The keyboard is labeled Tandon, I used to work with Tandon computers. They started at a diskette company, then they moved into complete computers with some of the first removable hard disk drives. This gave them an advantage for high security government contracts where the hard disks could be removed and placed in a safe instead of moving the entire computer. Alas, the cost was to high for non-government sales and the company folded after a few years.
I remember Tandon in Europe, they did very well in magazine tests against the likes of Apricot, Wang, and HP contemporaries, but their name was chronically misassociated with Tandy, which was strictly amateur hour C64 & Sinclair Spectrum home soldering project stuff at that time.
My father had one on his company, with a green phosphor monitor and all. That thing kinda terrified me back in the day, haha. I wonder where the keyboard is...
My keyboard is trash, and someone recommended "space invaders" related boards, and I just gotta mention If you put lubricant in em, they sound very different. That's what I've heard, just wanted to let you know
This is the nicest sounding keyboard switch for me. Fortunately, the first batch of Amiga500s had these switches in their keyboards, mounted on a metal plate. I still love this.
How did you lube the switches @Chyrosran22 I have seen people putting the sliders in a bag and spraying the bag with lube and others using a brush to delicately paint it on. I am using finish line dry ptfe lube which seems to be the american equivalent of gt85
What is the weighting on most of these switches? I read on deskthority that the brown is around 85g, is that standard around the board? (pardon the pun)
Better built than Model F XT? (looks down at XT in sadness) also, why do these sound so amazing? every time i listen to you ASMR keyboard vid, i keep repeating the segment for this board, haha.
Heh, yeah, I got a lot of positive messages about the 725 in the ASMR video. And yes, I'd say it's better built than an F XT, but not by much, and the F XT isn't EXACTLY a lightweight xD .
Sometimes, plastic is better than metal. It depends which plastic, how thick, and how it's done, really. Honestly, the F XT has few weak points in its construction, and the top case really isn't one of them xD .
You mention that you play games, I don't know what games you play other than doom, but I play quite a bit of CSGO and Osu!. What switches are your favorite for gaming?
When playing with friends it's mostly R6 Siege and alone, Enter the Gungeon, at least at the moment. Just a few days ago I ran into someone playing Siege who actually recognised my voice xD .
Is there a guide or list on which keyboards will have nmb switches I noticed that nmb switches are in alot of different branded keyboards wish there was some list on it!
is there a review of the tactile and clicky invaders on your channel yet? i've always been interested in them and kinda want to build a TKL/75% using those switches if i will ever be able to source them :)
Yes, I've reviewed both of those twice before. The ICL and RT-101+ have tactile ones, and the 8255C+ and RT-102 have clickies. All very interesting keyboards, definitely give them a watch.
thanks, i will go and watch them now :D is it hard to find those boards in recycling centers and the likes? i'd feel really bad desoldering a really rare keyboard for the switches.
I have a clicky NMB board with a split backspace/spacebar that has a few keys that are intermittent. I would love to get it working. Feels and sounds so nice.

That sound is indeed amazing, they sound so smooth.
It's soothing, isn't it? :D
The space bar is pretty good sounding for a change as well! It hardly stands out at all.

Your voice makes the only perfectly generated auto-captions on YT.
It does?! xD
You are right! Thats really cool! :D Virtually no failed captions!
It mistook AT for 80 multiple times.
XT Era
"X Tierra"
"One-eyed White Linear" sounds like a Yu-gi-oh card.

Correction , the control key is where it should be :)
hello, brother!
no.
@@nooney1014 yes, UNIX layout ftw
no
100% correct
That does sound amazing.

PS. any chance you will get your hands on Ellipses F77 prototype?
How do I lube these space invader switches? Is Thier any tutorials online?
GT-85, is that the bicycle lube often stocked by Aldi? is it good for LV switches?
That sound is satisfying to say the least.
It really does sound amazing!
What is the weighting on most of these switches? I read on deskthority that the brown is around 85g, is that standard around the board? (pardon the pun)
These are probably not quite THAT heavy, but they're still quite stiff.
I still have feck all fascination with keyboards, but love your vids man. Dunno why, but please keep up the good work.

honestly, it could be heavier. i was rather disappointed to realize the top case was plastic when i took it apart.
Sometimes, plastic is better than metal. It depends which plastic, how thick, and how it's done, really. Honestly, the F XT has few weak points in its construction, and the top case really isn't one of them xD .
In fact, there's only one model F that has an all-metal case as far as I'm aware (the 4707 - zinc).

I really like Fujitsu leaf springs for gaming, by the way. The third generation especially. My Tandy keyboard even has NKRO.
wow, that is a quite pleasant typing sound.
Is there a guide or list on which keyboards will have nmb switches I noticed that nmb switches are in alot of different branded keyboards wish there was some list on it!
damn that space bar how many stabs does that thing have
is FLIPPING HUGE
delicious sounds
As said in your Chyron Aircraft Carrier video, this thing is BIGLY!
One thing is clear. In the past, the quality of the keybords was much, much better
This vid is old I know but the sound of this keyboard makes me wanna cry (in a good way) definitely my favourite switch tied with holy pandas
We need that stability too.
That spacebar... I have no words.

Hmmm, they're not that uncommon. NMB was a very big player back in the day.
I have a clicky NMB board with a split backspace/spacebar that has a few keys that are intermittent. I would love to get it working. Feels and sounds so nice.
May be as simple as re-flowing the solder. Otherwise maybe cleaning the contact hands a bit. There's lots of simple causes for it.
I hate to say this, but I think the sound of this beats even the venerable thock of Topre.
Topre thock is NOTHING compared to this. It's genuinely unique, I know of nothing else that sounds like this.
I think the lube also made the sound even nicer. Just 5 minutes of typing on this board would be enough to lull me to sleep.
Can't wait until my NOS boards get here!
beautiful board, looks brand new
Only because I cleaned it xD .
@@Chyrosran22 Will you ever do a 30min just typing video? Id send you my puppy
What lube did you use on it?
Lubeless it was for how he had it.
This was the thock meme before it was cool.
Your "skip to timestamp... demonstration" is a bit off, just letting you know :)
Thanks, I've corrected it :) .
Oh, I like the sound of typing so went to rewatch that part ^^
dude this board sounds satisfying :D
These sound so good
Can we bring these switches back?
Lovely!
I always use the numpad as arrow keys. I used to wonder why there were numbers on it.
xD
Sounds like high heels
They sound like console controller's joysticks. Even the space bar, which sounds like when you suddenly pull the joystick and then rapidly release it
I have a commodore amiga 2000 with those switches
Might wanna change that typing demonstration timestamp :)
I found an old rubberdome with the same layout. Personally I found it horrible.
That space bar......
9:44
bleep bloop
XT keyboard best.
OH MY FUCKING GOD IT JUST SOUNDS SO GOOD BUT LOOKS REALLY UGLY
it sounds good to me but it gets annoying after awhile
The stable-ness of these switches is what I dont care for. It's not my cup of tea.
Is this keyboard porn?
keyboard sound is pretty annoying!
