Texas is a very weird and wonderful place. It sort of still retains that frontier feeling. People here are very patriotic Americans but also Texan to the bone. I was born and raised in Texas still live here. Going through the school system is interesting, you get to learn Texas history as well as US history. It's also pretty diverse you get lots of fusion here from different cultures. Hispanic culture is huge in the state as it was once part of Spain then Mexico. The hispanics that are born and raised here have their own culture,Tejano. A mix of American, Texan and Mexican. It also refers to a style of music. A movie recently made that uses Tx almost as a character all its own is Hell or High Water. Watch it. A great scene of the movie. ruclips.net/video/gdYXQ-IPZcc/видео.html
If independent, CA, TX, NY and FL would each be G20 countries.
The US Dept. of Defense would make it to the G20, too.
Only 13% of Texans supported secession in 2012, but it's probably a little higher right now due to the US Supreme Court refusing to hear Texas' case against other states regarding election concerns. Still nowhere near what would be necessary to actually try it though.
Texans really love them some Texas. But they also like America. Some Texans talk about being independent, but it's not really that serious.

Did you know you can buy fireworks on March 2 now in our state!
As a person who lives in Mississippi when I was young I visited my grandparents who lived in Texas every summer. It really is completely different and almost like a different country.
After the Civil War, the US had a number of laws and policies that negatively hit the southern states, and Texas government and politics is still heavily influenced from those after effects. The reason for the Texas electrical grid is so they could retain control and not have to adhere to federal laws and standards since it never crossed state lines (it does now, but that's why). For decades, even operating a bank branch in Texas was only allowed if the main central bank was in Texas, meaning no outside banks from other states were allowed until a state constitutional amendment allowed it in 1994.

@Channon Legier Now I'm depressed too much to think about...lol
@Channon Legier Texas is more powerful than you think, lets say we went to war with the US.. We would either lose or drag the war on to a draw, we have the largest military bases in the US and we have the largest air national guard forces out of all the others, and i believe we still have the only national guard special forces as well, add to the fact that Texans love Texas so much that millions will volunteer to fight for our country... So yes the US is more powerful and will eventually win but it will be so bloody that you can't really call it a victory... And as for the restrictions you said the US would slap on us to weaken us... We can just as easliy ignore them and sell our resources to other countries, we would easily get enough foreign support to at least make the united states back off a bit...

California has trade with more major economies. California and many other blue states give more to the federal government than it receives back, compared to many red states that give very little but gain much more in return.
@@samcalven12 yes and the us military has bfg's, snipers, and big ass bombs that can flatten all that in a matter of seconds while there sitting in Washington or camp david getting a bj and smoking a cigar. So what's your point?
I live in The Woodlands. Very nice place to live.
fun fact about Texas: Texas has the most registered guns, with 588,696. Another fun fact : The United States is ranked number one globally when it comes to gun ownership. In a conventional war, the US civilian forces would be more than well equipped to bring on the pain. The Texas National guard is the second largest in US. Something that seldom comes up, Texans have a brotherly love with Louisiana. We share culture, food and music, and that is something we Texans don't share with Oklahoma and or Nebraska! Texans are also partial to the enchantment state of New Mexico.
Yeah, that Texas grid screwed us when we got a freak winter snowstorm. No power for many for a week.
Texas used to be its own country, prior to the Mexican American War. Their flag had one big star in the middle, which is why it’s called “the Lone Star State. “
Texas wouldn’t be alone as many state would follow them and form a new union or republic. And the majority of these United States would be in that union.
Hi y'all. Just discovered you today: it started with a Dave Chappelle reaction, that led to 4-5 Bill Burr reactions (and I noted one of you wearing an Astros cap, my team) which led to the All the States video, which led to this, a bit about my home state. I will tell you Texas is unusual. Couldn't possibly explain it all with any brevity, since because of its size and geographic location, it crosses many bounds, cultural, linguistic, and ethnic. I've spent a lot of time in Europe (I'm a Germanist by training, historical linguist) and although I really enjoyed it and found it also extremely varied and ancient, it really made me appreciate Texas--not just Houston, where I live, or the Rio Grande Valley where I was born, or Galveston and South Padre Island, where I fish--but all the many cultural enclaves that no matter how different they may be (Mexican, German, Czech, French, African, Indigenous) everyone equally takes pride in being from here. I would say that generally, there's no need to secede because secession already exists in our hearts and minds: like many, I'd declare myself a Texan first before anything else. This is especially true for many Mexican-Americans whose people have been here for 3 centuries when this was a Mexican territory and state, Coahuila y Tejas, and fought alongside the many Anglo people who came here and fought for Texas independence from Mexico. It's great and I hope all three of you could make it here someday. We'll throw you a nice party and barbecue. Cheers for the great videos! Subscribed.
Yes, Pantera are big Cowboys fans. They are also big Dallas Stars fans, (hockey). They wrote a song for the Stars that played when they entered the ice. You can imagine how intimidating that would sound! 😉
Caveat, there are downsides to the lack of taxes in Texas. Look at the disaster that just happened with the statewide snowstorm. They don't invest in infrastructure. Also the independent electrical grid. Many people froze to death.
HTown 🤟🏾
Fun fact there used to be a Texan embassy in London but now what’s there is just a plaque
I am from Dallas and the Republic of Texas will rise again!!!!!
The Dallas Cowboys won 5 Super Bowls and they have the legendary Cheerleaders squad
This is nonesense. Texas has these numbers because is a region of the US. Without being part of the US Texas or other region of any other country in the world wouldnt have those same numbers. Put a border and not being part of a 360 millions internal market or with restrictions in trading, etc and will see how it would be. Anyone believes that any EU country would be as richer as it is now if wouldnt have acces to the single market and the benefits of being part of the EU? Of course not.
Wrong, you let us be our own country again, and all that numbers go up by at LEAST 50%
@@christaylor3409 Please dont be delusional and embarrass yourself by saying nonsenses.
@@kikebautista2110 well, it's clear where you're not from...
Native Texan. From North East Texas 20 yrs, lived in DFW area 27 years, currently in Houston area for 3 years. Great thing about Texas...you can buy a grand 3000 square foot house for $400,000 in Texas. In California or New York it will be 3-4 times the price. You get far more value for your money in Texas. Texas is a huge state with many different terrains; Plains, Piney Woods, Hill Country, Desert, Mountains, and Coastal areas.
Drive through Texas. You’ll see more Texas flags than American flags. We love our country, but we love Texas more.
I see Dave just going to South Dakota. owning 200 acres of land and just sitting on his porch in a rocking chair with a rifle. never shoots it. polishes it from time to time but just taking in the vast plain lands and being content with life.
If you like BBQ you have to come to Kansas City. Old cow town, gateway to the west. Some of the best BBQ in the world.
LMao the power grid... so yeah, they just had a massive disaster with their fully "independent" power grid.
Texas is so up it’s own ass haha. Texans are extremely proud of being from Texas. They are also very patriotic and love America, but they definitely love themselves too
Oh wow The Woodlands!?! I grew up around there! 242/Needham rd across 45 from College Park!
Texas is where the original spirit of the United States can still be found. "FU" is the State motto in spirit and execution. No pun intended.
