Lovebirds are very cuddly. Mine used to "nest" in my hand, sort of shifting his feet back and forth to get comfortable. I miss him so - I plan to get another lovebird soon.
I agree with many of the post, lovebirds are amazing. I too had a lovebird. He was with us for 17 wonderful years. Baby was his name. I miss him very much.Jellybean is adorable and reminds me so much of Baby. He loved smuggling with us. Such a sweet video! Thanks for posting!
hes very soft, the little feathers around his neck are extra soft, the feathers on his head and the rest of him are more study. Jellybean loves to be cuddled and "preened", its coming into summer time now and hes starting to lose some of his thicker winter feathers and get new ones, so being preened is just something he adores at this time of the year...mind you hes ALWAYS there for a cuddle and scratch, hes very very affectionate, we adore him.
hehe-they are such firecrackers when they want to be! so much personality in such little bodies! If Polly had something to say-you heard about it and you knew exactly what he was saying!
Your lovebird is beautiful, what a sweet boy. We had to put my peachfaced boy down last week due to a very aggressive tumour and I miss him so so much... He was very similar to yours, incredibly human tame and so so cuddly. Enjoy your bird to the fullest as you just never know when you are going to lose them... Skittles was only 9 =/
Very nice, relaxing video for a change! I often see people petting their birds too rough, too fast, too much. Yours is just perfect. He is giving you lots of trust.
what is it about lovebirds? they are truely amazing! i mniss mine everyday as well....had him 18 years and he died over two years ago and i still miss him!
What an adorable video! This is really a proof of what you can accomplish when you don’t try to ”trick” or “train” an animal into trusting and loving you. The first time I had my late lovebird sleeping in my hands like this, completely trusting me, feeling completely safe, was one of the proudest moments in my life :)
He reminds me of my late Mott The Hoople; he is beautifu. I have a pied lovebird who is bonded to me now; his name is Mr. Turkle. The Turk will chomp at anyone who comes near us while we are bonding. I love him with all my heart and soul, same as I did the late Mott...gorgeous little birds, aggressive beings, and smart!
Nice work, chickabeee. I love to see the bond that you and Jellybean have together. They're just like little kids, aren't they? Like some others have mentioned on here, I lost Max, my lovebird, a few years ago. He ingested some foreign object that blocked him up. Be careful. They can get into mischief while wandering around your home.
we just adopted a peach face love bird. noone wanted him because he has a weird leg. it sticks out some but he has use of it so hes not totally crippled. right now we are waiting for him to trust us and just being patient. hes coming around but its a slow process. beautiful little birds.
I love your video and I love your answers to people. Personally I get really angry when people think they can “trick” animals into being tame somehow. I can’t help but thinking “With that attitude, no wonder your bird doesn’t trust/like you!”. It’s all about being consistent, not pressuring them and earning their trust. I had a lovebird just like Jellybean too, so tame he would ask politely for scratches :) I miss him every single day…
you CAN NOT trick a birdy to be tame and LOVE you, what they give in the way of friendliness and return love is UNCONDITIONAL, when they love you its FOREVER
XD Sounds like my babies, cashews every day, you just say cashew and they won't stop until they get it!! But your baby lovebird really is a cutie and he just looked sooo happy in your hand there, I miss when my babies did that. Now I am lucky if I get them to cuddle to my neck.
My other lovebird, Einstein, doesn't like to be touched but he does like to lay on me. I've never had a bird actually lay down on me before. Perch? Yes. Nestle in? Yes. But Einstein lays down flat on his stomach with his head to the side. I'm always taking pictures of him doing it because it fascinates me. Such an unusual sleep position from a bird in my experience. I've been keeping parrots for almost 20 years and I've never seen anything like it. Crazy bird.
I have a peach faced lovebird and her name's Pippi. We found her on our back fence and took her and we could tell that she flew away because she wasn't scared of us at all! And you could tell her wings had been clipped because she could fly, but she had to flap her wings really hard. We've had her for 9 months now and she can FINALLY go on my hands, although she's not used to it yet. I can't wait to do that to my birdie!!
Aaaaw. I want to cuddle your love bird. Such a cutey. I had many years ago only a budgie. And he didn´t talk because I told him so much words. He don´t speak. My husbands parents have a very talkative cockatiel.
Lovies chirp loudly all the time. Thing is that their chirps are high-pitched, so that might not sit well with some people. For me, I don't care...I loved Mott The Hoople, and I love Mr. Turkle, so let 'im chirp away. Don't always appreciate one of The Turk's high-pitched shrieks in my ear, but I live with it daily and that is what loving Mr. Turkle is all about.:)
Just give her time, there is no rushing love and affection from pet birdies, its taken me over 6 years to get Jellybean to this stage where he is ABSOLUTELY at home and feels safe with me.
Aww so cute, when will my love bird calm down like this? He's only 9 weeks old and very allert, he loves to spend time with me but were going through the random biting stage! X
Cassandra, you may have a female lovebird. Both will cut strips of paper, but the females especially. Then they tuck the strips of paper into their tail feathers for nest building. One of my bird's favorite toys was simply a plastic vitamin bottle that I put a metal wine bottle cap inside, so that it rattled as he rolled it around and played with it.
Of course loads of toys/treats/loving and playing helps too XD Then again I am one of those people who spoils my baby birds. Even the one who, while "tame" (Which I still have a hard time putting that label on them, I think they are never truly tame but they just choose to be part of my flock) does still bite when he's in a mood still gets all the loving he'll tolerate when he's up for it.
Jelly comes out of his own cage all by him self, he is free-flight most of the day, he only sleeps in his cage at night or a place to feed or to retreat too if he want a quiet nap...his wings have never been clipped. I have had Jelly now for over 6 years, so this is many many years of getting used to me and training...you can NEVER rush their affection. When I first got Jellybean he was "nippy"..it all takes time.
aww i had lovebirds, then my male got sick (he wud never let me touch) he knew he was dying n he wanted to be held so he let me snuggle with him, it was so sad! this reminds me of him... :(
Wish my lovebird would do that, though occasionally he likes his neck scratched and closes his eyes. He tends to be jittery and hyperactive no matter what I do to calm him down, and he makes a LOT of noise. He's very tame however, and almost too attached to me.
it's like he's smiling....so sweet
stop anthropomorphizing raptors

Jellybean is very trusting of that person to lay down like that in their hand and closing eys and relaxing.
Lovebirds are very cuddly. Mine used to "nest" in my hand, sort of shifting his feet back and forth to get comfortable. I miss him so - I plan to get another lovebird soon.

Sometimes I also feel that parrots smile.

The is beautiful to see and it's obvious that this lil lovebird loves you very much. Thankyou for giving him a happy loving home ❤❤❤
My baby Sunny does this. Just loves the head rubs. They're such sweet little birds!
very, very cute. its very rare that my lovebird likes being cuddled like this..shes picky about that but loves nonstop attention haha..
Jellybean is such a beautiful bird!!
hehe-they are such firecrackers when they want to be! so much personality in such little bodies! If Polly had something to say-you heard about it and you knew exactly what he was saying!
What a sweet little guy!

That is the sweetest little video (and birdie too). Reminds me of my little peach faced baby, Pippin :)
He loves it... so cute.
Awe I wish my parrot would do this.
Pure contentment in this beautiful lovebird.

I've never seen a bird smile before.

I want to cuddle your love bird.
Such a cutey.
I had many years ago only a budgie. And he didn´t talk because I told him so much words. He don´t speak.
My husbands parents have a very talkative cockatiel.
i can SEE the bird smiling!! awwwwwwwwwwww
this reminds me of my 2nd bird i had when i was little
Gosh, that's so cute.
That's for sure! No wearing black in the birdroom! My African Grey [Timneh] is dusty too AND she hates baths so she's bonus messy. Kids, right? lol
Che tenerezza...😍😍😍

aawwwww you can actually see him smiiiiileeeeee :D soooooo cute!!!
Other than my Cockatoo, no one enjoys a scritch more than my Lovebird, Peachie. :D

looks so innocent and cute :D
So cute. How does it feel like? Is he cuddly like a duckling or does he have rather sturdy feathers?
My love bird also is a meanie.. When you hold him he doesn't bite or anything, but he dislikes it. And he is mean to other parrots xD
@Dragotheone
some lovebirds can be nasty, Jellybean used to bite when we first got him, after 6 years now, he just gives luv in return
they are extremly loud but its a sign that they r happy and its better that they talk and sing rather than sit quietly in a corner
How adorable it looks the same as my peachface, the same colours. I have a couple of videos of my one on my youtube account
yes he looks at me with sweet little eyes of love and smiles and snuggles :)
omg peach faced lovebirds r amazing :)
i had one she was amazing
So precious
I wonder it it's still alive.

Aaaaaaw..... How cute is that 😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚
your lovebird looks bigger than most lovebirds. i know cause i got 9. Its so relaxing to rub their heads.
Adorable!!!!
Way to cute!!!!
jellybean is such a sweet little baby
I wish my lovebird would let me handle it. it grew up with no human attention until I received it and I give it a lot of attention
Wish my lovebird would do that, though occasionally he likes his neck scratched and closes his eyes. He tends to be jittery and hyperactive no matter what I do to calm him down, and he makes a LOT of noise. He's very tame however, and almost too attached to me.
