I think its not secret, but commonly unknown. I for myself knew about this. There are other features like holding down air-recirculation to close windows when driving into a tunnel. Hold it again to return all windows to previous positions. Than there is a kickdown button above 100% throttle. You can use this to turn of limit, i use it maybe 10-20 times per day for overtaking or when speed limit ends. Oh and boths cars and newer mercedes editions have this button/Function behind throttle. But to be true, this is all written in the cars manual.
pressing the throttle past the first resistance point turns the rather comfortable engine+gearbox into a little monster that you need to be careful with :) When I got my first one I was surprised by it ... the power it got out of the engine, almost instantly, was WOW (and it was a 150cp w203)

This function actually doesn’t work every time I am trying to make use of it. I am not sure what the problem is that causes the windows not to move. I will believe it is either the heat or rather the bright sun that disturbs the signal.

I have two w203 and i can confirm, at one car its not working proper. I tested both keys but it worked maybe 1/20 tries. I think this is infrared communication, you have to point the key towards the drivers handle and there is an IR Reciever mounted just for this feature. But maybe the reciever is malfunctioning, you could ask your local mercedes service station. Point the front of the key towards the drivers handle and hold down open or close for multiple seconds until the windows move.

Why do you kick down 20 times a day? there must be something wrong with your driving.
