I’m so pleased you said you took a couple of days to rest. Listening to your voice early on you were taking risks. During the 70s-90s I used my voice as a singing workshop leader every day and my problem followed a week at a northern folk festival where I was performing, announcing, and running children’s workshops making about four sessions a day giving a daily contact time of six or seven hours. Most of that was outdoors and I was completely acoustic - i.e. no amplification. I was mute for five months, eventually needed speech therapy and lost my confidence to sing for several years. There is no way I would attempt that workload now. Apart from anything else I’m getting perilously close to being seventy. You only have one voice, a good one at that. Being a professional means taking care of the tools of your trade, one of which is your voice. All the best as always.
That's a crazy story! Definitely a lesson to learn in there! Now I'm even more glad I took a day off... I was definitely in a little denial about how my recovery was going in those first few days of this challenge!🙌 It's true though, you have to treat your voice as a tool, an instrument in its own right... losing it would be detrimental! Thank you for the kind words! 😃

I have been watching your video's for quite some weeks now and yes, you are an inspiration to me to get this thing going. The only problem is here in my city you have to get a permit and cannot play longer then 15 minutes in one spot wich makes it hard to do this. However this does inspire me to see how i can deal with this. Now all i need is a guitar wich i can plug in and an amp so i need to do some saving.

Stoked you've found the channel and feel called to Busking! It's such a rad thing to do and so fulfilling as a musician! 😃 As for equipment, if it requires batteries the best move seems to be buying rechargeable batteries! The amp I currently use is charged by the mains but I'm about to buy the Roland Cube which does use batteries, but as said, I'm going to get myself a rechargeable set! 🙌
If you have time, go to Germany on December christmas market time. Do your research where you Can Play with amp and get municipal permissions and get some 50-100eur for an hour busking. Better if you have a car to travel. For 3 week journey made 2K Eur after all expenses.
@@AugustRadioProject For me easier was small and mid size towns. Since I was travelling by car it took less Time to get in or out of town. I did few hours in morning, then mid day session Next town , evening session another town. Got cheapest airbnb somewhere in between. Drove circles around my accomodation average 100-200km a day Total. In Germany they are strict about Time you Play in One spot, so there is a limit you Can do in one town and it runs out fast. Good part is that you get higher hourly rate around 40-70. Will not mention any locations, because Germany is large and almoast any town was good for me, especially the first visit when everyone is new. I did not bother getting permissions, first I played and if place was good and I was willing to return, only then I spent my time going to municipality office. No problems with police, first Time they just inform you, I did not risk second Time in the same town.

Ackshually.... with 52 weeks in a year you're talking about 52k GBP a week. To put that into perspective, salaries are higher here in the USA and yes half our workers make less than $20k a year and quite a few make less than $10k a year. I'm in "Silicon Valley" and make just a teeny bit over $20k a year and am very lucky to make that.
Fantastic!!!! it's an interesting number £2.22 does that round off to £2.00 after the izettle commission? I will keep you posted as to how I get on. Had 7 paid gigs this year hope to double it as well as continue busking. @@AugustRadioProject
Nice one mate. Found you while looking for the Mackie Showbox. Love what you're doing. As a gigging musician for 9 years. I've decided to give busking a go. Is the showbox worth the money? Be lucky. Keep going. New follower. Cheers.
Stoked you've found the channel! So rad 😃 honestly, the ShowBox is incredible... does everything you could ever need it too and it's kinda wild how good of a sound you can get out of it. I'd say it's definitely worth the investment, you won't be needing to get anything else after! 🙌
@@AugustRadioProject Great job, love the staccato chord stabs. Reminds me of something by Pete Doherty of the Libertines (UK artist that started chart climbing in the 2000’s) Petes very talented but couldn’t stay out of his own way long enough to keep climbing the ladder.
@@A.K47GTG oh good question!! I started playing guitar when I was 11 and I was obsessed the minute I started. Used to play for hours upon hours (still do!!) so it’s been a fair while 🙌🏻 I think it takes about 6 months to a year to get to the point of playing basic songs with basic chords (playing/practicing most days)🤘🏻 as for lessons… this is entirely dependent on how you approach learning as a person, if you need motivation and direction get a teacher, if you’re self motivated and prefer a looser structure then use RUclips/books/etc 😊
I usually play for 3-4 hours! £10.30 isn't bad at all... best thing to do is to keep at it, some days aren't so much and some days it goes wild! The important thing is you're out there! 🙌😃

@@Lielzemnieks noted!! Thank you for this 😃 I’m definitely up for giving it a go!! 🙌🏻
I've been binging your videos because I want to start busking soon and they've been incredibly helpful and inspiring! Thanks so much dude! Have you ever been busking in Australia?
That's so awesome to hear! I really appreciate the kind words 😃🙌 I haven't yet been busking in Aus, I do know of a few people that have/do and they say there's a scene out there! I 100% intend on heading out there at some point to do a busking road trip!
Great video, great message! I would highly recommend not to buy the street cube but go for a Udo Roesner Da Capo! It sounds really Awesome!!
Thank you!! I actually ended up with a Mackie Showbox as they gave one to me! It's rad! 😃 🙌
That's awesome, to get gear! I'm gonna youtube some more ;) amazing option to be able to record to sd, I still need an external device (portable Tascam), works well too but also extra cables & setup time
Hey! I've just started busking at the ripe ol' age of 57 and your vids have helped me find the confidence to go out & just do it. Never let it be said that us old farts can't learn from positive folks such as you. Thanks for the inspiration bro x
That's honestly so awesome to hear 😃🙌 I really appreciate your comment and can only encourage you on your busking journey, never a bad time to start as long as you do - that's all that matters!! Good luck out there my friend!
So so good, that is all! ARP 🙌
Thank you dude! Always appreciate it 😃🙌
Have to say you're an inspiration, love you're positive attitude and zest for busking and life in general. I've been toying with the idea of getting out there myself, but I guess the first step is always the hardest.
Anyway, thanks for the videos, keep having fun 👍
Thank you so much for these kind words 🙌🏻😃 it really means a lot!! The hardest part is getting out there, just give it a go - I can’t recommend it enough!!
Great video. Hope you got your amp you wanted.
Thank you dude!! 😃🙌
Inspiration its what you are mate
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it! 😃🙌
Haha! My maths in this video was clearly off 🤣 but this is a good point to raise regarding the other salaries 🙌🏻puts it into perspective 😊
Thank you bro
Thank you!! 😃🙌🏻
inspirational x
I appreciate it! 🙌 😀
Still waiting for part 2!!!! Please!!! 🙏✌️🎵
So rad to hear... I'll be sure to make one at some point! Challenge excepted! 🙌 😀
Hi!! so great)) i not understand how many hour in day you play? I live busking experience and i feel so good.)) Thanks for your testimonial!
That’s rad!! Thank you for the comment. In this video I played for 3-4 hours on most of the days 😃🙌🏻
@@AugustRadioProject Supeeer! You give me a wonderful suggestion to make this adventure for one week. Who now? Maybe in this Summer. I like it!!!

You covered millencolin! You win.
I freakin' love that song!! 🙌🙌
A quick query,, do you have a set amount set on your I-zettle? Like 2or 3£? Thank you . Your channel has been both inspirational and educational 😊❤️🎶
My Zettle is set at £2.22 😃🙌🏻
Fantastic!!!! it's an interesting number £2.22 does that round off to £2.00 after the izettle commission?
Dude, if you come up to Liverpool for a busk as you was thinking about, then give us a shout, and you can crash in ours
That’s awesome! I am planning a trip into the north soon - I will let you know!! So rad of you, thank you 🙌🏻😃
@@AugustRadioProject No worries man, do you have a FB page and I'll add you as a friend, probably easier to get in touch that way

🤣🤣🤣 Mother Nature - the buskers only boss! 🙌🏻
@@AugustRadioProject ha ha yes! You've really inspired me, I'm gonna try busking full time now (got to look for spots with cover though ha ha!)
Nice motivational video . Not quite sure how it would work here 😂
Thank you! 😃🙌
What was the first song he played? while on George Street
This is my song, "To The Beach"😃🙌 - ruclips.net/video/HC0eTEChcIc/видео.html
@@AugustRadioProject Great job, love the staccato chord stabs. Reminds me of something by Pete Doherty of the Libertines (UK artist that started chart climbing in the 2000’s) Petes very talented but couldn’t stay out of his own way long enough to keep climbing the ladder.
How much were your train tickets?
Did you perform for five hours a day or just two hours a day?
What typa pick do you use
I use the Green Jim Dunlop Tortex picks 😃 I have done almost the entire time I’ve played guitar 🤣🙌🏻
How long did it take you to learn guitar. And do u recommend getting lessons or just learning songs straight
How many hours did U Play per day? Yesterday I Had a Bad day. I only Made 10, 30 in one hour.
Is this normal on some day? 😂
I usually play for 3-4 hours! £10.30 isn't bad at all... best thing to do is to keep at it, some days aren't so much and some days it goes wild! The important thing is you're out there! 🙌😃
@@AugustRadioProject Would be cool to meet U someday in England because im in Germany. And how do U Take Care of your voice when U Sing 3 hours? And how Do U Deal when people Sometimes Just Walk by?.hahaha sorry, so many questions 😅
@@samiravinciguerra2836 haha of course! If you see me busking just come say hi 😃 also I may be in Germany at some point! Taking care of the voice: I do 30mins of vocal exercises on he days I’m not busking. If I feel any slight tickles or signs of it going bad then I drink lemon and ginger tea 🙌🏻 people walking by is something you get very used to - it’s all part of it 😊✌🏻
Vocalzones mate
They are good!! 😃🙌🏻
50 for a private event? Dude I get $500 here in the states.
Dang, nice work! 😃🙌
ive made that in a week. was not trying. people just like me.
So cool!! 😃🙌
£1000 nah nah nah!!!. £200 to the taxman. You are left with £800 😂😂😂
Haha!! I guess I’ll have to shoot for £1500 to be in profit 🤣
1000 a week is 52,000 not 48,000
I know, this has been pointed out to me a few times 🤣 a reminder to check the maths before I film next time! 🙌
ah man you're gonna get me back on the streets aren't you haha. ive had my AER mobile in the cupboard since before covid. haven't really felt the call since but I do miss it a bit.
I'm all for it! If you got a bit of time spare, it's never a bad way to spend a few sunny hours! 😀 🙌
