This is the end. Thank you for allowing me to indulge in another round of Undertale music. There will be a big writeup about my ideas on why to do an 11 minute long, three movement cover of Megalovania on my Patreon page. But, simply put: I couldn't do it straight. Everyone has. If I was gonna cover Megalovania, I had to do something different with it. Think of it like my way of giving Sans a "dancing mad" style epic final boss track, except it gets sadder as you go on. I love Megalovania, but it was starting to get stagnant for me, I had heard it and its covers too much. This is a brilliant new take on it that really brings it to life again. Good job, man.
Me during the first part: "Oh this is cool. I like it"

Me during the last part: "Oh this is amazing. I love it."
You turned this song into an experience, my man.

That's more than a suitable explanation; honestly Ace deserves a medal for his creativity and skill.
I haven't watched through this yet, but this is one of those things that I need to dedicate a solid 11 minute and 6 seconds to.... I'll be back.

I just did. Ace this is incredible. too much to say. My favorite thing was that bass around 7:50. The note length was just so perfect and it made me groove really hard. Amazing work.
And then the ending build oh my gosh. Ace, you absolutely did this song justice.

ITS SO GREAT
Comparing it to Dancing Mad is very, very apt, considering I'm getting the same vibe from this. The first part goes in strong and has the usual Megalovania "hype" to it, but then the middle makes it clear that this isn't your normal arrangement, which is cemented in the third movement.
It gives the impression that it's not a "happy" fight, as it shouldn't -- everyone is DEAD. It's melancholic. It fits the mood. It reflects how one might feel as they're trying for the nth time to beat the smiley trashbag, a little voice in the back of their mind going, "do I really want to go through with this?"
It makes you feel like your sins are crawling on your back.
This is a masterpiece, Ace. Thank you for bringing this all together.

This amazing journey into sound kept the most overplayed song of the game sounding fresh the entire way through. Awesome!

Ace, I feel like with every new cover you raise the bar for what covers should be. I'm astounded every time at what you put out man, and this one was no exception, I think it in fact goes far beyond the previously set bar. Phenomenal arrangement man. I can't wait to buy the purple side when it releases.

I was actually rewatching a LP of the genocide fight while working on putting it together and I realized just how sad the fight is, and how fitting the third movement is to the end of the fight. I had a concept of the fight being sad, but seeing it play out again was like...powerful.
Damn man. I definitely have an idea as to what you're watching/listening to. Having the LP and your arrangement side by side makes for these interesting parallels between how the fight and your music echo the progression of a sad narrative. Powerful indeed.

oh... Holy shit was that amazing. Hats off to you guys, you officially made the best, most interesting, and most creative Undertale cover. It was really great seeing all of the various collaborators and I really loved how you added that little melody from Snowy, it really gave the song a new meaning, tone and feel. Speaking of that, the whole time signature switch was fucking brilliant and man did it sound awesome.
All in all, I commend you Ace, you're fucking amazing. Seriously.

5 years later and I still feel this is the best and most unique Megalovania remix.
It's 2023 and this is still the most imaginative and memorable version of this song I've heard since first getting blasted by Sans to it.

This has gotta be one of my favourite covers. It's just so damn good. It's so great how you went beyond it being a cover and made it your own unique thing to such an extent. And the xylophone. The xylophone gives me chills every time, heh. So much time and effort clearly went into this, and I just love it.

I absolutely adore how the final act is a beautiful wall of sound, evoking Corridors of Time for me, and in parts something like Mega Man 2's themes. Each part of this stands on its own and stands together. Damn, what an incredible new take on a song that's already seen so many masterful covers.

Having listened to possibly every cover ever of this song, this one is truly unique and it's SO GROOVY. It's like watching the credits to a spooky movie that left you on a cliffhanger

Ah, I mislabeled the "kick" drum. Really reminded me of an overblown Kungfu Hit confirm. I feel like that really stood out and sort of took me out of the song. Still really impressive from a complexity standpoint.

Not many people can take on a song with so much admiration, take an insanely high bar they've already set with their work, and still produce an ambitious track that absolutely exceeds those huge expectations. I did it! 110 attempts later and like 6 hours of my life, but I managed to do it. I'm really happy! One of the best days of my life (asides from like one small thing going wrong but that had nothing to do with Undertale).

I would have made that French horn just a TINY bit more pronounced. not by much, just so I could hear that it was a French horn.
that french horn, and that whole hazy section was a constant balancing act of mixing. I will definitely take that into account when working on the final mixes for the album.

I could only imagine what that must be like to mix things just for stereo sound with so much going on. Like, I want to use Fruity Loops and begin making music, but I can't find a good source to let me use it for free (I'd pay for it in time of course). I fear the day I have to do the balancing parts.
Agreed, would have loved to hear more of the horn, mostly because I love brass in general, but yeah its color gets lost a little at such a low volume.
