The "Classic 5" were pure magic. This group ran from 64 to 67 and had hit after hit.All R&B groups are based on them from the singing to their dancing.
yeah me 75 year old Ken Brociner -grew up in Freeport/Baldwin on Long Island been.in Somerville Mass for 50 yrs .. saw the Temps live only once - days after David Ruffin left/was kicked out of the group...still listen to their music and still lOVE them!
This song kills me with the clear soaring falsetto of Eddie Kendricks and the gospel tinged gravely sounds of David Ruffin demonstrates why the Temps were one of the BEST groups ever. Brilliant!
The arrangements were "off the charts". Full orchestra, great chords, great vocals! Boy, were these the days! I was 14 years old dancing in my parents living room with a fake mic in my hand!
Listen to Kendricks and that falsetto voice, one of the best around. And a little bit of Ruffin's raspy, soul voice, awesome duo. RIP brothers, and thanks for the memories.
I got to hear Eddie Kendricks in concert when I was a teen-ager. He not only had a fantastic falsetto, he had a baritone voice that was incredible, but very under utilized.
This was THE BEST Temptations lineup ever. Eddie and David sung the hell out of this song but the Charlie Atkins choreography was off the chain! He had these brothers so smooth!
I remember listening to a bootleg copy of one of their records that was pressed onto an old X-ray. Soviet Union summer 1967. Been a big fan ever since.
My mom is 68 n my dad would be 67 n they brought me up on all the classics. I'm 35 so my go to music is rap/hip hop. But I jam out to everything except country. Never really got into that.
Damn! There will never be music like this again! So many memories of Soul Brothers in jr. high, heading to high school. And listening to Motown music in the summer.
i lived in birmingham alabama homewood. i knew eddie personaly so down to earth used to come to my house. always had that megga watt smile birmingham has a statue of him down town hese thier own
sadly eddie died of lung cancer at prinston hospital stevie wonder came to see him stevie paid for every thing the bills hospital and yes his funeral buried him elmwood cemetery syevie wonder is a good person

How very tragic! Rodger Penzabene (writer of this song) was only 23 when he died. Thank you very much for your very informative prologue, complete with song lyrics.
***** I respect Otis for being an OG founder of the Temps and trying to keep the group together during hard times because I know it had to be rough working with so many personalities(even more so when coupled with drugs and etc), but 'vocally' I gotta agree with the other guy, he could have been replaced. He could have did all of what he did for the group behind the scenes. Because like David/Leon said in the movie, Wasnt nobody comin to see Otis.
One of the BEST songs of the original Temptations. I grew up with them and have never been more impressed by any other group as the TEMPS! Thanks for putting it back on here.
I was 14 years old when the Temptations first came out and I was in awe of them. I watched their dance moves and learned to do the "temptation walk". 💃 I couldn't wait to go to a school dance just to do that dance which was so popular then. I have fond memories of this super awesome group. They will forever be my number one soul group. Temptations forever.♥️
I have always LOVED Mr. Kendricks...since the day I heard YOU'RE MY EVERYTHING come out of my parent's console stereo as my sister Ginger played that Gordy record, over and over and over... . Seeing that old 45 decades later tucked away in a closet, the record was white with the endless playing of its grooves... ... .
I can't count how many times I've sung this song but, I I'm so thankful that I got the chance to sing it to two wonderful women in my life. Thank you Temptations for sharing such beautiful and meaningful music with me and the world.
Lisa Baby, "You surely must know magic girl, cause you changed my life. It was dull and ordinary, but you made it sunny and bright"...I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorite videos of the Temptations...along with the solo performances by the late great Mr. Eddie Kendricks and the late great Mr. David Ruffin. $PRICELESS!!
Unquestionably, without a doubt one of the best voices of all time and best song of all time. Absolutely no group are in the Temptations category, they stand alone in every category.
I was 9 or 10 the first time I heard the Temptations song "I want a love I can see". My mother continued to buy their songs, throughout the next 5 years. For the impact the Temptations had have on Pop and Soul music venues, it's surprising to know, they only worked a steady 5 or 6 years, before troubles broke them apart! Whatever "incarnations" came afterward, David, Eddie, Melvin, Otis and, Paul will always be THE Temptations, for me!
I was born in 1966, but I cant get away from the Temptations videos and its now 2017...They will always be remembered as one of the best groups period.....Same they couldnt stay together...
David Ruffin, and Eddie Kendricks pulled off the classic "Call & Answer" technique in the middle of this song.....this is one of the best love songs to come out of this period.....masterful work by the Temptations....

David Ruffin had a voice and stage presence like very few people have ever known.❤
Eddie and David's voices meshed together so perfectly. Simply amazing.
David tries to steal the song from Eddie, and it comes out magnificent
@Michael Woodward
Hi. As we know him & love him, when did David Ruffin not steal the show? 🎉
My favorite Temps song. Eddie and David trading lead on the song is perfection.
David may have tried but didn't. Eddie was magic. But they did sound great together.

Eddie had possibly the finest voice of any singer ever.

This Temptations song is a hidden treasure that helps a woman feel precious and understand how important she is in a man's life. So happy for it.
Probably the finest vocal group to ever grace a stage.
Multiple lead signers, voices blended together, they could have
They were the best

man, it was nothing like growing up in the 60's with all that fantastic music coming out of Motown. What a marvelous time to be alive!!!
The Temptations music should be mandatory in any classroom that teaches music in any school. They set the standard and they set it high.
Grreat idea. Yes! Any music class...they should study them.
I play it every chance I get to my classes! Peace!
Man, they could move and sing. The best ever.
