Great vídeo, as always! I also do this: when recording, I use lower I/O buffer size; then, when I start mixing the track, I change it to bigger I/O buffer size, because then latency is not a problem anymore.
Thank you so much Mikael, my audio was really struggling and of the 10 or 15 videos that I watched, yours was the one that helped me right away! Thanks again.
In all my time using Logic I didn't know some of these yet, and they're exactly what I needed! Especially the Freeze Track feature. Thanks so much for this video and all your work Mike!
Any help with my case? I think it's my MacBook pro from school causing the issue. Trying to record a metal song in Logic Pro.. the signal completely cuts out, either in the middle of recording guitar, or just doing nothing. It's so annoying. I did just delete a bunch of files on my HD, maybe that will help but I've yet to test it.
Hi Mikael, Great video! But when you turn on the "mute" button it still will be processed! Better way is to turn off the "on" (on/off) Button. It's also in the header components. :)
I did just about everything you suggested and my Logic Pro is still using upwards to 150% CPU! I have a 3.4 GHz Quad core intel core i5, 128GB of memory, and nothing else is running in the background. Now what?? Despite using Low Latency mode, is it possible that I have too many plugins running??
I did all of these in the same project and Logic is still overloading. All I'm doing is mix a song with 10 audio tracks and maybe 1-2 plugins on each of them, buffer size is maxed out, tracks are frozen AND bounced and it's still overloading. Is it time for a new laptop? my macbook is only about 4 years old.
can you edit and record in 32 bit then move it back up to 64 when finished or does it need to be recorded in 64 bit? and low latency mode then turns off the effect of the plugin as if its not used at all? meaning if it turns off reverb for example, the reverb effect is taken off the track and I wont hear it? And will muting a track also be the same as freezing it?
If you change the Sample rate, it will increase or decrease the speed of your recordings if you have audio file tracks in your project timeline before the change.
Discovered this the hard way! But it's an easy fix--just right click on the affected region(s) and select Tempo>Apply Project Tempo to Region and Downbeat
Não entendo o cérebro de alguém que marca um vídeo desse como "não gostei" O seu canal é excelente! Parabéns pelos vídeos. Dou curso de Logic Pro X aqui no Brasil e estou indicando seu canal do youtube aos alunos. Sorry, but i don't speak english very well. :)
I have a 2013 ,27’ iMac with the I-7 processor, 32 gigs ram and a 256 gb ssd . And I just got it. I’m getting slight crackling in Logic Pro x. I have only 5-6 tracks with less than 3 plugins running and cpu usage never goes above 45-50% on one core and only a tiny bit, ( 2-10%) so could it be because My headphones are not running through an interface?
Most likely that vst is running at 88.2kHz while your logic instance is running at 44.1kHz. You should be able to see this in the top right cornes of the Kontakt vst screen. Not surr, but you should be able to change that
Be careful this last update has messed up my Logic Pro X to 10.4.6 big time. Can't get sounds from my internal synth anymore. Have to open and close Logic 4 times to set midi from Audio Midi setup. Then reset Midi in Logic Close it down again and then you get only sounds from some of the plugins you have bought. Watch out! It's the worst nightmare I have had with Logic.
Since many people seek out videos like this because their project has just crashed, you really need to tell users that some of these changes will damage their projects if they enact them after already having started a project. Changing the I/O buffer size, for example, to a project that has already been started will wreck it. And you should tell users how to reverse or fix the project after this has happened to them.
Why would this be so? We should be able to freely change buffer sizes (really a function of the audio interface). i.e. lower for recording and higher for mixing.
To say, record with the final sample rate is likely to say to camera man: " Jeah, recording in FullHD is TV Standard, so it is enough." Always record in 96 khz, reverb plugins will sound more clean and realistic since they have more meat for processing.

Thanks Rogério! Yes, I/O buffer is probably the biggest impact on CPU. =)
Sincerely,
Mike
Thanks

That was a lot of helpful information. Thanks!
Really helpful, thanks Mike.
Thanks for sharing buddy!

Thank you Daniel, keep on learning by diving deep into Logic Pro X! ;)
Sincerely,
Mike
All fantastic tips! Thank you.
I don't know how to thank you. I have an old Mac Mini late 2014 that was strugling with Logic Pro, works like a charm now. Thanks.
Great video, thanks for sharing!

Holy crap the freeze function is a game changer! Had no idea Logic had this feature, and it's going to make tracking that much better!
beautifully & clearly explained - very helpful. Thank you so much for sharing!
Perfect. Just right on the spot. Extremely helpful. Thank you!
Thank you Mike ! Some Tipps war new to me and really helpful 😃👍
Good stuff mate! These tips should allow me to produce music without being interupted by system overload.
Thanks alot!
Brilliant, thank you. Subscribed.
WWAHOU ! THANKS YOU SO MUCH !!!
Thank you for your tips, you are great
Thanks mike!! U really saved me(& my machine🥰) from a huge stress... thanks for ur valuable tip👏

Very helpful thank you!!
Hi Mikael, It is NOT possible to mute individual tracks that play the same instrument right?
A diamond as ever, thank you!
How does Mikael not have more subscribers!! Thank you so much!
Haha, well I guess everyone watches vloggers and gamers or something. But thank you! =)

I would consider getting an Apple M2 chip for higher speeds and more cores. I’ve heard people have better experience with it
Mike, love your work! You are awesome! Thank you for all of your amazing tips!
Excellent tips, Mike! Thanks so much for posting.
Thanks Benjamin. Hopefully in the future CPUs will be so powerful that saving resources will not be an issue. =)
Sincerely,
Mike
Exactly what i needed thanks Mike 👍🏿
You are very welcome grexaflex. =)
Sincerely,

You help me man, thanks!
What about changing how many cores?
You legend! Freezing tracks has changed my life

very helpful...thanks
Very handy tips. I'm a live monitor engineer. Lockdown has made get logicpro in the house.
Hey thank u for that video but i did litrally every Tip you showed us but my session is still not working…
Thanks Mike. after watching many videos on managing Logic pro CPU efficiency, I finally found the right tips.

i have the same question
could you find out?
Great Video!
Many thanks for this
Nice one Mike. Ta!

Not sure to be honest. Could be many things. But in any case I would recommend using a nice audio interface.

Mike
sir your videos are always useful.
Thank you Nimesh, that is very kind of you! =)

You're a Great. Thank you very much !!!
It was really helpful.
Hello, Any Idea why Autosampler crashes when sampling , I,m using Native K 5,8 , Thank you.
Thank you!!
That summing tip, thanks Mike :)
Haha, yes until we have super mega computers from the future we still need to learn how to save some precious CPU and RAM power. ;)

I am facing a particular error issue with one kontakt vst saying sample rate miss match how to sort dis out

How about a more in depth video on the subject of busses and sends? Thanks 👍
I actually already have one in the queue of planned videos, but thank you for the suggestion. =)
Sincerely,
Mike
@@mikaelbaggstrom might want to include auxiliary tracks and channel strips with that as well lol Thanks Mike 👍
Mike, could you write down your Mac configuration? SSD or HDD - size, RAM, processor - mac version. OS? thanks
Hello Ladislav,
I have the full list here: professionalcomposers.com/about/

Thank you so much! My CPU isn't gassing anymore on 100 channel tracks lol
Glad I could help Ian! =)
