This is so good to know!! We’d like to visit these beaches and your map, video footage and info make it much clearer to understand. The horses on the beach are beautiful! Five lighthouses? WOW! We want to check out the Outer Banks. Great comparison friends!! Have a wonderful rest of the week!! 👏🏼👏🏼💖🤩
We highly recommend the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Those islands have beautiful beaches and so much to explore. The wild horses living out on the beach are amazing. We love the lighthouses and the historical sites - like the site of the Wright Brothers first flight for example. Such a cool place. Virginia Beach is nice too. But you should check out the Outer Banks if you ever get a chance. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Very informative and well put together video! We were in Virginia Beach back in 2019. I thought it was nice, but our daughters were in a cheerleading competition, so we didn't get to do very much. I vaguely remember that trip, though what I do remember was pretty fun. We have never made our way to the Outer Banks, though maybe someday soon. It looks really nice and relaxing, which is completely foreign to us. Our lives are chaos, and our travel is even more chaotic. At some point, a real vacation would be nice rather than always operating at such a breakneck pace with zero relaxation or winding down. It doesn't look like we will be taking a beach trip anytime soon, unfortunately, but that can very well change. I really appreciate how well you have presented both destinations through your channel.
We just returned from OBX this afternoon. We were in Manteo for a few days at the Burrus House Inn - a wonderful place overlooking Shallowbag Bay. We’ve stayed many times in Virginia Beach, Sandbridge as well as Duck, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, Rodanthe, Avon, Hatteras and Ocracoke Island. I agree that a younger person may prefer Virginia Beach for the night life and lively attractions. As a more “mature” person now, I prefer the quieter atmosphere of OBX.
We haven’t stayed at Burris House Inn yet but it is on our radar. We want to stay there and at Tranquil House Inn in Manteo as well on future visits. We actually do go to Virginia Beach about once every couple months because my husband’s family lives in the area. And we have a good time there. But our preference is to be in the OBX with you and the other “mature” travelers. Thanks so much for watching!
Great overview of both destinations... I want fancier hotels/resorts... and based on everything else you noted, I'm thinking maybe Virginia Beach for us... and we are going to consider these spots soon.. we are looking to expand our vacation destination menu... I do like the sounds of some of the history sites in the OBX though... thanks guys!
I’ve never been to OBX, and it’s been many years since I’ve been to VA Beach. I’m more of a Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown girl. Great video, wonderful insight.
I love beaches… but I am with you on being a Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown girl. Virginia’s Historic Triangle has so much to see and explore and we always learn something new every time we visit. Thanks so much for watching - and for taking the time to comment!
Both are great options! I love the boardwalk at Virginia Beach. I didn't know about the VB Go App. Great footage of both beaches. I would agree with you about the hotels/motels at both of the beaches. This is a great video for people who are trying to decide between the two beaches. As always, great video!
This is an easy choice! Outer Banks every single time! The Outer Banks may be our most favorite beach to visit! A few years ago we came across a ship wreck on the shores of the Outer Banks! It had been buried in the sand and a recent storm had washed away the sand to reveal the wreckage!
That is so cool! I would love to randomly find a shipwreck along the beach. That would be awesome! Outer Banks is such a wonderful beach destination. We already can’t wait to go back again soon. But Virginia Beach is fun too. Thankfully we can go to both!
I feel like a lot of people miss out by only visiting the beach in peak summer season. I understand why - it is definitely not enjoyable to swim in the ocean in colder months in Virginia and North Carolina. But it is wonderful to have a beautiful beach mostly to ourselves and enjoy the same restaurants and resorts at a discounted rate compared to peak season. I can’t recommend visiting beaches off peak season enough. You would love the Outer Banks. Lots to explore there. Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope y’all are doing well. Are you back up north yet?
Thank you so much for the very useful and informative travel information! We loved the both beaches you presented here so much! Can't wait for visit them soon! 12:37
I was surprised by your decision! After visiting both on the same trip, we definitely preferred Virginia Beach, and it's closer access to other attractions. We wish we had more time there, and would definitely go back. In contrast, we found the Outer Banks to be a very frustrating experience, and were quite disappointed.
Yes, I remember being disappointed on your behalf when we watched your Outer Banks videos. The summer you visited (2021) was the all time busiest year for tourism ever in the Outer Banks. I am guessing that was because many people hadn't traveled at all the year before and they wanted to get out. But I remember when we visited that summer, the main road through the Outer Banks was often like a parking lot and everything was crowded - and restaurants and attractions didn't have enough employees working. Ever since, we have tried to visit in the spring or fall and had a great time in the Outer Banks with low crowds. But we do love Virginia Beach too and can definitely understand why people prefer it. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts on which destination is better, Heather!
I agree with your choice. Although I’ve been to the OBX myself much more than VB and know it better so that probably influenced my choice. Only been to VB once and honestly most of what I know about it is through your videos.
Glad we are all in agreement. Though you really can’t go wrong with either choice. Really fun vacations are possible in both places. Thanks so much for watching - and for taking the time to comment!
As I have never been to either I would have to go and see both destinations. Great comparisons, however I am a fan of Lighthouses. Being a history buff, Outer banks would be my first choice. Thank you for taking us along on this tour. Have a great day Jack and Alice.
What a useful & informative video for planning to visit this beautiful place! The most affordable place to visit in the U.S.? Now that sounds like a great place to visit! Wow, those Lighthouses are super close! I like both areas for different reasons, lol. Thanks for this informative video😊.
Yes! Outer Banks is the most affordable among popular tourist towns. We love both Outer Banks and Virginia Beach for different reasons as well. But one big reason to love them both is that they do not get as hot as Orlando does in the summer. LOL. We do love Orlando - in the cooler months. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment!
We do love Virginia Beach as well. But we think you would really enjoy the Outer Banks too if you ever decided to visit. Those islands are beautiful. Thanks so much for watching - and for taking the time to comment!
We enjoy a more laid back atmosphere so we would (and have) liked the Outer Banks more. (visited both) I have never seen as many people on a beach as I did there! Outer Banks are the most inexpensive tourist destination? 😎😎 Count us in!
Yeah, apparently they ranked all the most popular tourist destinations in the US and Outer Banks was the most affordable. That is very helpful these days. And as a bonus, it is such a beautiful destination too. We always have fun in Virginia Beach too - and people with families who need a lot of activities or people who enjoy nightclubs would probably be better off in VB. But we’d rather take it slow on the islands. Thanks so much for watching!
Very informative and interesting, I had no idea they were so similar but so different. It sounds like the Outer Banks may be best for us with that laid-back vibe. We are a bit too old for night clubs and I love the idea of tour to see horses and the lighthouses, those are more our style and you had me at history buff! I'd visit both, but spend a lot more time at Outer Banks. (And the historic triangle is on my bucket list.) Thanks for the interesting comparisons.
It is fascinating how two beach resort areas right beside each other could end up so different. We love the both. But a laid back Outer Banks vacation is definitely better for us if we have to pick one. Thankfully we don’t. We really hope you get to the historic triangle sometime. We love that whole area. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Yes, we think Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks are both such beautiful beach destinations. With summer about to start, it is time to start planning some beach trips. Thanks for watching and commenting!
So true! OBX is a very popular mosquito resort destination. LOL. Bug spray is necessary during mosquito season. Thanks for watching, and for taking the time to comment!
It seems most everyone is agreeing that OBX is preferable. I can see why returning to the Virginia Beach are might not be at the top of your travel bucket list. But we thank you for your service!
I definitely love Virginia ⛱️ 🏖️ Beach there has been so much memories there for me that's one of the reasons. but I've been to both and they're both unique and their own ways. Virginia Beach has all that white sand you can lay out on I love that and I love the boardwalk. And I love to walk on there fishing piers. Nags Head is more laid back. But they got activities to do also I just know there's a lot of houses there instead of motels to rent. Or stay for your visit. Virginia Beach with their motels and oceanfront are exquisite. I guess it's all about your preference. If you like live bands and all that Virginia Beach is a way to go also.
Virginia Beach is a great beach resort and we love visiting it. It really has so much to see and do - especially the beautiful beach. It is hard to pick a favorite. The Outer Banks and Virginia Beach are both great. But we can see why you love Virginia Beach. We have a lot of great memories there as well.
Hey! OBX is such a special place. There is so much to explore on those islands. Such a beautiful place. Thanks so much for watching. We are glad you enjoyed our video!
It does get crowded in the peak summer season - especially on the roads trying to get from one place to another with all the other tourist traffic. We have visited off peak season the last few years and it is awesome with much less tourists around. Thanks for watching!
I love that this video showed up for me. I was born and raised in Virginia Beach. I go down to Hatteras, NC, all the time. It is so much more beautiful and less crowded. Even during tourist season, Hatteras isn't crowded!
Pack a lot of Patience 😍 Saturday Drive I Love it🤟
Oh, Be Love - XOXO
Patience is definitely needed. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

Nice breakdown of VA Beach & OBX
Thanks for watching! We love both these places and enjoyed sharing them with you!

Go to Hatteras. Even during peak time it is still calm.

Both look like entertaining places to checkout 😎

Beach ⛱️ is my all time favourite
We do love a nice visit to the beach as well. Thanks for watching!
We have never gone to the Outer Banks but this gives us some food for thought. It looks beautiful!

Man, it has been over 10 years since we were on the beach. Still one of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. LIKE 31. 👍👍👍
Yes, we think Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks are both such beautiful beach destinations. With summer about to start, it is time to start planning some beach trips. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’d love to see the lighthouses ❤Jenn
We agree, depends on what you prefer. OBX definitely wins with mosquitoes however LOL
So true! OBX is a very popular mosquito resort destination. LOL. Bug spray is necessary during mosquito season. Thanks for watching, and for taking the time to comment!
I enjoy both, but I think I prefer Outer Banks. I love Kill Devil Hill especially.
It’s not even a debate. OBX every time. I could be bias cause I did 4 years of hard time in VA Beach (US Navy).
It seems most everyone is agreeing that OBX is preferable. I can see why returning to the Virginia Beach are might not be at the top of your travel bucket list. But we thank you for your service!

cool video
Thanks for watching. We are glad you enjoyed it!
Virginia Beach has way better shops and restaurants in my opinion

Too many people at the OBX in the summer.

But I do have to admit I love the lighthouses in North Carolina nags Head.
The lighthouses of the Outer Banks are so lovely to see. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Never been to OBX! May have to go visit one day.
