Yeah he is not quitting, the experience from english debate, building youtube gaming, and being in itb make him can delivering english pretty good in this talk, gaing many followers in new youtube channel, and accepted in japan.

His English is so good... super easy to understand, and straight forward. Ofc the content was outstanding, but it is the way he delivers his story that really grasp my attention
your parent should be really proud of you zahid. kebanyakan orang merasa takut akan perubahan, namun itu hak masing-masing manusia. semoga video ini dipahami anak muda Indonesia, dan menjadi motivasi untuk memiliki tujuan yg lebih baik
Life is a series of choices. We can never know exactly the outcome of each options. Let's just try our best to analyse and choose the 'right' decision.
Omaigodddd. Is it.... Is it.... Is it zahid? How come you get here :) so proud of you. Hope more talented Indonesian youth come here to motivate world's youth
Good luck for your next adventure Zahid :) such as an inspiring talk you shared in this video. 3 lessons I gained when I decided to quit my old job: 1. The courage to start new 2. The strength to move forward, and 3. The ability to value myself better :) For everyone who is in the middle of making an important decision in life: trust your gut feeling. Wishing you all the best.
This story is very related to my experience. As a civil engineer student at one of the prestigious uni too, i failed to graduate in 4 years because I am to afraid to quit an organizational activity outside campus that turns out have a very bad impact to my life and study. I am afraid about what other people in the organization think about me if i quit. Like Zahid said, we have to think reasonably about this kind of problem and what other people think is not a reasonable reason to stay. One big thing that i learned from this story and my story is our life, time, future is in our hand, we are the one who have to determine our life not somebody else. Doesn't mean that we ignore everyone's opinion, but that's not the purpose of the decision that we make for our lives.
I like his talk... it's encouraging.. Only that not many people's stories relate to that kind of privilege or leverage.. people fall into some sort of delusion... great talk anyway!
The uncertainty of choosing a path to take in our life is something that will and always be haunting us. Eventually, we can only react to present task that is in front of us. With that said, I couldn't stress my self to create a 'masterpiece' rather I have to focus on what I am facing today and work on my self to become a better person. We are not wasting time by learning new things or studying subjects that we don't really feel into it, because it is part of the journey and the journey will always continue throughout our life. What I get from Zahid's perspective, choosing to quit means you want to focus on specific purpose which lead the direction to your goals.
I have quitted from school for two times because I was not happy and got depression, but right now I have my own path. I embarassed my parents at that time, but I promised them that I would find the right way to live my life.
last week, I have withdrawn my credentials from a well-known university in my country. I'm in third year architecture, but I guess I chose this major for the wrong reason: being hyped with the drawing and presentation aspect. (I didn't see myself in the profession). I couldn't take the toxic learning environment anymore since it was already costing my sanity (esp sleepless nights and peer pressure) Right now, I signed up for a university where I know I would fit in. also, I ventured into a science major, BS in Biology. I find this video very comforting since it validates the idea that Quitting is for Winners. For others out there who are feeling lost, I wish us all good luck and hopefully will have the opportunity to bring out our narratives.💓
you're amazing! congrats for being one of the people that choose to get out of their comfort zone instead of staying in for the sake of others' oppinion. wish you the best for your future endeavors
I actually relate to your situation very much . I was in my first year architecture but by the second semester I had the exact same realization as you had. I couldn’t handle the toxic environment as well as realized that I couldn’t see my future in the career so I changed my department in the university and instead went into industrial engineering. It was a big risk at the time and I am still dealing with the adjustments but truly it was the best decision that I took.
Bang Zahid, aku udah ngikutin abang dr lama, banyak pelajaran yang aku ambil dr Abang, bahkan aku sampe cerita ke mama tentang Abang. Melihat bang Zahid sudah sukses gini rasanya kek bangga banget
"we need to accept that the short-term reality of confronting other people and confronting other stakeholders may be horrifying but this is a necessary step in hopes to win us long-term fulfillment." thanks, zahid! those words are so magical.
Thank you for your inspirational speech about quitting. It makes me ralize my last quitting must be motivated me to make a more beautiful happy ending than my sorrow to loose it after three years of struggle to get it. Hope we have a great future together a good person that make their environment better place.
this video appeared on my youtube homepage so i decided to watch it. you know? I was blown away by how inspiring the video was. I love the courage this guy has. it wakes me up to start my own journey 🤎🤎 thank you tedx talks, and thank you for your powerful message kak zahid ✨. guess i should watch this kind of video right now..
I highly value your thoughts, Zahid Ibrahim. I highly admire the book "The Long Game" by Dorie Clark during these long-term decision making. Our legendary poet in Bengal, Rabindranath Tagore, always raised voice in favor of self-learning, abiding by one's own nature.
A lot of respect to him. 😢
it never hurts to quit doing something with the right analysis at the right time. quitting is necessary and does not mean failure. quit with the right analysis and no need to listen around and find your way. Be yourself, find your happiness for your life.
masyaAllah, you are so brave ka! thank you for sharing your life experience.., it is amazing.. I hope Allah SWT will always give you and all of us the courage that we need to make a decision in our life, the strength and power that we need to always go ahead in our life journey, and the happiness in every moment of our life aamiin allahumma aamiin..
I'm 18 yo and I kinda have some situations like you, the feeling that losing interest in something like some time comes to my mind word like "what would I achieve at the end of the journey", I feel terrible I feel burnout I feel loosing I feel I can't take it anymore, and thanks to your video, after watching it I search for your name on YT and I found a lot of stuff that actually helps me a lot.
I quit my job"own", i knew it was wrong decision from the first days but tried to stick and hold on. I became more depressed and irritated until I did it 5 months ago. I felt sad and griefed for a month or two but definitely felt free. Going to abroad for studies its massive and uncertain move but i guess i will make it.
Thank you for inspiring me, kak Zahid Ibrahim!🌟 I don't know if I don't open TEDX today, maybe I won't know when to stop and open my eyes wide to be brave maake decisions and take 100% responsibility for my choices without interference from other parties. In a few years I will come back here and I will see myself in a different place and all of that is thanks to your contribution. Let's see, hopefully

Indonesian here, I graduated med school a year ago and just failed my licensing exam. Back in high school I was lost and didn’t know what to become, I did not receive the guidance I needed as a teenager. My parents wanted me to become a doctor and as the eldest child I pursued medicine to make them happy. 7 years later I’m not the happiest I’ve ever been, I can’t quit because the many years my parents invested in my studies. I’ve tried to like medicine all these years but just couldn’t and constantly trying to find a reason to keep going. Being on meds for my depression and anxiety is not worth it, but in our culture parents would always be first. Please pray for me to find my way, thank you x
how about now ? do you find it yet ?, I'm a medical students myself and currently struggling in my 2nd year, I just hope that I actually in my right path so I could work it all out until the end
Winners were losers at some points in life. The term "winners" itself is debatable. How do you claim yourself as a winner? Life changes, we win some and lose some. Quitting is part of seeking for an assumed better option. It takes courage which many lack of. Well, nice to see an Indonesian youth given a chance to share his life.
Thank you sooo much Zahid for such an inspiring talk! Wish u all the best in pursuing your next journey in Japan 🇯🇵 I was afraid to quit my engineering job because I worried so much about what will people talk about me. But, after a lots of thinking about my future and health, I did a big move this year. I quit my stable job. Honestly it was not an easy decision but I am proud of my own decision. Really looking forward to start my new life chapter 😀
I want to leave my current major. I know my goals, but I'm just a human who can only try and pray to the god. When I made the decision to out of this major, my whole family were against me and even said I was an ungrateful. I was stressed almost depressed and almost secretly go to a psychologist. Your videos that made me better and helped me to make a very big decision in my life. I hope you can see my comment which is a mess of grammar. One word from me.. Thank you Kak Zahid🙏
