- Culture shocks are real. I have decided to share my experiences of life in Germany as a Brit, as well as the beautiful places I am lucky enough to visit.
My meditative videos show a calming and artistic view of the places I visit and the quiet, peaceful wanders I take through them. Medieval villages, picturesque cottages, beautiful cities. Relax and escape with me from the busy bustling world to my dreamy and serene slow living way of seeing my surroundings. Experience the magic of peering into the past and being in a fairytale, just for a little while.

Welcome to the South of the North.
And thank you for trying so hard to transport the feel of the North to a wider audience. It is usually completely lost to people focussed on the more instagrammable Alps.
Oh, thank you. I honestly love the North. Can’t get enough of it.
People who love the foggy days as well are truly blessed.
Yes, I agree.
Hi lovely Lauren ❤️ Thank You very very much for spreading so much love! 💋🌹💋

Thank you so much for watching, Gareth! Yes, that bread… I torture myself by watching this footage! Lol!
Beautiful area and did that bread look great.Your lucky to be were thete is real food.Great Video as always😎
Yes, I do think the German food is good stuff, fresh ingredients. I’m very lucky, I agree, Clifford. Have a lovely Sunday.
There are some beautiful places in Germany as I've discovered in Bavaria. Must visit the northern areas and the Baltic coast. That windmill was just fab.
Yes, you will have a wonderful time in any region, it’s just incredible to discover! Have a lovely Sunday, Alice!
There is nothing like a walk along the dike on a cold, windy winters day. It clears your mind, just as if all the negative thoughts are blown away with the wind. The grey sky becoming one with the grey sea. It widens your perspective.
Sadly, I have only experienced this once, many years ago. But maybe I come back to the North Sea coast, one day.
I hope it for you, Marina! But your description shows that even just one visit made a beautiful impression on you, you describe it perfectly!
@@LaureninGermany Must be ~10 years ago, that I was sent north as substitute for a sick colleague. It hasn’t happened ever since. But it might happen again.
Besides, I love all parts of Germany, each and every region for its unique beauty. Being a field service specialist, I get around quite a bit.
My native language is German obviously, but working for an International American company, I need to be fluent in English as well. To me, it’s all the same, German or English. Two “cousin” languages, somewhat, but not too closely related.
I am so pleased dear Lauren, that you are visiting my home town of East-Frisia . On the North Sea coast you can for wonderful walks and the good sea air clears your head and clears your bronchi. You can also take good bike rides along the canals and see the windmills. Loveley Greetings from East -Frisia.😘💞
I LOVE the effect the air has on my lungs! Just the memory of it males me feel better. Breathe deeply for me!
@@LaureninGermany My husband and i love this effect too, yesterday we went for a walk along the north sea.
@@blondkatze3547 how wonderful! To be honest, I prefer the colder, out of season time at the sea.

Wie nett! Danke sehr, und einen schönen Sonntag!
Years ago I visited Ostfriesland, the Land, where my grandparents lived, where my father was born and where my brothers and I Spende all our summer Holidays. And both castles of Dornum were closed, so my perspective were the same as yours! Nevertheless your Films are beautiful and wonderful relaxing
Oh dear! Do have a look at my video from last time, „Can you be happy living in Germany“. I show you inside the castle in that video. I have been lucky enough to perform in the Rittersaal a few times.
And thank you so much for your lovely comment!
Northern Germany has its own charme, I guess. You don't have to describe it perfectly, people should come and experience the wideness of the landscape, the chance to slow down your life and enjoy just being.
You are right, Lüttje Freese is plattdeutsch (low German) and means indeed small or little Frisian. By the way, there are many local differences in low German, there is not only one. I just wish I could speak more, not only understand it when listening... ☺
Thanks for warming my heart with that beautiful video of the end of Germany 😁
Thank you so much, Detlev! Yes, dialects change from village to village, also in Bavaria! And absolutely, people need to experience the Nordseeeffekt for themselves, it’s so unique!
After a while even frisians become acquainted to you and explain, preferably with a beer.
@@susannabonke8552 I have shared many a pleasant evening with a Frisian. It’s a high compliment, if they decide you’re worth their time lol!
Oh Lauren, how could you do this to me. You've stirred a terrible Fernweh. I haven't managed to visit Ostfriesland although I wished to so for a long time. And your video is making it so much more desireable.
You must go! Have a look at my videos of the islands, too! I feel no guilt- you need to do this!
Thank you, Lauren, for sharing your north German trip. It is a very beautiful area, too bad you couldn't get more footage of the castle. However, it all looks like a great place to visit or live. It is also nice to see that you are making progress on your camper van. The insulation will go a long way to make it more comfortable. I hope you share more of your van project progress as you go. All the best - Peter
And I‘ve been to the castle so many times, in snow and sunshine, but before my channel! Since having my channel, it was covered in scaffolding or closed 😂
I’m glad you’re interested in the van! I‘d love to keep sharing a bit.
Have a lovely Sunday, Peter!
Lauren, das ist ein wunderschönes Video geworden - gefällt mir sehr, sehrr gut. Und klar auch die Slow-Motion-Einstellung meiner ehemaligen Baby´s - den original Annenhofern, haben mich total begeistert.

It is so nice to see such a video from my home region and I am glad that the atmosphere of Ostfriesland is portrayed here pretty well and I have a bit of Heimweh right now. Really enjoyed this one.

By the way, have you considered visiting Helgoland? It's not Anglesey, and you can't see Ireland from its cliffs, but it has it's merits. ;-)
I‘d love to! I’m trying to get there…! It hasn’t worked out, unfortunately.
Fantastic video Lauren. Another beautiful German village/town that is on our bucket list thanks to you. I just discovered you the other day and I am catching up to your posts. Cheers from Las Vegas, NV (USA).
Oh, that’s great! You‘ll find lots of lovely places in my videos and lots more to come. I‘ve been further afield lately, but still plenty of Germany on its way!
always liked North Sea from Vlissingen to the north end of Denmark. And of course the British part as well
I have only been to Rømø, bit I believe Denmark is very beautiful? I‘d love to visit! I’m hoping to go in my van.
I used to bake my own bread in days of yore :) and as soon as it was ready and somewhat cooled off I started to eat it, sometimes "mit ohne irgendwas" lol, sometimes only with a thick (!) layer of butter and a mug of milk. I can understand you too well! And btw another wonderful relaxing video full of quiet Lebensfreude! Danke. 😘😊🏳🌈

There is only one thing better than waking up in your camper van next to the sea (or on a mountain top 2 km further up). And that's on a sail boat in the harbor. ;-) I once bought a 26ft boat in Jemgum, not far from Dornum, on the other side of the Ems, and I slept there for two nights before we could haul it away. The sound of the water, the seagulls, the metallic pling when the lines rhythmically hit the masts, the fishermen preparing their boats after the tide is turning and the water starts rising. That's truly magical. Now I am a member of a boating club not far from Wilhemshaven, and it's really nice there.
After taking up the camper thing, we'll get you into a boat as well. ;-)
Actually, it's even cheaper to have a sail boat than a camper van. Used boats are not expensive, insurance is hardly more than for a moped, and if you invest your own work into the necessary maintenance, it's quite affordable. Even the boating certificate is much cheaper than a regular driver's license, something like 500-600 Euros.
@@mogon721 my husband will faint if he reads this, but there is part of me that would love a sailboat. I’m actually scared at sea, so this doesn’t make any sense at all, and is why he‘ll be completely confused at my answer.
@@LaureninGermany Well, there's always inland sailing on rivers and lakes. Depends on whether any of that is close to you, but usually, there is a boating school in every midsized town along rivers like the Rhine. And there are also a lot of lakes. Although I have to admit that, for instance, the Bavarian lakes are unbelievably expensive when it comes to things like a mooring place. Even sailing in a small open dinghy is great. There is nothing more liberating than when you feel how the boat comes to life in a little gust. :-)
Personally, I changed from the 26ft keel boat to a smaller 20ft sword boat because I can slip that into the water anywhere. Not a great sailer, just a bulgy daysailer with enough space to live in there for a time, like the minicampers many people use nowadays. Makes me very independent and flexible, but it's still a lot of fun to sail it. I'm not a bluewater sailor, just hopping along the coast in the Waddensea at most. That ship has sailed for me. ;-) A dream of mine would be to travel along the channels in France. Not under sail, of course, but by outboarder, but my little boat would be perfect for that. :-)
Ah, I´d love to sail on the salt waters! And your dreams sound like something you should make happen!
Hi Lauren,

Braunfels and Alsfeld in Hessen.
And old technology: Schiffshebewerk in Henrichenburg in NRW.
Thanks for all your videos.

I envy you for that bread. It looked so delicious. Also I know that feeling of eating a whole loaf and then suddenly thinking: OMG, I just ate a whole loaf of bread, PLAIN!, and it was delicious!
I was up there recently and didn’t make it to that bakery. I envy myself right now lol!
Nice pun.
And good to see your working season has started again.
Take your time with the van. If you don't you may end up doing things twice.....
I almost didn’t dare to use this pun, but I just couldn’t think of anything apart from „Lauren eating bread and walking by the sheep“ 🤣
You’re so right about the van. I’m sure I‘ll have to re-do simply because of my incompetence, so rushing won’t help things!
