He's drinking while preparing... he must be a master!!!
The white fat is great bro, done over 500 deer hearts
Good video! Too many folks mess it up or get frustrated and end up throwing away a wonderful tasting piece of meat. I had to learn from the fellows at the deer camp, so your video will be a great help to those who don't have someone to teach them in person. Great job!
The fibrous string he points out is called the chordae tendinae
Damn, I thought I was the only one who loves the deer heart, lol. I also like to eat chicken hearts....mmmm.
I live the heart!! I think it's the best meat there is on the deer or elk
This video so well put together. Deserves way more like and subscribers.
You are a trip man!!! We would get along very well. Keep up the good videos. Helpful information and well put together. Hunting season for deer for me in SC starts Aug 15. Its gonna be another hot start!
LOL My gal is a nurse too. I just learned the about chordae tendineae
a few months ago. I love deer hearts but thought I would see how other folks cut them up. Thanks for the video!
The strings in the heart that you didnt know are called chordae tendinae
thanks
Just made it the second way with salt and pepper. Holy mother of deer meat was it good!!!! Thanks for the help!!!
Yea I use a good fillet knife
Awesome tutorial. Thanks!! Gonna try some ❤️ tacos. 🍻
None of my buddy's keep their hearts so I end up getting quite a few every season. The taste almost reminds me of the tenderloins
My grandfather fried them one year at camp and it kinda tasted like blackstrap
One of the best parts and most people just throw em away to waste
This helped me so much thank you!!
Seriously helped. Thank you a lot man🤙🏼
I usually boil in water 💦 with salt. Thanks for video. I’ll try some new techniques.
Peter from ontario
Your video is very interesting, and I will try your recipe
That was a great video!!! Do you know if you can Prep & cook Cow Heart the same way??? If not do you have a video on prepping Cow Heart?
Great vid thanks
Yup good stuff bro
Second Comment :) lol. Keep up what you are doing brother! Following the channel and will definitely be using your recipes this season.
My favorite part of the deer, even over the straps. I butterfly them grate some horseradish cheddar and throw some chopped up garlic and onions. Roll it up with butchers string, and smoke it for a few hours. Great video! Btw where do I find a knife like that?
Joe Weiland oh man that sounds amazing! The knife is from a company called Middleton made knives. www.middletonmadeknives.com
How long do you smoke them for and at what temp? that sounds delicious
you need to get a better knife for that like a filleting knife or boning knife, something thin and practical.
I'll be saving the hearts this season!
John LaMela Heck yeah! You'll love it. We'll be posting anoyher heart recipe really soon as well!
Huh, I never knew you could eat the heart. Thanks!
Lol dumb ass
You can bro its the best part also.
Give it a try
@@youavang6571 damn why did you keep coming back and commenting lmao
The white fat is completely edible and I do want to eat it.
What is the consistency of the deer heart fat?
Just got me some deer meat love it..
It’
Hey bub what brand/make knife is that?
You should rinse it out after cutting the valve part off
nice knife!
the fat is potentially the most nutritious part of the heart lol
dont throw it away, save it and render into tallow
The entire heart is edible it’s just certain parts which are extremely chewy, I think mincing the heart in a meat grinder is way better.
Can u post a direct link to that bad ass knife. I have looked high and low and cant find it anywhere
Middletonmadeknives.com is where I got it. You can contact him if it's not on his site. He makes all his knives!
Technical term : valves ;-)
I eat the whole darn thing and cook them with some scrambled eggs 🤤
That knife is ridiculous
and not in the good way
I’ve never eaten the heart and liver (or other organs) but I’ve heard they are good. I’ve always said I’m a carnivore so I eat the meat; not a scavenger that eats the guts. Lol but this video is making me have second thoughts on that philosophy. Thanks for the tutorial. (Subscribed btw)
You are missing out.
Can't beat a stuffed moose heart
gab2nd...4 sure!!
chordae tendineae. Aka-heart strings
Why vent the heart on ice?
My vegan ass trying to prepare a heart for my dog confused af like: 👁👄👁
Can you let the heart cure with the rest of the deer
What kind of knife is that ?
Middletonmadeknives.com Folding chef blade!
I only found one heart in my deer
I used to watch your old channel like crazy. Was funny and entertaining at the same time. here, you seem a lot more serious. Don't get me wrong, I like the videos, I just like your old channel better. Was so damn funny and highly entertaining. This channel seems more like educational, serious, and a non stop add for Weston. I like the educational, don't mind the adds for Weston, but I liked you better when you were having fun and cracking jokes. Like your original Deer Heart cooking video. My WIFE loved that video, and she hates these kinds of videos.
Cheers
Your knife needs sharpening. I just cleaned up a deer heart and I did not need to "saw" at it. Other than that, good video, thanks
Who’s here in 2021?
Good video but he needs an anatomy lesson on what and where ventricles are located. Maybe that's just the medic in me Thanks for the vid. I love heart
P
Just watched two young men Bowhunting FERAL GOATS, they just cut up the uncleaned heart (clots of blood and the stringy bits left in) gave it a longish deep fry (just the worst amount of cooking time🤦♂️) then tried it 🤮 So sad to see their faces, I bet it tasted like a penny with all the clotted blood, and chewed like rubber bands & string. So sad.
By "inedible" do you mean it is actually dangerous to consume the fat? or just unpalatable texture wise? I'm on keto and actually want to eat organ meats for the fat and nutrient content. Just defrosting a deer heart from last year that i kept avoiding due to unfamiliarity, next time will probably just eat organ meats first instead of freezing. *edit* just realized the heart is a muscle...not sure if it counts as organ meat. hmm should try some liver as well.
If I was able to kill deer here in Ohio I’d def be for this haven’t seen a deer hunting Ohio in 2 years
Dudes knife suuuuuucks.

Alot of fucking around ay
Why trim the fat, I've eaten heart with fat and it tastes good
