I remember this match very well. Ferrero was leading 2 sets to 1, and in the fourth set was 3-1 and serve, when Guga did a stop, using the "medical time-out". It broke Ferrero's rythm. Anyway, this match was really a final. Guga was the best clay court player of the era; Ferrero was clearly the second.
This year, Spain won its first Davis Cup, having Ferrero as the hero. He defeated Safin, Kafelnikov, Rafter and Hewitt (4 ATP number ones) to win the tournament.
    Two awesome players. Miss them.

    • @ArturVarejao
      @ArturVarejao 5 лет назад +1

Aqui no Brasil o governo apoiou numa época.
Segundo tema é a concorrência do jogo universitário vs profissionalizar. Então mtos jogadores tenta a carreira profissional.

Ron P I agree. But unfortunately for the very tall people tennis is dominated by people who can hit hard and run like the wind. The tallest players don’t have the speed and mobility of Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, etc.

Ron P I agree. But I think Del Potro is a rarity. Guys like Isner, Querrey, Karlovic, Victor Amaya (6’7” tennis player from years past) don’t dominate like the fleet of foot. It seems the best players are around 5’10” to 6’3”. Another guy who hit extremely hard was Marat Safin. I think he was 6’4” and could crush balls off serve, return, forehand, and backhand. Extremely talented and yet only won 2 majors.

watching clay court game is relatively boring when compared to Grass / hard courts . Completing a point takes lot of gruelling rallies in clay court ( infact bit boring) which even gives wear and tear to the body of the players. Its a different skill set which was shown by likes of bjorg, jim courier, ivan lendl , sergi brugera , kuerten and then Nadal. good memories of kuerten brought back.

Looking back at this match today, Rafa clearly moves better than both these guys and hits the ball harder than them as well. Hence 11 and counting here.

I think Guga in best form will easily beat Nadal in his best form.

      Really???
      jajajajajajajaja
      Is this a joke????
If you say that or you are a fanatic suporter or you do not know much about tennis!!
I was watching tennis a long time ago because I am a tennis fan.
Nadal is more powerful and more class tennis than kurten!!!
      He is miles away!!!
Kourten has to sufer to win in the 2 Roland Garros finals he won.
One was Ferrero in 5 sets and the other one an unknown american.
Nadal in the 13 Roland Garros won, he just lost 2 games!!!
There is a big difference in numbers and the way to win.
And Nadal won that titles facing the best player in history Federer and the 3th Djokovic.
There is no comparision betwen Nadal and anyone in clay!!

This video failed to show the score within the first 90 seconds, so that means it's lame AF .

It’s a good thing they both won the French Open before 2005 cos otherwise .......... do I really need to say it?

I believe prime Kuerten would have beat 2005 Nadal but after that probably not
