Soo's defense is like those fake martial artists who gets attacked one by one
God as a Zerg player the second game gives me anxiety. I'm obviously not at SoO's level but I can feel him getting rattled by the drops and the constant back and forth between trying to attack and stop Maru building up again and trying to defend the handful of marines who have the ability to scuttle his drone count/entire tech tree. I really wanted him to just have a good fight and seal the deal.
maru plays in a different league than soo, 100 supply down, but still exerting pressure for many minutes, that's quite an announcement.
You can only do that when the opponent doesn't know what position they are in, because otherwise they just walk up and kill you. So it's more the opponent's failing.
It's feigning strength, dont mistake that he could ever actually be competetive 100 supply down, the harder he hit the clearer it would be theres nothing
@@Leonhart_93Interesting take. "You can only do that if". You can only do that if you're Maru. Clem is currently a better Terran at the moment than Maru, by 2 or 3 percent. But Maru is the historical king of comebacks. Only Maru could pull that off imo, unless it's another top 5 Terran during one of their best moments.
@@hydraxc2478 No, anyone could find themselves in that position if the opponent misreads the game. Happens on ladder quite a bit as well. That's the point of the fog of war.

that defence against the 3 reapers early in the video was masterful. soo didn't lose a single drone, and killed 2 of the 3 reapers. fuckin good

game 2, holy shit Maru. almost had comedback. with benefit of hindsight, he couldve brought all army back to main, while he floated hidden cc, jleave the medivacs at each base. if/when soo finds bases, just lift/pick up and move. soo had no aa, except viper or inf/rav wombo. he couldve massed marines of min only, hold choke in main while sending out double drops, he couldve stayed, in or maybe brought it back. damn good game. inspiring play
I dabble in starcraft for a few hours here and there and then i watch these casts and stop again realizing Im not built like this. But the casts are AMAZING

mate what a masterclass of terran. I'm doing so many 2 base bio all in's at my mere plat level thanks to watching terran pros vs zerg. TVT and TVP I find so easy. TVZ is just harder

At some point trying to play like maru is a just a no go. Same thing applies a hundred fold to trying to copy ByuN. Even if you had 12 hands you would not click fast enough.
I haven’t checked in for a little while, but what happened to the dominance of the 2 1 1 build everybody was running? Did people just get used to countering it?

What a terrible showing from soO on the second game. I'm convinced that if Maru didn't just choose to tap out he would have still won in the end because soO seems so pathologically committed to avoiding attacking his opponent's base. Multiple times if he would have commmitted to a base trade he could have easily stomped Maru, but he just kept letting him come back. And then minutes later Maru is back to harassing soO almost uncontested and then soO on his back-foot again. A real "I'm going to lose" play style, and it was cringe to watch. Seriously, Maru should have just kept going as soO was clearly never going to commit to the point where he would actually approach an end game.

Does anyone know what's up with the giant influx of people who instantly leave so they lose, and masters skill level (200-400apm) players in the silver and gold leagues on the NA server? I just played 3 games in a row in gold 3 against 3 different players all who had at least 200apm?
It's really frustrating trying to learn the game when I have 5 reapers killing me in less than 3 minutes that have near perfect micro and macro when I just want to play someone my own skill level. 2 of them were barcodes, which makes me think they ate losing on purpose to troll new people
It’s a cancer on ladder play. I run into this in platinum too. I guess they just like to bully lower players.
@NealHoltschulte it's been ruining my experience lately. What I wouldn't give for a few games against an equal opponent to learn the game, instead of being cheesed in the first 2 minutes or having to play against a 300apm player who destroys me no contest, then leaves so they lose and stay in the same league so they can do it to someone else
@@Moeron86 2min cheese you can do something about. I started enjoying the game more when I focused on not losing to bull shit. Nothing better than smashing cannon rushes and reaper all ins. And if it puts your economy a little behind, well that’s at least more interesting to play out in longer games
@NealHoltschulte if I could also play at 300apm sure. But the problem is master+ skill level players that play just long enough to not look like they are smurfing, then leave when they are winning so they "lose" the game on purpose to stay in lower leagues. It's really frustrating to never actually be able to play the game until a real end
He couldn't have done that with either of the other races - Terran have so many 'down but not out' and/or 'comeback' mechanics that the other two races don't.
Examples?
I can assure you, a single immortal drop would have done just as much damage to roach ravager. The problem is the choice of unit comp - hydra ling bane would have been so much better here, especially as maru built 0 widow mines over and over

- Lose a bunch of workers? Mules cover a lot of that window of vulnerability.
- Mining out but broke because you lost workers? Just fly your building and save your minerals.
- They don't have much anti-air (ie. They're Zerg)? Hit them with drops over and over to buy time.
- Don't have a very good standing army? Terran have some of the best turtle units in the game.
- Can only afford a super-low-budget army? Build your most basic, cheapest, mineral-only unit that can deal with both air and land and melee, AND it scales as one of the best units in the game in regards to upgrades. (Can be supported on just mules)
So, for Terran, turtling up is easier, you can somewhat cover the economic loss from losing workers, you can spam out your weakest unit and they won't become obsolete as easily, etc.
Sorry, I ran out of time to comment but you should get the point. And none of that is even including scans nor flying your buildings to dead air space to force a draw instead of an outright loss (that other races can't do). Nor ghosts.
Those things I listed are all just ways to minimize the negative impact of things not going well. Other races don't have as many nor ones as good.
@@vanyel_etc8695 - A big difference is that that's only doable if you built into Robo; you can't just immortal drop if you get knocked down and don't already have the infrastructure.
With marines, you WILL have barracks regardless of your build.
Plus you ignored every other point apart from "Protoss can also do drops!"
I mean, fair, but soo could target the medivacs with queens multiple times... Leave a small amout of units to block maru from getting bacl his 3rd and natural... I think if your opponent keeps making mistakes like these, it's just a player diff
