Lots, and lots and lots of practice. And when you first start, your spine is stretched and hurts, but it also improves your posture. Also if you're like me and you practice enough, with heels on if you're a girl, you'll find yourself walking as if you're still in your heels. The pose also relies heavily on the lead (males) to support their follow (females).
I have never seen the stubborn bulls lockhorn so long on the ballroom floor, from 1:01 to 2:05. Gentlemen don't do dual with ladies in their arms. Bad example for the young boys learning modern ballroom dance.

Considering that a judge has only some seconds for each couple to watch, a dancing couple must be marked, not the two self-blocked ones. That was my logic, but I agree it is fun))
As an Argentine tango dancer I just don’t get this. It feels incredibly fake to me. Also the steps aren’t anything like actual tango. It’s like a waltz step with odd head and arm and chest contortions. When you know the language of actual tango you can dance with anyone else and no other language matters.

There is, from my limited understanding, quite a bit of cultural appropriation associated with many ballroom dances. That being said and acknowledged- I love dancing and watching both argentine tango and ballroom tango. They are completely different "animals", so to speak, and that is precisely why I love dancing both of them. Dance is movement. It is an expression of the soul. It is connection- to oneself and to others. Dance can and does take many forms. Not all are my preferred "flavor" to dance or to watch, but they are all worthy of respect nonetheless. Speaking to all dancers and spectators/appreciators, I hope that we can learn to appreciate a variety of dances and interpretations of dance, especially those that are different from what we, ourselves, choose to dance and/or watch.

this is European tango. You probably talk about argentine tango. They are definitely different styles
