I kind of understand, I also have a really unusual phobia and a lot of people don't take it seriously. You don't realize how hard it is to navigate the world with a phobia until you have one.

These unexplainable fears do make me think about how traumas might or might not actually can be carried over lifetime(s) (and yea, all kind of questions that is sparked by that)

I think it's proven that trauma can survive genetically over 2 or 3 generations

A phobia doesn't necessarily come from a traumatic experience, although sometimes it does. A phobia can come from something that just triggers a certain negative feeling. For example, Ike hates the sound of those big church bells and it makes him nauseous and panicked. That's all it takes for a phobia to be a phobia. At least I think this is how it works. I just got this info from my family, which are full of doctors.

I have a phobia of analog clocks and slow metronomes 😢 then end up getting the rainbow clock agency as a main special interest. the tism and phobia are at war for most songs

Poor Ikey. Love that he tries his best to deal with this fear and that others, here Nina, are so supportive in situtions where he is comfronted with it.

I get what he means about you don't realise how common it actually is. I have a fear of mascots, and you wouldn't think you'd encounter them too often. Sometimes they'll randomly be in a news story, or advertising something out on the street. But sometimes I'll see them in an anime, or k-dramas. Even though it can be animated, or through a screen, it's still scary. Luckily I've managed to avoid getting too close to one irl, but I was at a fair one time and I saw an Olaf mascot in the distance and freaked tf out, like there's no way I could ever go to Disneyland, that would be an actual nightmare unfortunately. And weirdly I'm not scared of Sanrio mascots, like they're fine for some reason, I don't get it. Maybe the it's eyes? But like Ike, I have no idea where it originated from, and it wasn't really a childhood fear either. But fr if one appeared right in front of me I feel like I'd either punch it or run and hide. I hope the latter bc I'm sure that the person inside the suit is probably really sweet or something, but I can't help thinking they're out to get me :/
