Good video! Too many folks mess it up or get frustrated and end up throwing away a wonderful tasting piece of meat. I had to learn from the fellows at the deer camp, so your video will be a great help to those who don't have someone to teach them in person. Great job!

My favorite part of the deer, even over the straps. I butterfly them grate some horseradish cheddar and throw some chopped up garlic and onions. Roll it up with butchers string, and smoke it for a few hours. Great video! Btw where do I find a knife like that?

dont throw it away, save it and render into tallow

The entire heart is edible it’s just certain parts which are extremely chewy, I think mincing the heart in a meat grinder is way better.

I’ve never eaten the heart and liver (or other organs) but I’ve heard they are good. I’ve always said I’m a carnivore so I eat the meat; not a scavenger that eats the guts. Lol but this video is making me have second thoughts on that philosophy. Thanks for the tutorial. (Subscribed btw)

I used to watch your old channel like crazy. Was funny and entertaining at the same time. here, you seem a lot more serious. Don't get me wrong, I like the videos, I just like your old channel better. Was so damn funny and highly entertaining. This channel seems more like educational, serious, and a non stop add for Weston. I like the educational, don't mind the adds for Weston, but I liked you better when you were having fun and cracking jokes. Like your original Deer Heart cooking video. My WIFE loved that video, and she hates these kinds of videos.
    Cheers

Just watched two young men Bowhunting FERAL GOATS, they just cut up the uncleaned heart (clots of blood and the stringy bits left in) gave it a longish deep fry (just the worst amount of cooking time🤦‍♂️) then tried it 🤮 So sad to see their faces, I bet it tasted like a penny with all the clotted blood, and chewed like rubber bands & string. So sad.

By "inedible" do you mean it is actually dangerous to consume the fat? or just unpalatable texture wise? I'm on keto and actually want to eat organ meats for the fat and nutrient content. Just defrosting a deer heart from last year that i kept avoiding due to unfamiliarity, next time will probably just eat organ meats first instead of freezing. *edit* just realized the heart is a muscle...not sure if it counts as organ meat. hmm should try some liver as well.
