Side note, it’s really the division structure as to why you had the same teams always making it. Bama/Auburn/LSU have dominated the west and UGA/Fla/Tenn have taken turns in the East. The years that any of those programs were down were typically down years for that whole division which is why schools like Arkansas, Mizzou and SC couldn’t compete with the other division winner who likely had the stacked side that year
