I surfed Petecalco in Mexico in the same area back in the 70s - which was a similar wave. These waves like NF is on, I can only imagine the power. On 7ft Petecalco any wipeout pinned you on the cobblestone bottom and popped your ears. I got my first case of swimmer ear there. A wave like Nate's could easily kill you. Much respect to these warriors
Makes me feel better about doing the same thing on Sunday at Mangawhai. However, the scale of my wave and underwater adventure was a lot smaller fortunately!
