Been playing over 40 years and have at least 100 pedals. I can honestly say "The Dude" is my favorite dirt pedal. It just sounds so sweet! Shawn is a humbling player. He's always right on top of the notes. Great player!
My pedalboard was stolen recently from my car after a gig. Thankfully nothing vintage or super pricey, but I will miss my Zendrive, a few delays, an OCD v3...and a few others including the board plus George L cables. Rebuilding from scratch now and started with the Archer Ikon. Love it! Today's purchase was the 'Dude' and it's a keeper! Btw, the Archer in front of it is pure creamy bliss when dialed in. I'm sure m not alone when I say this amazing demo helped me make up my mind. Many thanks!!
I wanted to like the Archer Ikon, but I ended up sending it back. I didn't like the Wampler Tumnus Deluxe pedal either. Guess I'm not a Klon guy! The J Rockett Blue Note is another GREAT sounding J Rockett drive pedal. So I'm 2 for 3 with my J Rockett pedal experiences. Glad you're back up and running. I can't even come close to imagining how it would feel to have my board stolen.
great video, this is the best vid when it comes to playing the same notes at the same volume and showing the adjustments in the corner. The most comprehensive vid thanks!
Just got my Dude V2 w go icy I’ll be using with pedal steel. Still experimenting but I love it!!! Any suggestions on settings? How did you have it set with the slide ? That’s the tone for me
The J Rockett Blue Note overdrive running into The Dude as a boost works really well! I've got the Blue Note, Boss SD-1, Xotic EP, and Xotic SP sitting in front of The Dude on one of my boards and they ALL work really well goosing The Dude. Wow, that sounds weird to say... In any event, check out the Blue Note in front of The Dude if you want a magical combination of overdrive tones that can cover just about all of your low to mid gain tones.
Shawn, sounds killer, great demo. Have you tried the Mojo Extra Special? It is supposed to be a higher gain DMBL pedal. If so how does it compare to the Dude?
Hi Shawn! THanks for the demo! I just got the dude pedal today and it sounds really fizzy to me (and not in a good way) if my ratio and deep knobs are all the way up and my level knob goes past a quarter of the way up. You touched on that a little at the end of the vid but I thought I would at least be able to get my level knob up halfway before fizz happened. Does the same happen with yours? I saw that you had your level knob up halfway at the end and it was fine.
I may have solved the problem. I was playing through my Roland street cube ex and I just think that amp can't handle it well. I plugged into my Yamaha thr10c and the fizz was gone. So I imagine that if I played it through my tube amp it would sound just as great.....
when you said that the dude "doesn't fall apart on me", you just sold me on two things: 1) you 2) the pedal you put it perfectly. I love the rich harmonics and wall of sound from high gain, but I need to cascade pedals to get it.... looking for pedals that can get slightly chewy and a little mushy while maintaining pick definition. however, push this scenario too hard, and it all falls apart. mush, harshness, boxy mids running rampant. you nailed it. spot on.
@@IronDave1985 I know this is an older comment but have you tried a noise gate pedal in conjunction? I've got a Fatbee and it's SUUUPER noisy but I really like it and am thinking of getting a noise gate pedal to try and tame it. I wonder also if a noise gate would help with this.
Excellent as always Shawn! Is the push box aspect of this pedal similar at all to the archer pedal? I only have space for one more pedal and can't choose between the two haha
Jealous?? I get it as a guitarist myself. But bro, I could listen to Shawn play all day, any day and I got plenty out of the video to know if it will pair well or not with my rig. Shawn’s skills playing is just a bonus to my ears. Just saying
To be honest, most of the time i come here just to listen Shaw Tubbs to play, damn what an amazing guitarist!
Same here. Shawn has become my favorite for gear demos! Excellent player.

Just bought The Dude after listening to Shawn on this demo... I seem to find new tones with every twiddle and each different guitar - I’m well happy!
Thanks David, it is definitely a musical pedal, enjoy and thanks for the support!!
Thanks Shawn, excellent demo! After seeing this, I ordered, and received The Dude. Now, if I could get my chops going like yours, I would be pleased!!

If it's gonna make me play like that - then I'll have three thank you. Excellent Shawn !!!!
Thanks Edward!
Another great demo. Man, your playing makes me go do some woodshedding everytime. Great tasty licks.
I just got this pedal tonight, and I love it. This video gave me so many more ideas on how to use it. I love 11:32. Great job. Great pedal.
came for the pedal, stayed for the playing.. mad skills man!
Thanks so much!
Absolutely killer phrasing and one of the best soft overdrive pedals out there. Great video demo Shawn, way to go!
I bet layered wiþ oþer gain ſtages, it could be killer for metal.
Nice chops and tone!!!
SOLD! Narrowed it down to three pedals of this type. This demo is the absolute best!
Kind of sounds like its rolling off the treble using the deep control. Sounds really good but then this guys playing can make anything sound good!!
Great demo and playing 👍
Love this pedal played on that LP.
Best reviews on RUclips. Period
+lawlaw1 Thanks so much!!

Still one of my favorite pedals!
Bought it, cant wait to get home to open mail and try it.....
Nice groove!
Hey Shawn, not sure if you read this... but I'd love transcriptions of the licks at 1:38 & 5:52... Thanks!
Shawn PLEASE do a demo of rockett pedals stacked ... ideally The Dude in front of a Tim Pierce.
holy crap how tasteful playing
Here goes a Longshot, can anyone name the song that the riff at 11:10 -11:12 comes from? This is killing me!
revelation by yellow jackets

how well does it work with a tube screamer into it

What’s the prs model used here??? I love the plain fretboard
is this the v2?
when you said that the dude "doesn't fall apart on me", you just sold me on two things:

Curious if the Dude adds any noise?
Mine is very noisy. To the point where I wonder if I have a dud.

Shawn, I thank you for doing these demos and showcasing these pedals with your ridiculous playing! My bank account, however, would not! Haha
that is the first prs i like the look of...
Dude cool
Nice Chops!
Nobody sounds like Robben, but you're damn close Shawn !! Amazing
Great demo! Diggin the pedal and the playing, next level Shawn! Is the Suhr 1×12 ported?
Yes it is. Two ports on the bottom. Thanks so much!
Excellent as always Shawn! Is the push box aspect of this pedal similar at all to the archer pedal? I only have space for one more pedal and can't choose between the two haha
+goldennug I think the Archer would be better as a push box if that's the application.
+Shawn Tubbs Got it, thanks for the reply. Keep up the good work!
God
double dog dare you to tab that out so I can learn it. heard you won't.
Amazing guitarist, but in a 13 minute solo it is not possible to appreciate the characteristics of the pedal.
I can answer any questions you may have about the pedal. Did you watch the complete demo vid?
Jealous?? I get it as a guitarist myself. But bro, I could listen to Shawn play all day, any day and I got plenty out of the video to know if it will pair well or not with my rig. Shawn’s skills playing is just a bonus to my ears. Just saying
everybody plays the same kind of shit. It's not by chance.
PRS ? Nope.
