South Africans went out to 'toi-toi' knowing they may not come back alive. Even now as South Africans we are not confident that it is safe to go out to protest but we have the attitude that though they may slay us they cannot finish us all. We are not afraid to die for our children. This battle is not for the weak

During apartheid we were not allowed to protest but that wss the heat of our struggle. That didn't stop us from protesting. People were prepared to die, in 1976 high school students faced the army with stones and dustbin lids. So many people died for us to have the right to protest freely

Sister, that enabling environment to protest was not just handed to us because our government is kind. No, peoples lives ended for us to have the right to vote and protest. My dear, do you know how many people were unalived by the boers during our protests?
Have you heard about the mass unaliving that happened in July 2021 in Durban. The unaliving was not about looting - no one was unalived by the police.
They were unalived in residential areas in Phoenix, just driving theough to work and some lived there. Some were refused entry into wyte areas they lived in. None of those people have been arrested.
If more people sacrifice, the government will soon have to listen. How many were unalived in Kenya?
We stand in solidarity with the brother and applaud him for being the one. He must multiply, more Nigerians must go to jail till the government has no more space to put them in, and maybe finally they will catch a wake up and do the right thing.

Hi Olivia. The person who was in custody for 11 weeks should sue for unlawful arrest and detention. Why do Nigerians fear being killed in their own land yet when they are outside they fight with police officers of other countries? Seems the Nigerian government and police understand the behaviour of their population and put appropriate measures in place which other countries should also do. I expect anyone who was in jail to look malnourished and have lost weight because I don’t think they should be fed when there are people outside who looks worse than them

As an elderly woman, I know what a prison cell looks like, I also know how it feels like to be in solitary confinement. There are many of us who are not even mentioned when mentioned or remembered, but we are greatful that our children and grand children and the generations to come, protest without being tortured or arrested. @@ayogeorgehome7838 South Africa’s “fees must fall” leader Mcebo Dlamini and others are still being dragged in and out of court in relation to their role on protests organised by students to oppose the increase in university fees back in 2025 - 2017 close to a decade ago. They still remain in custody and face criminal charges of public violence, theft, malicious damage to property and assault - you name it. University students who by now could possibly be holding PhDs and contributing to the growth of South Africa's economy are spending their most productive years in police cells whilst criminals are roaming the streets.

Running around the world, hoping things will be better oneday at home, it's like listening to a song for 100 times, hoping the lyrics will change oneday, very impossible. Until Nigerians face the fact that, things requires an action if you want change. Not blaiming other countries, insulting them, taljs things just to make feel, that will not make a difference back at home.

My beloved sister. Its true in SA we have rights, but those rights came at a painful heavy price. South Africans have always fought until their last breath, even during colonialism they fought, during apartheid they fought. Most of you know about 16 June 1976, my sister in 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, until today SAns are still fighting. Most of your people belittle our struggle and reduce it, by saying all the negative things that they know nothing of. Im not saying we are perfect and yes theres a lot that still needs to be done. But our fight was not in vain, the fight for our rights truly paid off, and we will not allow no one to take it away from us. Our leaders know we are fighters and we always hold them accountable. All i can say what you see now, it is through the sacrifice that we did. Lives were lost, families were destroyed, communities were destroyed but, we soldiered on. Our leaders know well what would befall them should they curtail our right to protest. Sweat and blood was paid to earn the right to express displeasure with governance and our leaders would not even dare touch that. If you notice, our people have been indicating for many years that they are tired of illegal immigrants and the legal ones who are harbouring the illegal ones, but the government did nothing. Elections came and went, and the people showed the ruling party, who is the real boss in a democratic state. Right now, the DA is using the little window they have in government to win the hearts of the people by decisively dealing with the issue of immigration, not that the people will be swayed, but we are grateful, nonetheless.
