  • At CES 2024, Kia made a significant announcement about its innovative 'Platform Beyond Vehicle' (PBV) strategy. This new approach is a major step forward in Kia's vision for the future of mobility, focusing on flexibility, modularity, and catering to a wide range of customer needs.
    1. Introduction of PBV Strategy: Kia unveiled its 'Platform Beyond Vehicle' concept, redefining traditional notions of automotive design. This platform aims to provide versatile, fit-for-purpose EVs with advanced software solutions, aligning with Hyundai Motor Group's software-to-everything (SDx) strategy.
    2. Modular Vehicle Design: The core of the PBV strategy is its radical modularity, allowing users to customize their vehicles for a variety of purposes. The design features a fixed cab with interchangeable 'life modules' for different functions, such as a taxi, delivery van, or recreational vehicle.
    3. Concept Models and Technologies: Kia showcased several concept models, including the Concept EV3, Concept EV4, the EV9, and the EV6 GT. These concepts illustrate the broad range of applications of the PBV platform, from personal mobility to commercial use.
    4. Three-Phase Roadmap: Kia's PBV development is planned in three phases. The first phase introduces the PV5 EV, optimized for domains like ride-hailing and delivery. The second phase will see the completion of a dedicated PBV model lineup, evolving into AI-based mobility platforms. The third phase aims at developing highly customizable, bespoke mobility solutions integrating with the future mobility ecosystem.
    5. Versatile Use Cases: The PBVs are designed for a variety of uses, including as mobile shops, transportation for disabled individuals, and as comfortable people-movers. The interior design emphasizes a 'living room' feel, with large wraparound screens and a removable tablet for infotainment.
    6. Future Plans: Kia has ambitious plans for its PBV line, including a dedicated assembly plant expected to be operational by 2025. The factory, located in Autoland Hwaseong, aims to produce up to 150,000 vehicles per year.
    7. EV Life for Everyone: Kia's vision of 'EVs for All' was highlighted, showcasing the lifestyle benefits of their expanding EV lineup. This aligns with their goal of making electric mobility accessible and beneficial for a broad range of consumers.
Kia's announcement at CES 2024 marks a significant leap in the evolution of mobility solutions. By focusing on modular, adaptable vehicles that can serve multiple purposes, Kia is not just addressing current market demands but also paving the way for future innovations in the automotive industry. This strategy has the potential to transform how we think about vehicle ownership and use, offering tailored solutions for individuals, businesses, and communities.
In summary, Kia's presentation at CES 2024 showcased a forward-thinking approach to automotive design and utility, emphasizing flexibility, customer-centric solutions, and a commitment to sustainable mobility.

As I said in a different video; Clearly KIA saw what Electric Brand has been doing with the X-Bus.

The head of design at Kia( the guy talking) presented us a video that was very froufrou , his words address the great abstractness of his design mindset but did not tell us much about the truck is really like. so it will still be Honda/Toyota for me. Cage safety, reliability and i would have loved a smart car design. The Kia guy could not articulate a clear Kia Kamper vision. he was just about how great the team at Kia is brilliant.🤔🥴🤨😜
