Hey! Anybody has any suggestions how can I get myself into professional cricket in England as an international student?? I really have belief in my technique and skill. just not getting proper place to play matches.
I like to see the mixture of the vlog style footage along with the go pro stuff. Ultimately it’s about trying to take that pressure off yourself to score runs to make a video, try and play your game and go out there and enjoy the cricket. If you get that low score then like you said put the go pro on whilst your keeping or even ask one of the other players if they would wear it for a bit to get another different perspective. IMO it’ll be a bit of trial and error with these type of videos but I think they will do well over time and I do enjoy them.
Absolutely keep it up with the GoPro vlogs Dan, the beauty of being a keeper is that even if the batting doesnt quite go to plan, you always have the keeping to fall back on and produce an entertaining video, even if the opposition batsman hit some nice shots and you capture it from your POV it makes for great viewing! Keep it going 👊
The vlog style is good mate, I love seeing the grounds and a bit more about the day than just your innings (which are key off course), but bits and bobs about the ground and clubs and the day in general seems like a good formula
@@danjadzx it’s something different, that I know I appreciate. It showcases locales and picturesque grounds that we wouldn’t ever see otherwise, and it lets you be yourself and express more than just feeling like (I have to make X amount of runs to fill time) cos we want you enjoying yourself too and not stressing about it mate
Yep agree to go with your own version of vlog style or more of say ‘a day in the life of a club cricketer’ and show more before and after, setting up, interviews with other players. It’s a team sport so to show that side would be cool. On the two low g-pro scores do not worry at all, you are showing what it’s actually like to be a club cricketer and when you do get a 30+ score showing your delight and teammates delight will be some great viewing. Also definitely have it on for keeping no matter how the batting went. Keep up the great content and maybe see you at the hundred again if you go.
You’ll find your rhythm on this stuff - I personally like the mix of vlog and footage. Even if you think there’s not huge amounts of GoPro footage I’d always stick it on whilst keeping - always likely to pick something up worth including. Doing a great job, keep it up.
I like your format, but I had the same thinking as you did. I've only started playing and recording my batting this season. I've not spent much time out in the middle and also found myself wanting to alter my format to make the end product somewhat more interesting and engaging. I'm still working out exactly what my "format" is, but I've started trying to make it about more than "just me". I've included clips from the fielding or other batters, and in upcoming videos as we near the end of the season, I will expand it to include references to the league positions just to expand the storytelling element. I'm not sure anyone wants a video purely watching some old bloke bat poorly - but perhaps they will enjoy a season-long story about a team and their fight to stay in the league All that said - I loved your video. Your synchronised transitions from the side camera to the helmet camera are amazing and seamless - I really enjoyed those
Hey dan, its always going to be tough starting up again and can see youre feeling the weight of it sometimes and huge kudos for opening up to your subscribers on it. If you setup a camera to get other action you might feel a bit more free but just enjoy your game. Seems like youve had a few opportunities at a higher level and that can be tough. Most people enjoy watching village stuff! Keep going, youll find your way through . FWIW i prefer watching a game to a net style vid.
Definitely like the vlog style as it addds interest and helps to feel more a part of the game with you. I love to see the keeping stuff as well. having retired from cricket with shot knees, back and shoulder this is my lifeline :)
I enjoy these king of vlogs where you show the different grounds and we get to admire the beautiful and calm village cricket along with the player interactions, just gives a authentic feeling to it which is more engaging and enjoyable.
Tough luck mate, I completely agree though, I found it really hard adjusting to bat with a GoPro, however, you just have to try and play your natural game and forget it’s there - easier said than done I know! I am definitely going to try and take a leaf out of your book and try to vlog more, great content as usual 🔥🔥
Set yourself goals when you bat. What I do is: 1: block the first ball. 2: Get off the mark. 3: get into double figures. 4. Then have a go and see what happens. I have managed to get my average to just above 20 over time. This is good for me. Most of all - enjoy the game and if you are not scoring runs then be an asset in the field, stop runs by blocking the ball with your face, teammates love the commitment, get the team chirping. or take a catch or assist a runout and bowl a maiden or take a wicket. There are ways to be an asset for the team when you are not performing well.
I’d think all the go pro guys best videos are the ones when they make runs/big runs - but if you can bring that (maybe relatively occasionally…esp vs 1st class players) but can bring another perspective…perhaps unlike the other guys - league cricketers mainly - you get to tour around amazing grounds, or meet interesting characters etc - all whilst go pro batting + keeping
It’s enjoyable man! If you are worried about length, you could do what Gareth does from CanYouCricket? Also would be cool to see from a wicketkeepers angle 😊
Hey Dan there's no right or wrong way. Do what you enjoy. I'd say the style shows your personality really well. But I feel the same way about the lack of footage when I don't get many runs, so I'm trying to add other things that tell the story of my personal experience. For example we just started a club out here with no facilities and very few games. So some of the gopro vids/vlogs haven't actually had any cricket but reveal info on the state of amateur and professional cricket. What about the 'cricket week' you were at? Looked quite a big event!
@@danjadzx a small mountain town called Revelstoke in British Columbia, Canada but originally I'm from Staffordshire 🤣 The amateur cricket scene is just starting to take off here, you would be welcome any time! I come back to the UK from time to time and play so I'm sure I could sort you out a game at some point also there.
You've got to do what you feel is best for you. Certainly going to take the time to watch the content whatever it ends up being, whether it is just a vlog or whether there is GoPro footage thrown in of batting and keeping as well. Have some fun with the videos mate.
Don't be too disheartened, we all struggle for form. I think perhaps the struggle you are having to generate content in the last few videos is just that you've been playing at a standard that, if I may be so bold to say, is going to get the better of you most of the time. Please don't think I've come to the comments section to insult you, and call you rubbish, that's not my intention at all; we're all at a different standard in the game, but what is important is that we enjoy it. I don't come to your channel to watch high-standard cricket, or glorious cover drives. I come to your channel because you seem like a decent bloke, and you work hard to generate value; your honesty shines through and that's why you've kept my subscription. I love watching your batting videos, and I hope you keep doing them, but please don't think that you need to play at a high standard against high-quality oppositions for the videos to be entertaining. I'd much sooner watch you score a 50 in div 10 (I'm sure you're better than that!) than scrape a handful against ex pros. Personally, I'd love to see you get more involved in village cricket, and I can't wait to celebrate your first 100 on camera with you in the comments section.
Just enjoy yourself mate. I was injured for 5 years playing on and off with pain. Its more painful not being able to play at all. You will miss it when its over. Its just a game. Treat it like its a nets session and have fun!
Congrats on first go-pro runs of the season. Mabye in future you should play against a crap team to look good. Keep making these videos, I personally love these
The style of video is great with the vlog style. Getting out for low scores is just part and parcel of cricket, doesn’t make it a less enjoyable video. If anything it shows the reality of playing the game. Would it be worth doing a monthly video of you playing rather than weekly, which will probably make it again more of a vlog style video, just food for thought. Keep up the good Dan
I think people like you Dan because you appear genuine and love the game... maybe not such much because of your batting haha. Make videos for yourself, it doesn't matter if your viewers enjoy it if you're not. Do what makes you happy... you gotta look after number 1 👌
Mate. I like the Vlog style. Im pretty decent with the ball but probably the same level batting. It's good to see someone struggle for runs like I do 😅. Obviously, meant it in the best possible way. 😊
Do what you enjoy mate. If go-pro in the middle isn't what you fancy then don't, make it more about the journey/match/people. Wear the go-pro while fielding or in non-pressure parts of cricket
Keep going bud, relatable cricket is good content. Rick Shiels is the biggest golf youtuber in the world, and he is not a particularly good golfer! I think with everything you need to keep bringing the energy and the sarcasm, which is your biggest strength. Do you need to find a collaborator to go to these matches with maybe who can bring the banter out of you? Keep going!
Hi dan, i loved this cricket vid, can you keep posting club cricket vids pls, if you are sturggling with these vids you can go to the nets and practice with a go pro on for confidence, all the best dan, have a good week❤❤
Vlogs are fine but think u should focus more on from keeping wicket view point for the match action. Appreciate not everyone is going to be able to bat or bowl or have ghe ability to, but if u keep wicket it's something a bit different cause as u say, ur batting is questionable at best !
Honestly Dan just do as you best so fit. The OurCricket community back you so much we are going to watch regardless. Keep up the good work
appreciate you!
Love the vids keep your work mate your a good cricketer

thanks man, its a learning curve :)
Some absolute gold in between the overs with Bash 👌🏽👌🏽
great to have you with us for the day pal, stay well!
thanks for letting me play, Bash can hit a ball! but a man of few words

Loved it! Your batting stance is quite interesting to be honest!
You should bring more like this!

love the vlog style
Loving the new stuff!

think the WK stuff could absolutely work :)
Loved the vid Dan

I like it, but want to see you go the tonk in a video or 2😄
2 runs next time, onwards and upwards!
Keep the vlogs going on. Just think of what you would post in a highlights package
