What will it take for humanity to become a space-faring civilization?
Join Richard Campbell as he talks about the near-term technologies that are moving this idea closer to reality. The first problem is getting up there - and improvements in rocket design have substantially lowered the cost of access to space. Then the question - what do we do up there? And how do we stay? And is that even possible in the long term? Why bother being a space-faring civilization?

"Rapid unscheduled disassembly" - just a part of space flight.

I feel like I have been born 50-70 years too early to be a space tourist. I'm in my mid thirties, and it looks like it will take another 50-60 years before space is equivalent to a commercial flight across the Atlantic. I want to sleep in a hotel on the moon. I don't have the youth or skills to be a pioneer, so I want the mass tourism experience, like the Arctic cruises that has the safe version of what people died doing 150 years ago 😂
Yes, in my daydreaming I'm the pioneer who brave the last frontier and does something cool, but reality is that the closest to space exploration I will ever be is maybe writing code that is used for asteroid accounting 😂
