I've had my Abode/Iota functioning for a bit over a month and pretty happy with it. So far the only current "bummer" is that the Cam 2 doesn't integrate with HomeKit. I want to keep as many automations within HomeKit as possible. OTOH, I can't get HomeKit geofence automations to work but Abode's geofence works great and is easy to adjust. I can then use Abode's status to trigger some HomeKit automations. Over all...I'm happy.
So I just purchased the abode kit and was wondering if the automation in abode app just syncs with homekit? I want it to go through homekit, but I see that the abode app has the automation as well. Just trying to prevent it from being redundant. Did you do all the automation and scenes specifically in homekit?
Hey Guys, I've only recently joined your channel a few days ago! I have to say a massive THANK YOU to you both for a wonderful channel. I've been in the Apple eco-system for years - but only now doing the whole Homekit thing. The thought processes developed quickly when i got my Apple TV 4D HDR - Investigated thread, and a few homepods (four of them around the house), before I knew it, was heading down the store to get my home a little bit smarter. You're ALMOST at 1,000 subscribers - Congrats Josh and Brayden. Your presenting style, editing and content is on-point! Very easy to watch. Keep doing what you're doing. I'm going down the Nanoleaf bulb path at the moment, however stock is an issue over here in Australia. Take care and seriously, thanks again :-)
Hey, thanks so much for watching and I'm excited you are diving into HomeKit! I would for sure try to score the Nanoleaf bulbs if you can find them... Be sure to upgrade them to latest firmware too.
@@OurAppleHome : Heya Josh! Thanks for the fast reply mate! :-) I've got six nanoleaf bulbs in the house so far. Plus, as you've suggested, all updated to the latest firmware :-) All up, I need another 19 of them to complete the home!!! :-) I'm really excited about thread - Seems a real low-latency game changer. I'm struggling with the Phillips Sensors / Dimmer switches to be honest. They work 80% of the time. That other 20% - 'Not Responding - Much to my wife's annoyance. Sigh. The 'wife-factor' is important in a Smart Home. She's loving it so far. Even something simple as the pantry light coming on with the nanoleaf bulb and the Phillips Hue sensor - She LOVES. In speaking with Nanoleaf, they've informed me that their Learning Series switches/sensors was unfortunately delayed, and will come at the end of 2021. Thanks again mate! Take care.
@@benjaminfox7105 honestly, look at the lutron switches and the Eve door and window sensors. Lutron isn’t thread, but super rock solid on a 434mhz custom signal
@@OurAppleHome : Great advice, my friend! I've actually got x4 of the Eve door and window sensors on order - I'll see how they go and maybe order some more. Unfortunately, Australia is very VERY locked down when it comes to installing anything to do with mains power - If you do it yourself, you effectively void your home insurance. The connected house switches will be sometime in the future, once I plan everything out. Take care mate and have a great week!
Recently started watching. Big fan of Josh and Brayden and I enjoy the content. But that music is just irritating. It’s incredibly repetitive and detracts from the quality. Ignoring that, great job guys.
Love your channel. I’m going to be purchasing a new home for me and fiancé who are expecting our first kid. And I’m looking into a security system and abode is one that I’ve been looking into because of the HomeKit compatibility. My question when you get a chance to get to it would be what’s the difference between the gateway option and the iota kit.

Hey Josh, any update on if you're still using your abode system or how you're liking it?
The magnet should actually go on the door and the recessed sensor should go in the door frame 😊
Is it possible to trigger the Abode alarm using Aqara window/door sensors?
I just got the Abode iota an would like to know about setting up other devices. The alarm doesn’t seem to be very loud.

Any new news on Iota?
I contacted Abode and they claim you can have access to HomeKit integration regardless if you pay for a monitoring subscription. Please verify…
Is there a way to not have the motion sensors trigger in HomeKit when in night/home mode? They always set HomeKit off every night.
Great video! Do you know if their cameras also work with Apple TV? I want for my tv to pull up the video feed.
I am pretty sure their 'doorbell' camera works with HomeKit, not sure about the other ones. We don't put cameras *inside* the house

Great video Josh! I am a fan of that recessed door sensor. Very cool and looks super clean.
Thanks! 👍
I'm on the fence between the iota vs. gateway version; leaning towards the iota.
We didn't get the Iota because we don't do cameras inside the house.
@@OurAppleHome thanks, I went with the gateway and just got my homepod mini today. They gave a free camera, I'll use that for the garage.
2 months in … how is the system working out ? What cameras do you use for outside the house any flood lights?
Any update
We use the Eufy 2 Pro cameras outside the house (ruclips.net/video/efLuuj8PHY8/видео.html). The alarm system is still good and we are happy with it.

Almost, at 999!
I would never hear that sound if I where sleeping
