Amazing work dude. I wish i had a friend with that kinda machines. Glad you mention that this is NOT just a ebay/internet looking and buying parts build. This is real enginering at it`s finest. Cars are not realy my thing(only on youtube) i love bikes, custom supermoto bikes.Especially two-strokes, therefore i came to your rotary build.. . And i have done my bit of enginering and fabricating, so i can really appreciate all the hard work(brain work) that you are doing to make this build happening. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Norway.
The LS gods are fighting the Rotary gods over the matter of rob dahm's project ,but don't worry the sheer amount of people who want this completed will get you through.
Normal car modifiers: let's take a big engine, and swap it into a small car. This: let's take a small engine out of a small car, and put it into a bigger car...
You have no idea how much I, and a lot of others out here, envy you for your ability to do what you are doing and the freedom to be able to afford to get what you need to get done, done. I appreciate the fact that you are not just a lucky man to do what you do, but you've earned it by being in the middle of your own learning curve while doing it. More power to you from Northern California. Looking forward to the end results and a kick-ass ride like no other out here. Thumbs up, and get down brother! 👍👍👀😳😉😎🖖
GM already tried rotary in a Corvette, it was called AeroVette concept. This doesn’t feel wrong, just taking a few steps in the wrong direction; which Rob sometimes does cuz we love him!
see, now this is entertaining. not only do we get to see the making of something that wasnt supposed to happen, but we also get an ominous look at the beginning of something great, its like the fast and the furious at jurassic park(the t-rex intro scene). this is gonna be the best corvette ever.
That thunder background sound, when the Corvette torque tube get completely adapted to be mounted with a T2 rotary bell-housing ! OMG !! FIRST PROPHECY IS DONE !!!
Keep it up!!Great work and at the right track!I've been thinking about a project like that since i was a teen, never got to do it (life thought otherwise) but still so happy for you being able to this!!Nice work on the adapter plate!
Bahahaaa!! Ending was great! I totally get why you put it in. The car gods are looking down and what you were hearing was the car gods jaws hitting the earth!!! Lmfao! You're doing great one of a kind things with cars dude. Don't stop thinking outside the box. You should say screw it and design a 5 rotor no turbos first. See what numbers it pulls out. Maybe too much but I'd try if I had a machine shop and money lol
How to solve the overlapping hole issue: Drill the hole in the adapter for the torque tube bolt first. Then, instead of a bolt, use an oversized stud. Locktite the ever living shit out of it. Drill out the torque tube hole bigger so the oversized stud fits. Then, drill and thread the rx7 bellhousing bolt hole. You'll be drilling partially into and tapping the back of the stud, so it will no longer be removable. But once youve got the bellhousing bolted in and torqued down, itll be as strong as if it was a solid piece. Especially if you use an oversized stud. The biggest downside is that you might have to use billet steel instead of aluminum for the adapter, which will double its weight and then some. But an extra ten or fifteen pounds in a car with a full interior is negligible. The engineering in these projects is my favorite part!! I love this build to death. Im really excited to see how it pans out!!
Lol some Blair Witch at the end!! What you are doing is such a dream, now I need to make millions to set something like that up. Keep up the great work!!! I need to start rebuilding my Rx-8 seriously. Thanks for the motivation and I'm excited to see what you come up with next.
So cool! Looking forward to the finished project. Some would say, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." I say Screw the Naysayers and press on! I love technology. Something as crazy and off the wall as this would not be possible without some high tech gear. Go for it!
i was talking to dad about rotaries and he mentioned there was once a corvette with a 4 rotor. he couldn't remember much other than it was a thing at one point in time so i did some digging and found the Chevrolet Aerovette. it was a concept corvette that at one point in development had a 4 rotor
Haha I gave a lot of hate when I first heard ls to rotary but gotta say I’ve been loving seeing this thing come to life good stuff bro keep them vids coming
When the thunder happened I imagined the Frankenstein monster coming to life, just like how Rob is making a Frankenstein of a car right now, one that was never supposed to exist. I love it lmao
You should make sure that you remove the clutch start switch I've learned from experience and also other people destroying crankshafts by having a heavy pedal and holding the clutch pedal down in order to have to start the car can put alot of unwanted pressured on the crank while starting the engine !!! Good luck on the rest of the build !!!
This is why I love your shit. Not only do most RUclipsrs have magazine built cars (shit off a shelf) but most have shops built there cars with all off the shelf shit
There are many distinct advantages to living in Southern California when building such projects...like having access to companies like Built 2 Apex! Trust me, there is nothing like that in the entire state of KY.
ROB THAT CAR IS SO GOING TO HANDLE -----BALANCE------ Rob people underestimate rotary engines they make alot of power if done right i used to ad pre mix 2 stroke oil to my tank to help it last longer as you know the oiler is not very good on these
Every day be like: NEW VIDEO? No?... 😭 And now its FINALLY there. I know, you probably can't buil it any faster. Its still frustrating. Love your vids, keep it up!!!
Yes, make sure you strengthen that 450lb/ft. rated transmission so it won't break under the load of sitting in your garage behind an inoperable rotary engine.
This is a interesting project it will be nice to see it finished and put through the paces as a complete vehicle. I would like to see it hit the scales with another c5 to compare real world weight difference and if it is lighter how does it effect the handling
sfi foundation rating would be what that scattershield is rated for, Rob. To be doing what you are doing here and blowing off the sfi rating as 'some rating' is kinda scary but I am still watching because I cant wait to see the hole you cut in the floor and where you move the gas pedal to so you can fit that clutch fork in the position you have it clocked in.
First thing I thought when you had bolts overlapping was to convert them to additional dowels so at least you have extra rotational strength. Probably don't need it though.
@rob dahm you might as well try making one of the first AWD vettes since you're going as far as putting a rotary motor into that vette i think it would be sick to see that!
Having less than 8 bolts connecting the bell to the tq tube will be fine. The tq from the engine has little effect on that connection. The bolts connecting them has to handle the twist & movement of the engine, not the actual power output. If it was effected by engine pwr, the cast aluminum bell & tube would fail long before those bolts. You could probably have to bolts on each side towards the outter edges & be fine. It most likely has 8 because it has to support the tq tube weight with engine on the end.
Loving every bit of this, inluding the ending. Very Ketzal Sterling thing to do, and it's great! Screw the gods, you'll be able to outrun them once the car is done :)
Great job with the engineering . Don't worry about the purists out there. As for us real car guys are concerned, you're doing great. This is exactly what the Corvette needed, a high horsepower screamer of an engine.
Rob's project car game is definitely on another level
Yea, most people just bolt on headers and a tune to get there Corvette in the 12s.
both in content and in money lolol
And he's having fun while doing it... we should all be so lucky!
Mean while Project Binky says "Hold my beer" :P
OMFG that ending.
Awesome to see the progress mate. Lol
This is the greatest thing you’ve ever done
Amazing work dude. I wish i had a friend with that kinda machines.

I'll put up a tent for everyone
@Andy Boyd or maybe gm's own rotary demigods came to save the day
@Oceanic Dangernoodle what made you so salty in life I wonder
Oceanic Dangernoodle who pissed in your frosted flakes this morning? people love cars for what they are asshole😂
Danger doodle has never heard of a salty sea dog...
You’ll forget how wrong it feels when you gap an LS swaped rx7 😄
Hey Build Break Repeat
Turbo your Sachs rotary
Normal car modifiers: let's take a big engine, and swap it into a small car. This: let's take a small engine out of a small car, and put it into a bigger car...
Not going to happen... this thing is going to run like shit
Ahhh the requisite negative shithead with associated profanity, I cannot wait for the final swapped vehicle to potentially dominate.
You have to be joking... this is going to be a 12 second car. It is going to be slow. I dont think that is the point
“We’re not measuring this with any sophisticated equipment” uses a halo gun
Raymoundo Espinoza 😂😂😂😂
I was expecting a non metric tape.
Damn! You're alive! Thought you were dead for a little while here. Good to see some progress on this project! 👌😎
I mean, he dead now.
He'll be dead at ls-fest
HondaFknCivic when is LS fest
@@theironmanderin9308 when it's ls fest
Being a machinist myself i can appreciate everything that you have goin on here, i love it👍
The fact that you engineer solutions is what makes me enjoy watching your channel
The amount of engineering and brain power that goes into your projects is simply amazing. Absolutely love seeing how you get it all done!
Most people would swap an ls into an rx7.
Rob's logic: let's put the rotary in the vette, that should work right?
Gotta love it lol
I too throw my cum at homeless junkies and yell MAX SPEED!
if you don´t call this car "Rotorvette", i'll be extemely dissapointed
Subaru_Sama or the Cortary heart disease
Corotor sounds nice as well. Nice play on “o’s”.
How about we call it a CRX? No, wait...
Vette-x7
Core x7
@Oceanic Dangernoodle I mean yeah?
As a fellow machinist, respeck on the work
The ending of this video was everything I could ever ask for. I can’t wait to see this done.
Now you can start selling a kit for putting a Rotary engine into different cars. With the adapter plate being the first piece.
So we can make MORE cars unreliable ? Rotarys suck. Have fun mixing gas and constantly replacing melted bumpers

It would be awesome to have Matt Farrah do a full review when this proof of concept project is done & sorted !

your upload schedule is as consistent as Dom Mazetti's
Love the Dom reference. Dom is too big for consistency
Hell yes. I’m happy that a rotary is going into a vette. It is nice to see this coming together.
GM already tried rotary in a Corvette, it was called AeroVette concept. This doesn’t feel wrong, just taking a few steps in the wrong direction; which Rob sometimes does cuz we love him!
Hahaha the thunder and lightning crack right as he mated everything up is hilariouuuuussss!!
I can't wait to see this car all together. That adapter is a piece of ART!!! Keep up the Great work
I was wondering what happened to this build, glad that it's still going strong because this is a lot of fun to watch!

Innovation at its finest. Robs prolly starting a trend. I mean Vette carts started like this. Keep it up!
I'm very excited to see a 13b Corvette!
That 3D Scanner tho. CNC machinist for thirty years and first time I seen one in action, great video
That thunder background sound, when the Corvette torque tube get completely adapted to be mounted with a T2 rotary bell-housing ! OMG !! FIRST PROPHECY IS DONE !!!
You've challenged the LS gods... and they're angry
This channel deserves 2mil subscribers! Can’t wait to have my brain confused with rotary noises coming out of a corvette!

It will "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee"
Wow that laser scanner is an impressive piece of kit!! Super cool watching you engineer a solution

Not just another nut and bolt "custom" car...truely built not bought , love the engineering 👍👍 keep up the good work
I don't think I've been more excited for a project car from anyone anywhere ever at anytime
It's true, engineering can get pretty sophisticated. The intricate details, specifications, and conditions, etc add variables to your circumstances.
i love the new style. Seeing this grow since 2013
You should make sure that you remove the clutch start switch I've learned from experience and also other people destroying crankshafts by having a heavy pedal and holding the clutch pedal down in order to have to start the car can put alot of unwanted pressured on the crank while starting the engine !!! Are there advantages to a pull style clutch? Or did Mazda just want to give people another reason not to daily an rx7
Oh man, adding that faro scan arm to my wish list, would love one in our shop!!

The thunder sound effect at 14:00 is from Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. 🤣
It feels so right.
the ending deserves an oscar
When I first heard that thunder, I thought the exact same thing then you joked about it. That ending had me dying 😂
That's ending was flawless.
love that you improvised on the weather so quickly haha to funny!
It's so easy that's not even funny.
Dang,it's also really so cool to be able to do that.
"I've angered the gods!" Storm and earthquake! Sooo funny! Thanks!
I love how rob will make shit happen
Even if it takes him to manufacture custom pieces
You're looking at it all wrong. If the parts are custom you *pick* the stage.
My vote goes to stage 69

loved the ending. cant wait to see this beast to lay some rubber.
Rob just changed the game for rotary heads, you can now use torque tube transmissions in all your rotary powered cars.
Rob the kind of guy that’ll make his own Car make and model we represent to you the brand new 2019 Rotavette 4 comes in 2 variations😂
im so happy your swapping a rotary into a vette makes me happy lol
Yes, make sure you strengthen that 450lb/ft. rated transmission so it won't break under the load of sitting in your garage behind an inoperable rotary engine.
That Afflux V5 kitted FD that was sitting at B2A was something else. That's the one with a 4 rotor, right?
Tunerguy21 yes! The owners are very awesome people
When he held up the adaptor plate up in the air saying it was the first. All I had going though my head was the circle of life song. Lmao.
This is a interesting project it will be nice to see it finished and put through the paces as a complete vehicle. I would like to see it hit the scales with another c5 to compare real world weight difference and if it is lighter how does it effect the handling
This is great bro, saving the video for later. Had to comment lol, so pumped to see this build.

That CNC machine takes me back. Nice.
What you guys do to those cars is unfathomable okay there's no way I could do that stuff
I don’t kno why, I’m sooo fucking 😱happy that your doing this, dude you show everyone what rotory can do... respect ✊ bro... respect ✊

Hello from Michigan id like to see the rotorvette finished it looks like a fun toy that shouldn't belong together
