Afterglow dragon really ties the whole deck together to otk and setup rank 8 negates. Love the deck
If it could just have easier way to special summon like alternative or nebula dragon to reveal galaxy eyes and it wouldnt be a meme deck.

It does give the deck big otk value, but sadly doesn't really solve any of its consistency problems, kind of worsens that actually. I love galaxy photon, but being able to have 5 unique archetypal cards in hand and be totally bricked is quite the achievement.

I immediately made Photons in Master Duel the moment I saw Union Carrier wasn't banned. Surprise Otking with Prime Photon is how I made my way to Plat in this game.

I love this deck. It's so fun to make a 16,000 ATK Prime Photon Dragon and smack the opponent into next week.
The best part? If the opponent lets you run rampant, that attack gain is permanent, and you get to summon a Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon to the field to make more rank 8 plays.
So if the opponent manages to actually survive the turn, they have to out an indestructible Photon Lord, at least one other disruption, and a monster who has a minimum of 12,600 atk. Oftentimes, you're at low LP while needing to do all this, because at least _something_ has punched in really really hard because the Galaxy/Photon player is probably playing board-breakers, or at least Kaijus(minimum damage against any of the light Kaijus are 7900).
I almost feel accomplished in life having beat it and made an opponent surrender.
Or try to get out as many xyz as possible and slap him with somewhere between 20k and 30k using numeron dragon (summoned with draglubion of course).
@@nikraa77 actually that has been my overall goal ever since afterglow dragon was released back in January 2021. Try to get matched up against a deck that also utilizes lots of xyz, both in master duel and IRL because I have the deck and see just how high the atk of prime photon can get; hopefully without interference from hand traps or counters.
@@nikraa77 I don't like Numeron Dragon, because it limits your potential end-board on the off-chance the opponent survives the attack, and the attack gain is temporary. On top of that, Numeron can't float like Prime can(it comes up every now and then).
And, of course, Prime and Afterglow activates in the damage step, the opponent can't react without activation negation.

I think Photons could actually be really good in Master Duel because of the best of 1 format and the fact it doesn't really care about Maxx C when it can just punch you in the face for 10k damage. As long as they dont draw Nib or something off the Maxx you win anyway

@@ddave3388 there's a 4th place timelord 70+players in ocg that utilize macro cosmos and fissure.
Or if you want to be evil, play metaion windwitch burn that won 163 players in adachi cs with 2-0 in the final against eldrich. It is a great deck in a format where herald and eldrich is running rampant. Normal summon 4k indestructible metaion kaijus and stuff.

Love this deck. Experimented with it for years trying to optimise the build and I think it's an incredibly scary sleeper deck because it's basically unstoppable unless you know what part of its combos to disrupt which can be really difficult thanks to its free form combo potential, massive number of extenders and a huge toolbox of spells and rank 8s that it can spam really hard. General rule of thumb is to hit the normal summon but not every combo even uses the normal summon so there's no real garuntee
Yea with a decent hand galaxy eyes can do a lot of stuff, bad part being once you exhaust your own hand if you can t otk or establish a board that your oppenent can't break your only chance of recovery is a lucky draw or photon lord which dosen't always save you because opponent will probably negate that card if he survives your turn , still tho really fun rogue deck can even beat bigger meta decks very easily if they do a wrong move , which they do most of the time because most people dosen't know how galaxy eyes works
@@mr.serperior7002 the deck's biggest strength is definitely the fact that it's niche. I was regularly going X-1 at my locals until everyone learned how to play against the deck and then my knight started getting negated left right and center and at that point the deck kind of just became bad
I think an underrated part of the deck is it's ability to play under maxx c. It's combos are low on actions so you can set up like a photon lord without giving your opponent too many cards
@@whyamihere3153 not really a strength. You usually either give your opponent nothing off maxx "C" or take the full maxx "C" challenge and just go ham. Unless you're only letting your opponent go +1 at most you're at a huge disadvantage regardless of whether they get their entire deck or not
@@whyamihere3153 that really depends on an ideal hand of soldier, knight and GEPD which would still be 3 specials. Otherwise you are probably gonna hit 5+ easily

I’ve been religiously playing this deck since Afterglow released in the TCG and the deck has some serious potential. Some of their archetypal cards are ABSURD. Tachyon Transmigration is Infinite Impermanence + Vanity’s Call, Galaxy Trance is Reborn + E-Tele, half their cards are searchers (Soldier, Orbital, Wizard, Vanisher, etc.), Photon Sanctuary just summons 2 tokens for free (non-opt and all it does is light-lock you), all on top of the fact that they can OTK through disruptions.
Obviously the deck is super powerful going 2nd, but it’s pretty good going 1st, too. You can easily end on 2-4 interruptions, the best of boards usually having Infinity + Solflare + Transmigration + no. 90. Even the worst of hands can usually end on a live Solflare + a R8nk or a trap. Only problems are that the deck can be inconsistent (naturally bricks due to being a lv8 deck and, while having a plethora of extenders, has a dearth of starters) and that the ceiling isn’t, like, ABSURDLY high.

STRATEGY:
Going First - you try and end on at least two of these: No. 38, No. 90, Infinity, Solflare, or Transmigration. Optionally, you can use Photon Blast Dragon & Cipher X in order to give your monsters some protection.
One of my favorite interactions is Starliege Photon Blast Dragon equipped with Photon Orbital, making it very difficult to get rid of as it gains its own protection due to now being over 2000 ATK and it also gains the bonuses of Orbital (so now it can’t be destroyed by battle or card effects AND it can’t be targeted by card effects). All this while also providing that same protection to your whole field and possibly extending your plays as well.
Going Second - As you would expect, you OTK your opponent with the Afterglow + No. 62 combo. If they stop your attack or interrupt your plays, use Cipher Blade/Full Armor/Zeus to help pick apart their board.

Any tips on beating photon? Like does this deck have very crucial choke point? Somehow i cant decide when to drop handtrap vs this deck, sometimes i can win but its because i think the player doesnt really know how to play the deck, but when i play againts a good player they can keep doing their combo and can make a solid end board.
The beat meta Tcg player Vs THE CHAD ANIME LOVER
There was this guy on YGo/Edopro, a regular since like 2017 named Mantyz, running tag duels. He was exclusively playing Galaxy (not pure, but with good tech cards and engines). The deck could play through so many things and pop off so hard, when I came in contact with the "Galaxy bad kekw" memes I was genuinely thinking people were joking.
Deck has soul charge, hero lives, mini scapegoat, a million of monster reborns and stratos, negation, protection, hard hitting juggernauts. A shame its reputation is so terrible.
Other than its status as “not meta”, it also has the anime deck stigma, which a lot of players think are really bad for some reason (but have a hard-on almost constantly for Puke-Eyes Blight Dragon)
My very first Regional back in May 2013, I went 4-4 with Photon/Galaxy and placed 33rd, with a hilarious tech of Kuriphoton
Photon doesn't do enough to justify it combos, i mean drytron can put more negation than spyral and photon.
This is a terrible comparison.
Drytron abused the non OPT of Benten and Ultimateness. In fact, most deck nowadays abuse something other cannot, and that's the difference between a meta combo deck and a non meta. The simple fact that Drytron break the ritual mechanic by considering Atk rather than level while having insane consistancy is downright ridiculous.
Spyral was no different. Even Sword Soul is fair compared to them.
Can't wait for them to get shredded in MD banlist. How could you be so crazy as to let 3 EBE and 3 Benten in the same format?
The only "unfair" card if Galaxy is Tachyon Transmigration which cannot be searched by anything and triggers only with one specific xyz on field.

@@KeertikaAndFallenTree part of the reason why pre brave token spyral and others doesn't have good representation in the ocg because they only put 1 omni negate most of the time, and deck like dragonmaid would slaughtered them since that kind of deck can afford to play board breaker like evenly duster and stuff without having to brick.

@@f1r3hunt3rz5 photon and galaxy are the same thing. You can't really run a galaxy deck without photon support or you'll be playing 2017 galaxy eye and photons are just duel links galaxy eyes. The decks don't stand a chance by themselves kinda like cipher.
Unfortunately Ciphers need more support because all of their Spells and Traps support the little Extra Deck they have.
