This level was already phenomenal, yet somehow after watching this it's better??? I often talk about how there somehow can never be a perfect level, and that somehow EVERY level no matter HOW good it is has to have some problem with it. After literal years I have finally found the exception. I'm so happy that I got to play this, and although I've mainly quit the game for now, I'm excited to see what you make in the future. Much love ♥

Neurostasis is easily one of the best levels in the entire game, definitely in my top 3.
There was a detail that i noticed while i was going for 56-100 that wasnt mentioned in this video which makes me think it was unintentional.
In the 4x part, the glitched structures consistently swap between being fake blocks in the normal gp, and being real blocks in the corridors/stretches, almost as if the brain is having trouble distinguishing between whether or not the chaos is real or if it's just a side effect of the corruption.
Edit: It could also represent the brain succumbing to the corruption and registering the chaos for complete reality, before recomposing itself moments later and being thrown into a cycle of insanity.

I tried to indicate that they're not passable in the long stretches with the colourful glow behind them. I can't say I intended for it, but I like that interpretation!

I was gonna just leave a joke comment here but damn this is a genuinely amazing video. Loved the way you explained your thought process, which was really effectively in furthering my already deep appreciation for the level as well as teaching me useful editor tricks (even as someone adamant in never becoming an effect creator). A lot of the details you mentioned out are things that I had some vague idea of but never really pinpointed, such as the theming and the way that neurostasis builds upon the ideas from your previous levels (like, yeah I noticed that the ship gameplay was pretty dreamer-esque, but it goes so much further than that).
Btw you're welcome for the song :)

i got a different story about this level before watching this video. my original thought was that this level is about some kinds of reflections in a near-dead person's brain. in 0~3% the whole sence is dark means that the person had experienced an accident and was in a coma. then the background and structures become bright white implied that person was in hospital. and the tube-like things on the background represents tubes used in breathing machines.
then it switched to the ship part and everything become slow and dark represents the person had lost consciousness. maybe he took anesthetic injection and was having a surgery. or maybe his injury was just so severe that he became unconsciousness. the ship part is the representation of his cerebration. at the beginning, the brain could work correctly for the moment, so the 0.5x speed part and 1x speed part looks well-formed. but as time went by, the brain was gradually losing abilities to process things, so the things become more and more chaotic. there is another explaination, consider the ship part(18%~91%) as a life review. it went slowly at first but speeded up so the memories came up fast even the brain itself couldn't process them, so the structures became glitchy.
in the last, the brain came to a stagnant status, namely, Neurostasis. in this status, things became completely static and shattered means the damages to his body and nervous system were invertable. the structures seemed to managed to recover itself, but it was just terminal lucidity. after the player entering the cube portal, the level turned into grey and the player fell into ground, means the termination of life(you might make these details by coincidence, but i think it could nicely reflect this circumstance).

I first saw this level from AeonAir and I still thank the heavens that the wheel decided to shine the light for your level that day 🤣
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a level that has given me chills while watching the gameplay for the first time. So interesting seeing your break down of everything and how you planned the progression of everything throughout.
You’ve heard it a lot that the end result is absolutely stunning but still I must reiterate that myself; motivates me to get good enough to try and beat this for my first extreme (I haven’t even beaten a classic insane but hopefully I’ll get there 😅)
Amazing work and what a gem of a level!
