Idol isn’t that great of a job unless you really make it. Generally actors and models get better treatment cause once they’re established they’re not as expendable.
I'm Korean American but I've visited Korea at least once every other year and I honestly don't think Korea's that racist either. I've seen quite a few of black tourists and the most they'll do is stare, but nowadays, that doesn't even happen very often because Koreans have been more exposed to black people through the media/there are more black people living in Korea than before. I think the perception that Korea is a super racist and conservative country comes from some insensitive things they might do (ex: cultural appropriation in kpop or blackface) but nobody's like outright racist. Nowadays I feel like korean people think black culture and black people are really cool and they respect them. Ofc, this doesn't apply to every single Korean person out there, but I feel like this applies to most Koreans.
