Brilliant, thanks for that. I made much the same journey from 1961 until about 1970. Great memories.

Absolutely Brilliant - I’ve driven this route many times, and recognise every bend and corner - both now and then....when my favoured transport were Ford Anglias.

Well spotted Toni Bell van. Had an ice cream in a plastic bsll. Once eaten you could play with the ball. PS was Archibald not Newport schoo!

I often travel to Port Clarrie but the road after the Railway is now closed off and all buildings gone. Where was the works and did the road continue on?

If you had a car and a cine camera in those days, you were classed as pretty well off, great film did you notice how clean of clutter and shite the streets and roads were?.

I need to get out more. Now end of October 2022 & I didn't know that Newport Bridge had been painted Red/Grey. I thought it was still Green. Shows how often I use that route now as it used to be pretty much a daily shortcut instead of using A66/A19 or vice versa depending how I felt/traffic. Sheesh, how time flies. EDIT:- Apparently it was repainted in 2014/15 so MUCH longer than I thought since I drove over it. Jeez, getting on for nearly a decade! I feel ashamed hehe 🤣

Like this video especially the Middlesbrough Corporation buses which ran services using the alphabet

With the "O" bus of Middlesbrough twinned with the "0" (ZERO) bus of Stockton. North Ormesby to Stockton and Norton, but mainly Stockton provided the buses. The TRTB Buses and Trolleybuses. The short lived TMT, the first Turquoise Buses in 2 Shades!. Initially TRTB combined their Green and MCT Blue but had to change to a more "Blue" Turquoise that the mix of Stockton and Boro Bus mix presented. "Y" & "Z" were the only circular routes I remember, same route opposite directions.

Fabulous - but the Vauxhall Viva HB seen at Haverton Hill roundabout suggests it is not 1965 as they were launched in Autumn 1966!!

Hi, iv just watched it again, several times & yes it looks very much like a "Tony Bell" ice-cream van waiting to pull out on the left, not long after Newport school, 👍 (My all time fav ice-crean) iv not noticed that before so thank you 👍
