  • Alyson Stoner, Actor, Dancer, Podcast Host, and CEO of Movement Genius, delves into the significance of the mind-body connection, particularly in relation to the queer experience. They discuss the gap in mental health practices that overlook this connection and share their personal health journey. The conversation also addresses the challenges faced by faith communities in accepting queerness, emphasizing the importance of self-expression, and why ghosting someone who texts in ALL CAPS is basically self-care.

    Mal, I am from India. I must say, I feel your podcast as Therapy. In India,still there is stigma around queers. And therapy is again expensive. You are helping me with your podcast.

    I’ve been reading a lot of Shere Hite recently, and there was something that hit me so hard and truly made me think. Women love differently. Women are more subtle in their cues to attraction but that these can be misinterpreted, and so women can walk away from an encounter not knowing that the other person found them attractive. So many women are missing out. I am grateful for your podcast, you can’t be it if you can’t see it. Time for women now to flourish, be themselves and be rid of oppression. So grateful to you and your guests, beautiful conversations that I feel with every breath I take xxxx

    I truly love the way Alyson expresses herself, and is now so conscious and aware of her experiences. And i loved that it felt like she did open up, contrary to how she says she used to do, which is a testament to how incredible this podcast is and the energy that Mal and Matilde bring ❤

    36:44 this! I grew up in a high demand religious group where this was a major component drilled in through my entire upbringing in every single facet of life. So much of your journey I resonate with including your energy overall. The way that feels so healing and empowering to witness you in sharing your story is beyond words. I’m so grateful ❤

    Another great show. I always feel like I'm hanging out with friends and listening in to their lives & conversations. x
    Alyson was such a joy to listen too and I think a good reminder to myself to make sure I am listening to my body. Being trans there is the obvious disconnect I felt as a kid but listening to this episode I've maybe gained insight into just how wide and complicated my disconnection probably was.
    The poor memory hit home as I realise now that my mind wasn't interested or at least barriered off from a lot of what was happening around me. I think it important for people to understand that I came from a none religious, loving and very stable family and that doesn't rule you out or even protect you from how we can disconnect from ourselves.
    Watching this episode with Alyson has made me realise why it wasn't just the bad stuff I forgot but also a lot of what should have been good memories. Actually the bad stuff I would remember, probably as a way of justifying to myself my disconnection from life.
    I was trans with all the fear of being different keeping my silent, also without the vocabulary to talk about what I was going through. I would flip between anxiety & anger, then coldness just ticking off the days trying to feel nothing. It's no wonder I had so many health issues and no wonder my memory was like an unused muscle.
    This episode has me crying but in a healthy way. (also laughter). I'm going to have to start treating this as therapy with a cup of Tea and a box of tissues for all the tears. :) x

    The Icon The Legend Alyson Stoner!! Looking forward to this talk.😊 As sum1 who hasn't done therapy this podcast has been a really good precursor to be prepped for what to expect when I do decide to start therapy. So thanx Mal and company. Being shut off from your body is such an interesting point, and how it affects your mental and physical. I'm currently closeted and come to think of it some of the mental and physical issues could be correlated to that...wow just realizing this. This conversation was def needed. 28:34 literally just put the biggest smile on my face."uncover your queerness. Liberation is available and it looks like a 🌈"😂 Queer Community is sooo important. That's something I feel I need to work on cultivating in my neck of the woods in my country. I mean Jamaica is not that safe of a place but I need to find ways to create those safe places. Again, this convo is opening up my eyes a little more, so thank you.

    I was waiting for Alyson to be on this channel. I can totally relate when they were talking about how they would constantly move and felt like detaching themselves from others was completely normal and the way of life until they realized that it is much better to create deeper relationships with people and it is much easier when you finally embrace who you are.

    • @NotAnotherKuromi
      @NotAnotherKuromi 7 дней назад +1

      It seemed like she was talking like a soft spoken therapist, which in itself is inauthentic and somewhat manipulative, which I find off-putting.
      I believe Alison was saying very vulnerable experiences but her delivery and choice of phrasing prevented me from connecting to her, in fact it made me feel repelled. I don't think the problem is that she's trying to be genuine but rather be kind and what someone else has told her is the best/healthiest way to approach things. She's clearly on a healing journey and hopefully she finds a better balance soon.
