This is so cool, is there a certain camera type and software you use? Or is there a software that’s better than some for someone who just does this stuff as a hobby?
Personally I use Blackmagic cameras but that's just my preference. Nowadays you can shoot pretty high quality video on your phone.

But how could I make the camera be my pov, as if the camera is me looking into the mirror without showing the camera in the mirror? I'm sure similar steps might be followed but if the camera taking my pov, will the moving around cause issues for editing??? Hopefully my question makes sense for what I'm trying to ask

When i connect then it doesnt black out the other side.?
Make sure there's nothing underneath the layer where apply the mask. If you're using a crop effect, make sure you increase any of the crop values to 100%.
Once I draw my mask everything outside it just goes black and doesn’t merge them together, what have I done wrong?
