i wonder how many of my navy pals that were in the groton bars for happy hour in 81 are still alive & still listen to fountainhead. good memories for sure.
I recorded this off of PLR. I was just a kid... 15. This band made me believe I could touch it, I could feel the power of music- they were local, but they were playing their own music and selling tickets. And that set me on my incredible journey. Thanks for taking me back to a beautiful time in life.
I saw these guys at least 25 times back in the day. They we're as good as Molly hatchet, outlaws and Marshall tucker. Many great shows at Toads place, Oxford ale house, pine crest, keg house. The Barletts back yard. Ect...
Gordy is my first cousin on my mother's side he taught me a lot about playing drums in the early 70s haven't seen each other in years can't seem to locate him
Well, I got record collections from all sorts of people, so one day I decided to record this...then nailed it to a wall in my musical livingroom...lol..So cool knowing you were there...I'm up the road in Woonsocket...ride my cycle out in Conn all the time
I've recently been in contact with the songwriter of Fountainhead with regard to re-recording Stay Away in 2023 with my band BackTrax. I thought it would be a great tribute to this band and top the memory of my old neighbor and family friend Ken Griffen, keyboardist and vocalist. Would you guys like to see this come to fruition?
@@seldengriffen9770 Hi Selden, thanks for reaching out. Your dad was a great guy and I actually spoke with him about a week before his passing. He and David Kufta used to stay at our family house at Martha's Vineyard back in the 60's-70's while they were playing on the island. Back in CT he was my neighbor. We will be going back into the recording studio sometime in September and will hopefully get this done by the fall of 2023.
My father left All the rights to his part if the band to me on his deathbed Hours later, I held him to death In the same hospital, he brought me to life in 1981 I’d love to get into singing again and I used to do this cover in the band I’m sure we can work something out I haven’t talk to the other members of the band in quite some time I’m very shy, only my father knew… Anyway, reach out to me
Man, this brings me back. I turned 18 in Dec '80. You could see great, local live music every night back then and had the top bands coming to the New Haven Coliseum and the Yale Bowl as well. I'm so glad I was around then to see it. It would be great if 'PLR had a show called Back in the Day or something and played things like this. Thanks chazmology!
Saw them 7 times at toads and pinecrest outdoors also Oxford ale house . Me and my buddies enjoyed every performance. Still play there music and Talented band of good guys
Great band. Agree with bad timing. Johnny was a local legend that deserved much more recognition. Had a chance to express that when I saw him play at a local pub a few years ago. He really appreciated it. RIP Johnny and Ken

I remember I was on the road crew for a band called “The Other Band” I was a guitar tech. The opening act for Fountain head they actually messed with the sound to make us sound bad. Why do that, unbelievable there was so much tension that night.

Genuinely one of the best. Johnny could have shone in any band. As Kenny’s son, I have a lot of respect for him.

Mu Uncle was the drummer!!!
My Daddy
knew them when. fing bs fd them.
Memories of the Nightowl
These guys should've been MONSTER big. Sadly, they were rollin' when the musical pendulum had swung back in favor of 3 Chord / 1 Time Signature bands.
Yep, just missed their window. Still great to see how much love they get in CT! They were phenomenal and left a legacy regardless.
