@@handle2974 Technically I am not a player, but I do collect the books for the cool lore, and I have played Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 (as well as IWD1), and I have completed Watcher's Keep at least twice, and guess who the end-boss is? His sprite is of comparable size to the sprites of dragons.

Tropes, if written well, can't be over used, tropes are literally an essential part of writing and it's likely impossible to avoid using them. Clichés on the other hand are fairly avoidable, and is usually what people mean when they say "x trope is overused" By their very definition clichés are things in writing that are overused.
As an example... the anime protagonists that feel like they are copy pasted versions of each other can be considered a cliché whereas the fact that the protagonist's inner circle is a five man band is a trope.
Basically a cliché is a phrase or other things in writing that pretty much get copy pasted across multiple stories, where tropes are archetypes that the way a story has been written can fall into. Tropes, if written well, almost always improve your story; whereas clichés almost always detriment your story.
the thing with clichés is that they’re not used stuff that’s been done again and again and again, they’re tropes thay have been done BADLY again and again and agAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN until they’re just shit. but someone can also take a cliché and do it WELL again and it’s good again - if you keep doing it well and differently it’s still a trope. if enough people fuck it up enough, as long as it’s still bad it’s a cliché, but someone can always come across a cliché where they like the trope it used to be and do it right again

Yeah, avoiding using tropes in a story is impossible, one time I was thinking about trying to make a story that avoided using any tropes, but that was shot down as I saw how many tropes there were. Like, every single type of story can be considered a trope, every type of ending can be considered a trope, many more things that you wouldn't even think about are tropes. It's simply impossible.
20:23 is incredible when paired with "I'd kill for you" coming from a character who would do anything before violence/a complete soft pacifist! Like the person prone to violence is trying to become better by choosing not to be violent but their opponents are intending to kill or seriously harm them for "showing weakness" and soft serve lover becomes murder hungry on the spot and will make them *pay*
