I'd like to confirm that use my "Dmyco" yellow model v8 finder, which I originally did not think could receive the qo100 WB beacon (kept saying that the frequency was out of range), by following these instructions, I was able to receive it*! The trick is to set the wrong LNB type before inputting the transponder, then switching the LNB setting back to the correct standard LNB setting. Thank you so much for sharing this! * The signal strength and quality remain locked pretty still at around 60-70% or so, however the video wasn't being decoded properly - very blocky. audio seemed fine. No matter how much I tried to align my dish, this was the best I could get. This could be an issue since the symbol rate was dropped to 1500 and perhaps my receiver isn't great at decoding as low as that.
@user-kn9kh1hq8y great to hear that the trick also works with your Dmyco version of the V8, they are more or less all the same. On my V8 the video is still good with a 80cm dish . But my quality is always over 85%! What is your dish size? Also the LNB could be a factor - DRO are drifting like hell for example, try to use a PLL one. Thanks for updates Sandor - DM4DS
@@DM4DS so I fired up my Mini Touner and it's blocky there too! That's with an MER of 9db D4! So I think the beacon is broken. So perhaps, it would work well on my v8 too! My dish is a 1.1m Triax. After aligning my dish better I got my signal strength up to about 95% (can't remember what quality is).
@@JT-bb9di that the beacon has problems from time to time is well known ! There is a automated restart function already implemented to "prevent" it, but does not always work. A friend of mine felt in the same trap. sorry, have not thought about that, while I always think that everybody knows it and you speak about the typical h.264/265 blocks if the signal is weak, with the lock coming /going...my fault. Good you figured it out. The next "problem" with the V8 will be the AV1 codec. I´m testing a lot the last 3 months, but old hardware is not able to decode it. On PC you can download the codec and the CPU does the job, but not on things like the V8. AV1 is coming. At the moment I´m the only one as I know, have not seen someone else testing with AV1, yet. But it is coming while the programmers trying to implement it in the tools. If it is in the easyDATV tools, more will use it and the V8 can not decode it, even on 2Msyms, I already tried it on the bench. I´m using ffmpeg to UDP ---> pluto and for RX minnitiouner ---> VLC. If you have a minitiouner and able to TX, give it a try. Really impressive which quality you can compress into a 500kbit video stream, including 64k audio. It is like night and day. My GT Media V8 Finder Pro 2 has max lnb range settable to "9750-10750" only (there is no wider range setting) and then trying to use 10492 ends up with "out of range". Their newer "meters" are worse than old or clones?
Hey @arekx - i had multiple newer versions in the last months and all worked like I show in the video. You have to "cheat" like described and then all worked for me. If you straigth try to enter the frequency , you end of with the "out if range" - maybe watch the video again and follow it step by step, except the bandwidth (look in the description). I hope it works for you too, vy 73 Sandor DM4DS

Thank you very much for such valuable information. Could the DATV beacon not be operational as of January 6, 2024? I have followed everything to the letter and I do not receive it. Let's see if anyone can help me, thanks in advance. Note: the satellite dish is correctly oriented and I receive the existing FTE channels in Es´Hailsat 2
Hi Ho - you changed the 2000, too? Look in the description of the video, they changed it years ago, after the video. Also your signal / SNR must be high enough. With a too small dish or badly aligned it is not possible to receive. vy73 Sandor - DM4DS

Correct. Updated the text.
Hello dr op. Is this with an unmodified LNB?
Yes.. Standard PLL LNB. No reference used.

can we get any cw/ssb audio from qo100 on this receiver either natve or via usb connection?
Thanks for asking , but the answer is: NO - it is not able to do SSB or CW on the narrowband transponder - it´s a simple TV receiver
