Honestly, this song really speaks to me (and not because I enjoy fighting people to the death). It really reminds me of when I first made tools out of metal which felt both primitive and phenomenal at the same time. The song has the same feel to it were it has a dark almost ancient feel to it.
So it make it short and sweet, this song reminds me when I was in the transitional phase of being both darkly primitive and on the horizon of innovation.
This is what the Vikings listened to before every battle, that's how they were able to take over large parts of the British Isles, northern France, and Russia. They also listened to this before going on voyages, which is how they reached Iceland, Greenland and even Newfoundland.
This is what the Goths listened to before every battle, that's how they were able to bring down the Western Roman Empire and create the Visigothic and Ostrogothic kingdoms.
It is hard to express what I feel like when listening to this. I feel like I'm put into a trance of some sort; a type of primitive anger. Really makes me want to fight a bear with a round shield and axe, if I'm being honest.
Holmgang, or Holmgång in my language can be translated as "Walking the gauntlet", and mostly refers to a form of punishment where the punished has to run through a gauntlet of people in two rows (to my understanding), while being either beaten or having things thrown at you.
HorrorshowEU its a duel to settle disputes, usually to the death. Id imagine people would be kinder to one another if they knew at any moment they could be challenged to holmgang.
@@austinwheeler3679-Yeah,for sure.If we had an honour system whereby insulting behaviour was either settled by a retraction & apology or a duel then people would definitely be more careful about their manners. It worked for centuries. In the grand scheme of things it hasn't been that long since duelling was outlawed.Of course, another effect of that system was that all males practiced martial readiness.Everyone had to be ready to fight.I don't want to get too political on a musical channel but Europeans would be responding to certain situations differently if we were all raised to be ready for combat. We don't have to be bullies. We can treat people honourably but we could also make damned sure that our hospitality is respected.
In denmark it was a challenge from one man to another and they would have to fight within a 5m x 5m "ring" much like in boxing but much more lethal and the ring was called Holmen and when engageing in holmgang the challenged and Challenger would have to walk the holm therefor holmgang and usually it would end with one dead or badly wounded and in iceland it was more a wrestling match then a fight and in any case if one were to decline the challenge one would be striped of honour and made lawless so All abled person were in theyre right to kill the Dishonored if they felt the need and/ or want to do so
@@kulukristiansen1310-Thank you for taking the time to explain that. That's fascinating & an interesting tradition for dispute settlement. It's all legality & suing each other these days,eh? Ironically the only people to settle their disputes by 1 on 1 combat within a set of rules in modern day Britain are Irish Travellers with their bare-knuckle rules fighting. It seems a fair & honourable system to be honest. It works for them anyway & has done for centuries. We could learn a thing or two from that aspect of their culture.I mean,I'm not the world's best fighter by a long shot(probably not the best fighter on my street) but an honourable method of solving things would make society a more respectful environment. If loudmouths had to back their words up & couldn't come at you mob-handed & had to face their opponent alone I'm sure many would think twice before displaying dishonour or disrespect. That was fascinating hearing about how Danes used to deal with these situations. Thanks again.Gôd hælo eaxlgestealla 🔥👁️🔥
