- That's a model train layout of superlatives. In this film you can see one of the most beautiful and one of the largest model railroad layouts in 1 scale or 1 gauge. On this beautiful model railway layout there are two train stations, a large locomotive shed, a small mountain railway and a narrow-gauge railway. Cab rides were made on the main line and on the narrow-gauge railway line. By the way, the construction of this model railway layout took almost twelve years. While many loving details along the railroad tell little stories, numerous locomotives, train sets, passenger trains and steam engines are to be seen on the layout. There are more than 150 photographs of this unique model railway layout at www.pilentum.de.
I feel so good while watching this. This goes to show that "play" is just as important as all the other more "sensible" stuff. I'm not a train modeller, but I wouldn't want to live in a world without model trains. My appeal to all the "sensible" people: Please let the artists do their stuff and stop telling them they are wasting precious time on their passions...!!!

Modern carriage lighting might be of Blackpool Illumination levels but my recollection of incandescent lighting of the 1950s/60s is that it was more theoretical than actual, a real case of less is more.

"Hiding reality" is the most difficult skill for a cameraman to master. Pulling in close up to hide ceiling tiles or overhead fluorescent lights at just the right time can really prolong the escape. More and more of these cameramen are making these videos "art" in their own right.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!! At this level of perfection, it's no longer leisure stuff, it's art!!! Seriously. How long did it take to assemble the whole set? I love the short sequence that starts @ 52:55 when the train enters the old city. It looks totally real. Great job, great craftmanship!!! Bravo.

You've done an outstanding job on an amazing layout , the steam loco's look and sound great but the only thing missing ,no driver or fireman . Just looks out of place.
