bring problems
Ill say for just about any horror movie. Happened in the first Purge and that ended poorly for the family

Except if they didn't let him in then he would still have attracted the horde.
You know, that Don fellow looks like he will have a complete and complex emotional arc that leads to redemption.
Rumplestiltskin OUAT reference? :3.
the opening scene was probably the best ive seen on the big screen. absolutely intense, i remember being 15-16 years old and gripping my seat in awe.
Don did the right thing by running!
There was absolutely no way he could have saved his wife.
She was dumb for letting the kid in, and even dumber for trying to save him from a swarm!
12 years old. My dad decided to take me to this movie in the cinema and I had no idea what we were going to watch. The opening scene was 10000000000x heart pumping, especially when they were emerging from the hills. Still to this day, It is engraved in my memory that shot.
Epic dad moment. Mine took me to see Alien when I was like 9. One of my favorite memories
@@Beautyofanime1my friends and I snuck into the movie at 16. Horrifying.
dude the same thing happened to me but with world war z. I just thought it was gonna be a generic action movie, i didn’t correlate the ‘Z’ with zombies, and it caught me so off guard i was so scared lmao
"He's done well for himself since his....uhh....divorce *shows that scene*" HAHAHAHAHA
This film's opening is so iconic the Boondocks will recreate this opening in a humorous recreation, beat for beat
Glad I though the same thing
Fenton!, FENTON!! ...FENTOOOON!!! That clip of the dog chasing the deer and the owner exasperatedly calling for him lives rent free in my head whenever I see the (admittedly fantastic) opening scene of the guy running from the infected. It just goes so well.
Hahahaha I love the Fenton clip 😂😂
24:50 there's two things about this ending I used to think about.
1. I thought an alternate ending to the film would be something like ending with the world infected.
2. It's confirmed that this ending is retconned
Is it just me or Jeremy Renner always get roles which his characters are great shots
Executives don't really have much imagination. Hence the term 'type-casting'.
As another 54 year old white guy, I can promise you most of us are. It's probably a genetic condition.
Apparently he's not such a great shot IRL😏
@@oblivionfan345Tony 28 Weeks Later, the MCU and The Town prove you wrong
@@DodoRibeiro-ts6po I was making an edgy joke because he threatened to shoot himself to his ex-wife and shot into the ceiling instead.
I believe Don was more smart than a normal infected bc he was infected directly from his wire, a carrier only. You can tell, bc as they fire bombed the city, Don was literally hiding from the fire. He was also seemingly stalking his kids, as you saw him there and disappear as well as find them in the subway.
Maybe the intelligence of the infected is somehow tied to their general feeling of purpose. Don's turn, as you said, is very personal and directly ties him to "finding his kids".. maybe that kind of emotion helps the brain keep focus even when under the effects of the virus.
If I recall correctly, the dad in the first movie is able to resist the virus for slightly longer than usual, fearing for his daughters life.
Imagine what they're like in 28 years later
@Kaijuenjoyer-nv7qnYeah i suspect this would be the main theme of 28 days later. Bunch of infected with primal brain. Like a primitive society
A bot stole your comment
Robert is genuinely one of my favourite actors, seeing him be able to play so many different characters over the years and be so fucking funny in many of them just makes him really interesting to watch, honestly think he carried once upon a time long after it should have ended xD
He is an underrated actor, Don is one of the best characters of this sequel. Hell, i even enjoyed his performance as the villanous wizard in that Eragon movie
I saw him for the first time in Ravenous, and loved his performance in that. What a fun movie too!!!
Begbie in trainspotting is one of the most terrifying characters in movies. I've known people like that who you just cannot predict what they're gonna do next, volatile, over sensitive. Excellent performance.
The cold open for 28 WEEKS LATER was parodied in THE BOONDOCK in the episode cold open “Stinkmeaner 3: The Hateocracy” but instead of the infected it was just multiple Stinkmeaner.
I'm using your video to very specifically test my PC so having 6 instances of this video saying things like "They're everywhere man!" back to back to back was fun thanks for making this test enjoyable. Yes i kept the sound on for all of them.
Will we ever get a Kill Count kill count where we count every time a Dead Meat crew member is killed, and zoran surely takes home the most times killed award?
Probably if/when the channel ends, idk, I'm not a RUclipsr.
Probably will happen for an anniversary
Even after all these years that opening with Don running away from the house, and the score kicking is still one of the best scenes in cinema.
This movie is another one of the fewer cases where adding a kid actually was a good idea. Like the kid characters are actually legitimately good in this. Whenever a sequel adds a kid or multiple kid characters, it’s always 50-50 and I’m glad this movie does it pretty well.
OK. They went into a hazard zone with dead and rotting meat, the stink would have stopped them in their tracks. Nah. They were idiots from the start, gotten from both their idiot parents.
I have said this so many times when talking about the opening.
Don was 100% in the right in leaving his wife.
Don was warning his wife so many times about how they need to get to their family. Don then tells her not to let the kid in and warned her about what would happen. Then she runs after the kid and gets cornered and expects Don to be able to kill a big group of the infected. Because Alice also inadvertently gets Jacob killed, because had she listened to Don, they would've been able to get to the boat faster and all 3 of them could've probably escaped.
Can I just say James. Thank you. I studied this movie as my final assessment for my college degree and to see someone finally show the same love for it as I once did…. God I love it. Thank you…
Ok, this is basically Rumpelstiltskin story from OUAT. This guy is basically playing the same character twice. Nice
I’m surprised that James didn’t make a Rumple joke in this video 😂
@LauraBwayMorris ikr, I remember the couple references he did to charming in the Descend 2
This movie always surprises me how many people think Don is awful for the opening. This scenario is like your wife falling out of a plane. It's 100 % death if you "help" by jumping out after her. Plus, you have kids you need to get back to
not entirely.. more like.. your wife is falling out of a plane.. you have 5% chance of doing some insane stunt to save her and 95% chance that the stunt will fail, killing your both... It is extremely likely that attempted to save his wife would've gotten them both killed, but its that lingering uncertainty that makes the character's struggle feel real and earned.
But yea, obviously it's silly to blame him.
it really is insane how Don is the only sensible person in the opening sequence lmfao.
Like, yeah, don't open the door for some random kid, don't peak out the window to see what he was running from, don't try to save random kid when he tries to hide in an open closet...
Agree. Don did nothing wrong in my eyes.
I don't comment ever but this movie is one of my favorites so it got me. I struggle with concentration due to a TBI but for some reason when you open so aggressively it pulls me in. Even the sponsor freaked me out and I couldn't look away as I freaked out. Then you approach these films with such a educated, funny, and approachable attitude. It weirdly calms me down. Please continue you're work because it give me the excitement my brain needs with the calmness that helps my stupid PTSD brain what I need to work through it. its so methodical and that helps so much.
It’s wild how the original ideas for the sequel are a lot better then what we actually got.. i also read the original script for 28 weeks later as well and imo it’s slightly better then what we actually got again..
This is a great flick, but I can't get over how one family's failure to follow common sense rules basically killed the world. Like, the kids just had to stay in the safe zone...and if they didn't stay: then the dad just had to *not* sneak in to the quarantine lab to beg mom's forgiveness...
Don't forget mom's antics with the kid (multiple times in a row).
the scene with his wife in the hospital is one of the dumbest but understandable things ive ever seen- they KNEW what the zombie virus was and he still decided to breach containment to kiss her
Dumb? Very. Understandable? Idk bout that. Dude abandoned all common sense in that moment for the plot to move forward. They could've came up with something better than that.
@@SolidSnake240 true, but also if you saw your wife, who you assumed was dead because of your actions, with allll the guilt associated with it, you'd also be irrational id think
@@SolidSnake240Nah. His actions, while foolish, are understandable. My ire is towards the military, who should have put a lot more protection detail on what was basically the UK's most important citizen.
The thing that makes me mad wasn't the breaching cause sure maybe you'll feel so overwhelmed you abandon your common sense, personally I think it was very sweet and cute but why then rage and kill your wife for the consequences of our own actions? He's just fucking stupid and shitty
Guilt is a hell of a drug - Rick James
I’ve been watching you guys since high school and now I’m almost finished with college, so it’s pretty surreal seeing my favorite zombie movie finally getting the Kill Count treatment!

@tshelby5212 But it's in the same series.
Just finished watching 28 weeks later last night and I wake up to see this posted.
Perfect timing. 👏👏👏
The beginning sequence with Don running in the field still gives me chills.
Robert Carlyle is an incredible actor portraying both a survivor and an infected in a single movie
But wait, there was nothing the father could do to save his wife. He had seconds before the group of infected would arrive, and the infected after his wife was right next to her.
The most he could do was pull a quiet place and yell to save her while she ran away. Which would lead to her getting infected anyway. Well at least the kids would remain safe, and the infection would truly be gone.
Fun fact: Sam is implied to be the boyfriend of catatonic Karen from the prologue. She says her boyfriend Sam left to get help and assumes he died, but presumably he ditched her and the left of the group. Really makes you feel less bad for him going out the way he does…
Sick mention of Paul Kasey there. If you every watch Doctor Who from 2005 onwards and see a humanoid alien or monster, chances are Paul Kasey's in the suit.
@@PoliceAlarm I was thinking exactly that when I saw Paul get a shoutout! One of the OG Doctor Who aliens 🤟
I live and work on The Isle of Dogs… locals certainly call it “The Island” and, unless you’re saying road bridges disqualify it, then they’re right to do so. There’s a large dock (South Dock) running West to East across the middle, connecting to the Thames at either end.
It's idiotic to think Don 'abandoned' his wife or he was a coward in the situation at the beginning of the movie.
If the writers wanted us to be conflicted and debate whether or not Don made the correct choice or not, they should've put his wife and that kid in a dangerous situation where Don MIGHT have had a shot at saving them. That situation was literally just 100% they're all dead (except his wife because she was immune to the virus, but we didn't know that at that time).
Even after 18 years later,, 28 Weeks Later still has one of the BEST openings of any horror movies ever!
Fun Fact: Robert Carlyle, the actor who played Don, also plays Rumplestiltskin in the Amazing Show Once Upon a Time.

As a mother of two, I'm not allowing that door to be opened because I'm trying to get back to MY KIDS. Doesn't mean I'm not gonna sob in the closet after hearing that little boy getting eaten. She sacrificed everyone in that house because she didn't think about her actual children.
He also made a mistake for listening to her, knowing she's probably in need to Mother anything as a mammal.
25:57 Wait, there’s another 4,000 Kill Count aside from Dude Bro?! I can’t tell what the picture is, but could someone please tell me what it is? Also, I apologize for missing it.
That is Return of the Living Dead!

That opening scene where the Dad is running for the boat to escape and the zombies are running down the hill to get him. The camerawork and cinematography is 10/10

omg... that's it! it bugs me so much because he looks so familiar.
15:07 "I still love you, Rose." Dont we all
9:43 missed opportunity to say "It's a thankless job but somebody's gotta do it" from Repo the Genetic Opera 😂❤
Always love watching these, still one of my favourite channels. Love the 28 x series, super happy you're covering the 2nd film finally!
