Tull was awesome live,Ian Anderson is a show master never a dull moment
This song is part of a trilogy, “My God” “Hymn 43” and “wind up”
Jethro Tull is a very deep musical rabbit hole to dive into. Their music catalogue is intellectually vast. You will want to explore both their studio work, and their live footage.
Ian Anderson is arguably the greatest live performer in the history of rock. Anderson is a self-taught multi-instrumental genius who takes his concert performances very seriously. He treats his live shows like a business man whose job is to entertain. He brings wit, intelligence, athleticism, theatrics, humor, social commentary, and a bit of tongue-in-cheek spice to his concerts.
Greetings from England, Jethro tull . All time legendary band. Have a listen to thick as a brick , aqualung and living in the past
This album was burned in the streets of the "bible belt" when released as they thought it was anti-religion/God; but if you read/listen closely it is only against the commercialism and misuse of religion for personal gain.
love this tune
If you want some good guitar work, listen to Tull's "Minstrel in the Gallery" (Studio). It's quite "metal-ish". 😂
This was the soundtrack to my last 2 years at school...
Ohhh, I have soo much to say. The song is what you said. The song My God from the same album. It slams the hypocrisy of religion ‘The bloody Church of England in chains of history…’ More people have died in the name of religion than any other cause. Gus Grisom from CSI, said ‘I believe in God but not in religion’. I completely agree. I was brought up in the Congregational UCC which is very liberal. The …short version is we believe in Peace 30:14 , love, tolerance & understanding. Basically be a good human being. I’ve said many times Jesus’ message was play nice with everyone.
As you like iron maiden you might like to hear a cover they did of this album called "cross eyed Mary"
FROM THE CLASSIC ( 71 ) AQUALUNGGGG VIN AND SORI 👍YOU NEED TO WATCH IAN AND HIS BAND DO ( MY GOD ) 70 LIVE AT THE ISLE OF WIGHT😊HIS FLUTE PLAY WILL BLOW YOUR MIND WHEN YOU SEE IT, I JUST LOVE IT WHEN VIN ENJOYS ACTUALLLLY WHAT GREAT MUSIC REALLY WAS!! 💯😊 YOU TAKE GREAT CARE GUYS!
Thanks! Have you done "My God" yet? Studio version!!!
They have.
Jethro Tull is a great band masterminded by Ian Anderson.
Dig the band's history.
This is from 1971.
Peace on earth.
1971 not 1970 so they must have known that this song's guitar hook is...erm...paddling in the wake of Moby Dick
As to killing people in war I know many conflicted, damaged individuals that served. What they did haunts them. I was just following orders is valid for a bunch of kids especially if they were drafted.
In 1989, Jethro Tull beat out Metallica for best rock/metal performance to win the Grammy
yes and everyone at that event was shocked that a "folksy... flute-playing... whimsical band" who sing songs about "elves, fairies and woodland folk" should win the new hard rock category. Those people had obviously never listened to the majority of the Tull catalogue and based their entire view on a couple of albums. Tull Rock.
Winde-UP is another song about religion from the Aqualung Album
Roots is pure fiction. Inflammatory bs
I love classic Jethro Tull and this is my favorite track!🔥🤘🏻
Unique and creative…a major influential band, with some great musicians like Tony Iommi!
Iommi lasted 2 weeks in Tull. Great guitarist but not versatile enough for Ian Anderson's vision of where he wanted to take the band. He found the perfect player in Martin Barre.
@@davidcranch7890 Thought it was a year?…Tony wasn’t a match for Tull..he wasn’t versatile enough!
