Always giving us so much information Dan and jay, honest and to the point which I love - I’m looking forward to seeing you review of this ship! Give us a sneak peak, did you like it!? Lol
Thanks so much Julie! Our Cruise Review and FULL Ship Tour will be about in the coming weeks, they take a bit longer to do. We're big fans of Britannia.
We prefer to choose our cabin with a few of things in mind. Freedom dining, we like to keep ourselves to ourselves, happy to speak to people but like to eat as a twosome. Not next to or in the lift lobby. Cabins above, below and across the corridor - that limits some noise. The deck below the pool deck can get the sound of chairs being dragged. Being close to the lifts is obvious. Being above or close to entertainment venues again is self evident. Cabins across from crew access doors can have the sound of trolleys etc being moved. The video identified the benefits of mid ships and low down to limit movement sickness. On older ships there may be more engine noise especially at the rear and low down, many modern ships have azipods which reduces vibrations, I believe P&O and Princess have more traditional propulsion systems. You pays your money and takes your choice.
Select fare was better for us as we had a £330 each on board spend and we used it for the drinks package £19.95 so took the worry's out of further purchases. Once you deduct the onboard spend it worked out the fare of a early saver.
Hello Gary. We're glad that the Select Fare worked for you. You're absolutely right, in term of monetary value the fares work out about the same - but we understand that people like yourself appreciate the Select Fare, as it takes away the worry of having to budget while on holiday. Hope you had a great cruise!
@@sailawaymag what a waste having the curtains drawn! Reason I want a balcony is for the view, not bloody nosey nellys looking me tanning on the balcony! 😂
Hey Kat & Nige - thanks for your comment! Since this video, we'd probably lean more towards Select Fare, as there are many issues in relation to dining, particularly with getting your preferred dining time in the MDR. After our diabolical cruise aboard Arcadia last week, we've vowed not to cruise with P&O for a long time. Without being overdramatic, it was a holiday from hell.
I like p&o cruise line. Normal deposits.not $800 or $600 like other major cruise lines. Excited to take a grown up cruise. I'm past of the age of " party on dude" or fights on board.dont like dogs sniffing at me either. Only custom dogs. Cruise coming up..
Great explanation with all the details explained. My view has always been if I am happy with worst cabin in the grade we have chosen then I go with it. We local so don’t benefit from coach travel etc. As you say with freedom dining only on arvia and Iona think this needs to be looked at as a perk. Think in the next few years saver/select will need to be looked at, maybe adding more perks, spa access, money off up charge restaurants etc
Thanks for your feedback and comment as always :) I agree with you about P&O looking at the rates. I feel like its a bit overdue for them to have a premium rate, something which can compete with MSC's Yacht Club and Princess' Premier Package etc. Early Saver hasn't done me wrong, yet. But I know there are a lot of P&O cruisers out there that are very insistent on booking the Select Fare rate.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone! Excluding the benefits mentioned in the video linked to the fare type, the following is included: - fruit juice with breakfast. - tea, coffee and water all day. - food in main dining rooms, buffet, poolside grills etc. Specialty Restaurants are extra. - tips and gratuities are included. - transfers and flights where required. - port taxes and charges.
@@sailawaymag Britainia or Arvia depending on which route we go with..I honestly can't get my head around it ha ha I'm used to paying and everything's inclusive and away we go! I'm sure the extra work will be worth it for our 1st time cruising 🛳 😎
When I returned from my recent P&O cruise (saver fare) they offered an extra £150 on board spend for booking a select fare... all in the mix but nsde it easier to choose a select fare on that occasion...

Depends if you drink a lot
Very informative - great video, thanks ;)
Thanks so much for watching, glad it was helpful :)
Fab videos lads… note to self don’t have one of their cabins on Iona which over looks the morning marchers!! 😂
Thanks Cliff! No, we wouldn't want them either! We'd end up having the curtains drawn all the time.
@@sailawaymag what a waste having the curtains drawn! Reason I want a balcony is for the view, not bloody nosey nellys looking me tanning on the balcony! 😂
We usually go for early saver if we want a balcony. Sometimes we treat ourselves with a suite and will then choose our cabin location.

Hey thanks for watching and commenting! When’s your crusies booked for and what ports will you be visiting! 😀

You didn't mention being placed in a cabin near to a source of noise, eg, a bar or with an outdoor deck above. Is this a noise risk with P&O?
Currently looking at Cruise with P & O on Britainia and it all seems very confusing what's included and what's not! 🤔 😂

Yes, they usually do with a Select Fare. But we bet that the Select Fare was more than £150 more than the Early Saver rate...
Very informative video Dan and Jay, I guess it would always come down to price at the end of the day with what one you book?
Thanks for your feedback as ever! Yeah exactly, you can sometimes get a very good deal on Select Fare.
