Lovely kit Mos, thanks for reviewing and to Dale for acting as your glamourous assistant! The announcent of the additional decals is a very nice bonus, gives me a choice of vessels to build. Cheers!
This part is shrunk at the end. It results in big gap between window frame and the window. I would say it is rather disaster, than improvement of any sort.
Hi this is recorded in the old Scalextric factory in Margate right? Years ago I visited that place.... Anyway a very nice rescue-boat and I'm sure I gonna buy it. Keep it up😊
Very impressive, especially for a starter set. Hope it makes it's way down to Oz. The instructions look well detailed and laid out too, Airfix just keep improving their instructions.
Nice one Mos I’ve pre ordered already and can’t wait, my kit is a commission for my colleague who is a legacy named family on Anstruther’s new Shannon, we are both RNLI crew members at Arbroath LifeboatStation, where we have a D Class And An Atlantic 85 on service, we are Flanked by Montrose(Shannon) and to the south Broughty Ferry (Trent) soon to be Shannon and then Anstruther’s is the next Southerly station with a Shannon Class ALB, thanks for the heads up with this stunning looking Kit, great channel Mos keep up the good work Modellers, “Out”
If those extra decals sell well, it will be something Airfix will do with many other kits and other Hornby products. You should ask for sales commission 😊
That frame with the guard rails on could really have done with some more protection for such thin parts I hope mine, when I order it, makes it through the packing process.
Wiith the new Shannon Class kit which looks great, joining the Severn Class in the range i wonder if Airfix would cosider producing a lifeboat crew figure set to compliment the kits .
The 'Before You Start' guide is, I think, handy for anyone, whatever their experience. Laminate it and hang / pin it up in your workspace, and you have a handy dandy checklist for every build :)
Nice review Moss. Do they have "Marrie Celeste" on the additional names!!! Never mind extra names, I would have prefered some lifeboat men/women to extra names. Regardless, I will probably get one but it will still be a bit lacking. Perhaps Airfix might like to make a box of Lifeboat/survivor "soldiers".
Hello mr. Mos!that kit looks more like a fastdish to me.not like actual challenge. for excample to lift your modelling skillz to the next Level.but all in all its a nice little kit.with sticky greetings from sandy Brandenburg/germany.your modellmate.christian
This is a nice kit for someone who may be now coming into the hobby, or someone who hasn't built a ship model in a very long time like myself. Looks like it builds into a really nice model, Is it the same vessel that was in a set with the Sea King rescue helicopter some years ago or was that another one?
Loving the look of this set! The decals are a bonus but I think they've missed a trick. Why not do them individually as batches so that they can be sold with the set through the relevant lifeboat station? Even if it was £5 I'd rather pay that & get the full kit from whitby (my nearest) for £25. Now if airfix want to do a kit of my local lifeboat, the Zetland in redcar, which just so happens to be the world's oldest surviving lifeboat!
@@MOS6510Models another alternative could be they supply RNLI with a bunch of sets & they seperate them to be sent to each station. Other than that I guess it's someone buying a set & offering out the decals to others. Soooooo...... Anyone want to sell me whitby? 😂
I think for where this kit is initially marketed most buyers won't bother getting the extra decals, it can be completed 'as is' but for us few who want to model a particular vessel then the option is available, but it's your choice.
Decal sheet at £10 plus postage so to complete this starter kit it will cost you nearly £40 thats a no go especially when you onky need 1 set of decals for your chosen area. I have already pre orders the kit itself when it was announced bk in January these decals ahould have been inclusive in the kit ti start with. If Airfix is looking to lose customers its going the right way about it charging them £10+ for decals is an absolute joke.
I disagree with that.. As someone who buys decal sheets for different schemes for the builds i do, i have spent a £14.99 a time to do this. decals are not cheap to produce either. they could have not released the decal sheet and got 3rd parties to do it.. People asked them to do it, damned if they do....
@MOS6510Models I didn't realise there was 1 option included. I thought that in order to name it or number it at all you had to buy the decal sheet. My mistake. Looks like Swanage boat decals included.
Does the Decal sheet include "Taxi", "Uber" or "Free Channel Taxi Service " and does the kit include 50 figures and a few rubber boats ... You would be able to create a fantastic diorama of the "Channel Taxi" collecting their none fares whist in the distance the crew of a sinking Trawler look forlornly on .
I'm no sailor but what you said were rowlocks [pron. rollocks] were davits Mos. Rowlocks being the U shaped jobbies oars go in and davits being wot ropes get wound around to secure boats. I think. There again I could be talking a load of rowlocks *LOL*
To buy this kit - prf.hn/l/mVRMJkd (airfix website)
Lovely kit Mos, thanks for reviewing and to Dale for acting as your glamourous assistant! The announcent of the additional decals is a very nice bonus, gives me a choice of vessels to build. Cheers!
I was very well looked after by the team, Free postage on the decals too
The Severn was great, not an easy kit, but a great display. I can't wait to have the Shannon beside her! Thanks for reviewing Mos.
Thanks for watching :)
That's a nice looking kit. Thanks
Glad you like it
Love the single clear part! Makes it so much easier!
It does!
This part is shrunk at the end. It results in big gap between window frame and the window. I would say it is rather disaster, than improvement of any sort.
Great video and the end bit is so funny! haha!! - I wonder if they have the Blackpool one on the extra decals hmmm.
There is a huge list available
Nice one Moss, the outakes had me laughing !
I must put more in when i do videos... lol
@@MOS6510Models Well it was a high pressure scenario with Dale watching on 😀
Was Dale, your glamorous Assistant😂 Cool starter set
You got that right!
PMSL at the Blooper Reel at the end! Guys n Gals, if you stopped the video early, go back and watch right to the end!

I'm still waiting for the late 2023 releases to make their way to NZ. I'd love to get this set soon, but I won't hold my breath.
Many thanks!
The trees look old school, rather than 'frames' but the decal idea is inspired.
All the starter sets are like that.. I must revisit it with them when I see them in June
Very cool exclusive kit review Mos!
Very cool

I just want them to be successful :)
Thank you, I am looking at getting this kit not the starter one.
Great video MOS, it's a shame airfix have missed a decal off the sheet 😢
I don't do boats but this subject will be the exception. Heroes the lot of 'em.
Funny ending, really enjoyed this video, cheers Mos, Dale and team.
That frame with the guard rails on could really have done with some more protection for such thin parts I hope mine, when I order it, makes it through the packing process.
I dropped the box twice and it remained intacked,,, lol
I think this will be a lot of peoples first ship/boat model
YES!!!! thats been said a few times
Wiith the new Shannon Class kit which looks great, joining the Severn Class in the range i wonder if Airfix would cosider producing a lifeboat crew figure set to compliment the kits .
There is an aftermarket company that will create them i have been told
Nice one mate .I reckon we are due a surprise announcement from airfix lol.
i cant say... :)
Nice little kit.... but do we need the music 😂
Noted!
Excellent review- i have this on order from airfix (along with the belvedere and bulldog). Really looking forward to getting this now.
Hope you enjoy it! if you buy the decal sheet its free postage
You're so jammy :P Can't wait to get mine!
i thought you couldnt make it to margate? lol
@@MOS6510Models that’s true, I’m not available. I just wish they would hurry up and send my preorder out 😂

Do we have a release date for this ?

Do they do a rubber boat with this.....
....
Cool
Another tenner for the decal sheet really
Exactly mate well said
3rd parties would have charged the same
Seems reasonable
Airfix making extra money from what, arguably, should have been included with the kit anyway? Could be.

C'mon Airfix! A tenner just to name it!! What a stupid idea. Was going to pre order but not now.
