I unironically and unapologetically LOVE Legends Of Wrestling 2. A great roster, linking moves together and a cool career concept. I'll take that on every day that ends in Y
Exactly 💯 I've played all of the legends of wrestling series by acclaimed and tbh I absolutely loved the series the concept was cool and the story mode was epic I mean what other wrestling game before or since let you experience the territory days like legends of wrestling I can honestly say it was one of a kind to go all of the world like the 80's world champion
I love Legends of Wrestling 2 and had a lot of fun with the career mode if u brought it in the UK you would get 4 exclusive British Wrestlers from World of Sport wrestling
As a diehard Sting fan, Showdown was the best way to play as him in a non-WCW game until the TNA game came out. For that reason, I have an immense love for Showdown. The intro also goes insanely hard.
Well that does make sense, because ECW were with Acclaim for their games. If you remember the Def Jam Vendetta game was supposed to be a WCW game, but WCW got sold. As WCW were with EA, for their games at the time.
I've had the chance to play the Legends of Wrestling games recently, and here's my opinions. Legends of Wrestling 1: The first, but worst of the series. It has janky movements, not too pleasing graphics, and a roster that needed more. Legends of Wrestling 2: One of my favorites in this series. It added Piper, Andre, The Steiner Bros, and Andy Kaufman. It was practically an expansion pack for the first game. The only thing I can say negatively about the game is the gambling system to get other wrestlers. Showdown: Legends of Wrestling: Better Graphics, a stacked roster with Sting, Ultimate Warrior, DDP, and Curt Hening, all the characters from the previous two games, and no Gambling! Although, there are glitches in the game, and the control scheme changed for some reason. If you want to play any of the games, I recommend Legends of Wrestling 2, and Showdown Legends of Wrestling.
I personally loved and miss these games I didn’t care how long it took me to get a hang of it I continued to complete it by any means necessary 😅 thank you for this
The overall engine was quite innovative and ahead of its time, it just had awful pace and framerates. But the weapon attacks, career mode and pinning combos/move linking were really good.
Coming from a person who had all three games , they had features that other wrestling games to this day don’t have. Tbh all three games kept me playing more than Fight forever and the tna game. I enjoyed them even tho they were not the greatest, they still had enough to keep me playing.
I actually really loved the Showdown Legends of Wrestling game so much I used the play it all the time only thing was when doing tag matches sometimes the guy would freeze and get stuck and you would have to quit the match
The only good thing I can say about these games specifically Showdown: Legends of Wrestling is that it has an incredible roster. There are so many legends from different eras and companies in that game it’s crazy.
The best thing about the series was the ability to eliminate yourself in the rumble matches by diving from the top turnbuckle onto an opponent outside the ring
I loved these games and had no idea they had a reputation of being horrible.🤣 Like, they were 'Raw vs SmackDown' but they weren't 'WCW Nitro' and 'WCW Thunder' either.
I love legends of wrestling. It was my first wrestling game, that and backyard wrestling. I don't think people understand the fun you can have, as you looked to have fun playing aswell..
I didn't like 1 much, except for learning some history, but had a lot of fun with 2, especially the Story Mode (that I didn't complete). The idea of going through the territories was really cool, and I believe it led to unlocking wrestlers. Showdown doesn't look too bad, but I never played it.
I genuinely loved LOW2, especially in the UK as it had the 4 UK legends too. I thought it was quite fun to play with the chain wrestling and excitement metre.
I remember them saying that the first Legends of Wrestling game would have steel cage, ladder, barbed wire ropes and a scaffold match and none of those matches were in the game
I never played the third game, but LoW2 was pretty decent. The problem is it came out right around the time Shut Your Mouth was released, which was impossible to compete with.
These games had potential. Legends of Wrestling 2 and Showdown have an amazing roster. I think the problem is the lack of move sets (reminds of the TNA game having a lack of move sets), so you had wrestlers doing moves they wouldn’t have done.
I remember playing those, and they were definitely more limited and whatnot than the big games - definitely had a "this is the budget version" vibe, but I still remember enjoying them.
Legends of Wrestling 2 was only good for the cheats, wrestlers, and arenas. Gameplay, controls, and gambling was just really bad. Edit again: bad part about unlocking the cheats you need to gamble to get a specific amount and specific color of two or three different color credits for one cheat. You needed to gamble to get them and it was just RNG.
Got to remember that back then none of the smackdown games had more than 10 legends at a time. Nowadays you practically have a legends game within all the 2k releases.
These games don't seem too bad for their time. The only complaint i really have is it's a Legends series, but they have wrestlers who were active at the time on them.
It sounds the ones who don’t like it; 1. didn’t like or knowing who the wrestlers are OR 2. Cared more about the Gameplay than the experience of having extra features and a deeper Legends Roster than anyone has EVER seen in a wrestling game before OR since.
I loved Showdown Legends of Wrestling, the gameplay wasn't even close to be as fun as the Smackdown series but I enjoyed everything else about it from the roster, different attires, the intro with Bang Your Head by Quiet Riot, the match types(it had 4vs4 and 4 way tag team matches like 18 years before WWE games had it) and even the character creation while being limited was still good enough to create other wrestling legends
My favorite of this series was show down , as it had a vast roster to chose from . That and the bang your head song was pretty good lol . i kinda wish they had an updated version of this game with modern graphics and things of that nature .
I remember that i actually had a lot of fun with Legends of Wrestling 2. It also introduced me to many of the alltime greats i had never heard about before and got me interested in the legacy of pro Wrestling especially the golden age so it has a special place in my heart. Not to mention that it did bring me back to wrestling at all and was probably even the reason i stsrted watching again although i might got this memory mixed up with Smackdown vs. RAW 😅
Showdown Legends of Wrestling (and the previous games to a degree as well) was marred by Acclaim's shaky operation status. They moved development between internal studios and then prioritized passing cert over fixing gameplay issues. The game released within months of Acclaim collapsing and ceasing operations. The team that did Showdown would attempt to go in to work a some time after release only to find the doors locked. It'd take them months to get personal items from that building. This was how they found out Acclaim went out of business. The eulogy for this series is a fundamentally good concept on paper, but needed a more stable company to give it the nurture it needed to succeed. There is fun to be had if you can overlook some of the flaws, but it hasn't aged as well as contemporary wrestling games of that time frame.
Man, I love LOW2. It was my real introduction to most wrestlers (I was a newbie to it during this time), so it was kinda history lesson, with very repetitive gameplay. But to this day it still holds a special place in my heart. LOW3 however...Man, what a buggy mess.
I love playing legends of wresting two when I was younger. For some odd reason i choose Robert Gibson for the career mode all the time but it’s the game I remember playing constantly
The UK versions had British legends in them too which probably helped with sales since there weren't any other games out there with British wrestling legends. So there was that. Legends 2 also came with a World of Sport wrestling DVD in some stores. The games weren't the worst I have played but they weren't the best either. I still enjoyed playing them at the time
12 year old me really enjoyed these games! I was in my phase of playing anything wrestling related. If anything, these games gave me an introduction to older names within wrestling that I wasn’t getting from wwe programming or games at the time. They certainly don’t hold up against today’s standards but at the time I think they were perfectly servicable.
Fun games with friends . Single player not so much. The third game was my intro to a bunch of the older guys. I think it’s the only time dynamite kid was in a game .
Legends of wrestling was actually my first game I ever played on Xbox. I never got my hands on a true wrestling game until smackdown vs raw on 2008 on xbox 360
Legends of Wrestling 2 is the one I played. I created Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Batista and Triple H custom characters. The game overall was "ok" at best. Not great by any means. That "Superstar" intro from "Saliva" did something for me and idk why, but it made me think the game was cooler than it actually was when I was younger.
Legends of Wrestling 2 was great. The roster on showdown was top tier at the time..gotta remember we did not have legends in the wwe games when the first legends of wrestling came out so it was magic.
I believe it was reported that Tony Atlas signed a contract for four games, I assume so did at least most others. So, we would have gotten a fourth game if it wasn't for Acclaim shutting down, Of course, the closure of Acclaim also impacted the production of Showdown. I don't think the game would have been amazing with more time given, but some of the many bugs might have been ironed out.
I don't know why the legends of wrestling get so much hate. They are honestly such fun games to play. Played hours and hours of it to my little hearts content
2 looked really good, like a precurser to svr and 2k games in terms of playstyle, just wasnt competing well with smackdown so it got the 2000's equivalent of review bombed so they started from scratch in 3.
This may be repeating a few comments but there were some new and unique concepts in the LOW games... the grappling mechanic of putting your opponent in a front face lock or pile driver position and doing different moves from there was quite interesting compared to the current games at the time. The chain wrestling was unique, too. The fact that they could have the rosters they did was shocking compared to today. Most of those guys have Legends deals with the WWE. Overall they weren't good and they were very sloppy but the concepts they used were taken up by better games.
So idk if you've seen it yet but there's a new wrestling game coming out and it has McGregor and a dude that kinda looks like Roman on the picture. Games called wwm 24 maybe we can add it to the list lol
I unironically and unapologetically LOVE Legends Of Wrestling 2. A great roster, linking moves together and a cool career concept. I'll take that on every day that ends in Y
Facts
only the rumble match kind of suckt because it was really hard to win. o mistake and you we're out of there
Exactly 💯 I've played all of the legends of wrestling series by acclaimed and tbh I absolutely loved the series the concept was cool and the story mode was epic I mean what other wrestling game before or since let you experience the territory days like legends of wrestling I can honestly say it was one of a kind to go all of the world like the 80's world champion
I had a lot of fun with that game too, after not being too thrilled by the first one
Best Wrestling game on the OGxbox
“This game is uglier than Paul Bearer in the nude” why is he catching strays 😭😭😭
Because imagine it… like a holloween costume
I love Legends of Wrestling 2 and had a lot of fun with the career mode
if u brought it in the UK you would get 4 exclusive British Wrestlers from World of Sport wrestling
I’m British, and wasn’t born anywhere near the original British wrestling days with WOS. Still, I would love to play that 😂😂😂
*WWE 2K20 sweating in the corner.*
Yup lmfao 😂😂
The forbidden game
2k20 wasn't even that bad. Compared to like 2k15. It's amazing
As a diehard Sting fan, Showdown was the best way to play as him in a non-WCW game until the TNA game came out. For that reason, I have an immense love for Showdown. The intro also goes insanely hard.
I always thought that Showdown was a very WCW-esque considering the roster they had and having Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan on commentary
The 1st one introduced me to so many legends who I didn't know. For that it will be in my heart forever
Rumors it was supposed to be an ecw game but they got sold
Well that does make sense, because ECW were with Acclaim for their games.
If you remember the Def Jam Vendetta game was supposed to be a WCW game, but WCW got sold. As WCW were with EA, for their games at the time.
I wouldn’t say everyone hates Showdown Legends of Wrestling honestly there’s something special about the game and it’s the roster. Love your content!
Okay the link moves are very cool ngl
The only game I know of that has this feature is FirePro , no other game has that feature
@@JacksonAveGaming WWE All Stars also had this feature when you used grapplers/technicians.
10:43 that immediate stunner was the icing on the cake 😂
I've had the chance to play the Legends of Wrestling games recently, and here's my opinions.
Legends of Wrestling 1: The first, but worst of the series. It has janky movements, not too pleasing graphics, and a roster that needed more.
Legends of Wrestling 2: One of my favorites in this series. It added Piper, Andre, The Steiner Bros, and Andy Kaufman. It was practically an expansion pack for the first game. The only thing I can say negatively about the game is the gambling system to get other wrestlers.

If you want to play any of the games, I recommend Legends of Wrestling 2, and Showdown Legends of Wrestling.
Had legends of wrestling 2 on gamecube and i loved it. The soundtrack was really good.
We also need a full storymode playthrough.
You had a GameCube. You had no choice.
I personally loved and miss these games I didn’t care how long it took me to get a hang of it I continued to complete it by any means necessary 😅 thank you for this
Legends of Wrestling 2 was my first wrestling game and I loved it!
Same I remember meeting a guy in middle school he was a big fan of this game too. But he wasn't a fan of watching pro wrestling
I see these three their not that bad at least they have a game mode that has stories not like 15, 17 or 18 from 2K.
I believe in Chris Danger
👏🏽👏🏽
We all do
I Believe in Joe Hendry
@ I’m glad that you do and I believe in him too I hope you and I can have a match with him one day
👏👏
2 didn’t even look bad
The overall engine was quite innovative and ahead of its time, it just had awful pace and framerates. But the weapon attacks, career mode and pinning combos/move linking were really good.
How old are you
I played it in real time
It was TRASH
Coming from a person who had all three games , they had features that other wrestling games to this day don’t have. Tbh all three games kept me playing more than Fight forever and the tna game. I enjoyed them even tho they were not the greatest, they still had enough to keep me playing.
Not everyone. I very proudly proclaim my love for the legends trilogy 😅❤️
Chris you’re amazing. Thank you for the amazing content of the years. You’re funny and entertaining. Keep up the good work Chris. Your amazing.
I actually really loved the Showdown Legends of Wrestling game so much I used the play it all the time only thing was when doing tag matches sometimes the guy would freeze and get stuck and you would have to quit the match
A character that would make the games better: Chris "Freakin" Danger.
I actually liked the LOW Series. It just lacked in CAW Mode, movesets needed to be more realistic and more moves in general on the game.
0:30 it’s the Roku background for me 😂
Rt my Roku is doing that same screen as I type
Whats the problem?
The only good thing I can say about these games specifically Showdown: Legends of Wrestling is that it has an incredible roster. There are so many legends from different eras and companies in that game it’s crazy.

I love denkops videos btw my birthday on the 26 im excited🎉
Happy birthday
@KenpoJuJitsu3 Thank you
A L.o.W 2 story mode playthrough would be sick
Did Chris get a new haircut? I like it! But it does make him look like Wesker from Resident Evil lol.
The legends of wrestling game series wasn't bad I enjoyed them all for what they were
Make You On There Chris Danger
Tony Schiavone commentating in number 3 was lit
Fuck yeah
“Paul bearer in the nude….”
And I was just about to eat🤮🤮🤢 thank you Chris
Ha ha ha
I know people hated these games but as a kid I loved em, but this game still didn’t age well
I didn't like 1 much, except for learning some history, but had a lot of fun with 2, especially the Story Mode (that I didn't complete). The idea of going through the territories was really cool, and I believe it led to unlocking wrestlers. Showdown doesn't look too bad, but I never played it.

I liked Legends of Wrestling. Sure it wasnt the flashiest game, but me and my brother had a lot of fun with it
Super chill video great content keep up with all the hard work
These games had potential.
Legends of Wrestling 2 and Showdown have an amazing roster.
I think the problem is the lack of move sets (reminds of the TNA game having a lack of move sets), so you had wrestlers doing moves they wouldn’t have done.
Would love to see Chris play Backyard Wrestling 1 & 2
2:40 Jimmy Hart with The Last Ride 🤣🤣😭
1:27 JIMMY HART😂😂😂
I remember playing those, and they were definitely more limited and whatnot than the big games - definitely had a "this is the budget version" vibe, but I still remember enjoying them.
I enjoyed Legends of Wrestling 2. Used to play it with my buddy growing up
Legends of Wrestling 2 was only good for the cheats, wrestlers, and arenas. Gameplay, controls, and gambling was just really bad.

legends of wrestling 2 was a staple of my gamecube collection. that game, wrestlemania xix and day of reckoning were GOATED
Aaaah the memories... legends of wrestling 2 was my first wrestling game and my introduction to wrestling
2K24 literally JUST added throwing weapons and blood on the canvas this year…..this is how far in the universe that series is…
The soundtrack on Legends of Wrestling 2 was fire. Glassjaw, The Used
I loved everything about Legends Of Wrestling 2. It was a lot of fun.
I liked part 2.. plus the royal rumble was funny.. people getting eliminated so fast 😂
Bret "the swordsman" Hart
Wasn’t expecting to see Chris Benoit cosplaying as RVD…
Great video🔥💥
This should be interesting 😂
Facts 😂😂
It sounds the ones who don’t like it;
1. didn’t like or knowing who the wrestlers are
OR
2. Cared more about the Gameplay than the experience of having extra features and a deeper Legends Roster than anyone has EVER seen in a wrestling game before OR since.
I remember buying legends of wrestling 2 on day one and yeah it’s not perfect but I had fun with it the soundtrack is 🔥
Oh yeah I remember having one of these games and it would freeze every time certain theme songs would play.

I loved these games. Took time to get good at them and to get use to the pace. But once you got it down, it was a blast to play.
7:27 that was an AEW no sell 😂😂
I remember that i actually had a lot of fun with Legends of Wrestling 2. It also introduced me to many of the alltime greats i had never heard about before and got me interested in the legacy of pro Wrestling especially the golden age so it has a special place in my heart.
Not to mention that it did bring me back to wrestling at all and was probably even the reason i stsrted watching again although i might got this memory mixed up with Smackdown vs. RAW 😅
This makes me reminiscent of the N64 Wrestling games. Man those were fun as a kid!
I have legends of 2 for the game cube I got it for the Von Erichs and the story mode . I’ve had fun with it
Showdown Legends of Wrestling (and the previous games to a degree as well) was marred by Acclaim's shaky operation status. The legends of wrestling games I played were on the original Xbox and I remember thinking how every wrestling game on that console was terrible.
Man, I love LOW2.
It was my real introduction to most wrestlers (I was a newbie to it during this time), so it was kinda history lesson, with very repetitive gameplay.
But to this day it still holds a special place in my heart.
LOW3 however...Man, what a buggy mess.
I've always wondered about these games...now I don't have to! This was silly fun lol.
Thought you were talking about fight forever for a minute
Loved the territory days career mode. Also the strong roster.
I love playing legends of wresting two when I was younger. For some odd reason i choose Robert Gibson for the career mode all the time but it’s the game I remember playing constantly
Showdown was the best one in the series. I always hated how the wrestlers stood back up after getting pinned.

WWE 2K20 has left the building 👀🤣🤣
The first one kept me coming back as a kid for some reason
Legends of wrestling was actually my first game I ever played on Xbox. I never got my hands on a true wrestling game until smackdown vs raw on 2008 on xbox 360

I only played the last one, but I remember liking it a lot. Definitely taught 10 year old me a lot about wrestling history.
3:50 boy I hope they make another one of those 😭😭
Sequel coming out in 11 months, 🚩🚩😂😂😂😂
Chris is the only one to make a bad game look fun 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I believe it was reported that Tony Atlas signed a contract for four games, I assume so did at least most others. All the wrestlers in LoW2 all have the same facial expressions 😂.
And Sabina as guest referee 💀
Sup bro here since 2019
woah they have the full group of the blue man group too !!!! this game is awesome
This may be repeating a few comments but there were some new and unique concepts in the LOW games... the grappling mechanic of putting your opponent in a front face lock or pile driver position and doing different moves from there was quite interesting compared to the current games at the time. Legends of Wrestling 2 was goated and enjoyable and different 🔥
So idk if you've seen it yet but there's a new wrestling game coming out and it has McGregor and a dude that kinda looks like Roman on the picture. Games called wwm 24 maybe we can add it to the list lol
