June 6, 2020: I dedicate this song to Sgt Manuel R. Martinez, 23, of Albuquerque, who was killed on Aug 22, 1975 south of Santa Fe. (He rolled his new 240Z Datsun as he returned to the city from his mining job in Farmington.) He trained at Camp Pendleton and served a year in Okinawa, and was a member of the Catholic Church, Carpenter's Union and VFW. Before he joined the Marine Corps, I had given Manuel the CALL ME 8-track for his 18th birthday. Consequently, he began to wear a small crucifix around his neck from time to time....a sweet gesture. He was a gentle, kind, loving, affectionate and hard-working Marine who loved life! My family didn't like Manuel so his untimely death became a traumatic event for a naive 18-year old who had fallen in love. *Time will never erase my love for you. Katrina
