Good information. My husband just had a 28 day icu stay...many of these preventative measures were used. The first few days he was very paranoid and didn't trust his caregivers. I was only allowed 1 hour with him every day. I finally left him a note to reassure him that he was safe and that the people who came in were there to help him. They did well with nutrition and early mobilization. Hand off was not super...but I am a nurse and could fill in the blanks for rehab. His cognitive is back to baseline...physical not yet.
take a note from a vet ...... not an icu situation but a small clinic, but all my post op and critical care patients receive music therapy. and for me there is a huge deference i see in my animal patients since they receive music therapy while recovering.
Thank you Play Time for posting. It helped our dad after a stroke and ICU. One of my siblings thought of it. He was a doctor who took very good care of his patients. It meant a great deal, anything that helped, his favorite music, etc. Please be well. And your animal patients are very lucky to have you!
