Definitely! Sound quality is better in the "Unsurpassed Masters" box sets (which is almost as good as the tape transfer I have), but they're great on both releases!
Hi Jamie and John Elvis Memphis Sessions on FTD one of Favorite love listen to lots cool Elvis albums to have fun with what like do true have great time keep up cool video my friends take care
Geez, This cd was a revelation. So hard to find now, but I treasure my copy and was delighted with the takes of, “Wearin That Lived On Look” and “Power Of My Love”. 😊
Nice video to check out before bedtime! Speaking of bootlegs, I was wondering if either of you have ever checked out the book Jailhouse Rock by Lee Cotten and Howard DeWitt? It's all about Elvis bootleg records made in 1970-1983. It's a cool book to have if you are interested in vintage Elvis bootlegs. Thanks for the look at the Memphis Sessions! It's not one that I have in my collection. I LOVE listening to Elvis cuttin up during recording sessions, and those are some of my favorite things to listen to. ⚡️TCB⚡️
Thank you! And funny enough, while I don't think I have that book (yet), I was literally looking at online listings for it earlier, so your timing is really wild! 😁
Memphis sessions was my first FTD when I was on my first trip to Graceland at the age of 14. When I asked the clerk at the Heartbreak Hotel what these are. They just shrugged and said outtakes I think. Had to get Memphis Sessions being my first time in Memphis. First time I hear 75% of the material as well. May not be the best sound, but this disc is great!
That's awesome, Duke! Thank you for sharing those memories! And I totally understand; some of the releases that have the most sentimental value to me are ones with absolutely horrible sound, but it still brings good memories of the first time I heard it!
Thank you, Mark! As far as sound, you're not missing much - especially if you have the 5-CD American Sound 1969 set - but it's certainly not a bad compilation!
This may have been your "evil" plan all along - but you have taken a moderately obsessive Elvis Music Fan and caused him to dive back into his collection and revisit some old favorites. I currently have in my playlists a homemade Elvis in Nashville, a Homemade 76 Graceland Sessions, a Homemade TTWII Soundtrack, and now a Homemade recent Memphis Box compilation opting for Jamie's undubbed masters picks instead of the ones on the actual set. All of it sublime.
Hi, John! LOL, "evil plan," I love it! You know, if we can help fans rediscover their love for all this with fresh eyes, while leading the fanbase to new and awesome things, then that's pretty cool! And I love the playlists, too!
@@EAPSociety …and you guys have made me realize it is ok…and valid to want and to expect more from his releases in terms of sound quality and completeness…and if we don’t get them…heck…make our own!
@@EAPSociety On that topic…and I realize this is very subjective and a much longer conversation…not including any of the FTD releases…would you say “Finding The Way Home” is the best non official compilation? I know its mono…I think we all have various packages of this material. I have something that was fan-made called “The 1969 Project” That has supposedly taken the best quality versions of every take that has circulated in an attempt to be as complete as possible with what we have. But as a 2 disc Memphis Sessions primer…Finding The Way Home? I am not including things you guys have access to that the general public might not.
@Johnmhemp That's a great question! It's definitely hard to beat "Finding The Way Home," that's for sure. Right there with it would be the Cool Romeo "Unsurpassed Masters" Vol 4, that has a LOT of 1969 in pretty good stereo (I have a raw copy of the reel that boot came from, so I can tell the CD set is a good cassette copy source, but still good quality, regardless). So, for me, it's between those two.
I was going to comment here on this release since I have this, but since you deleted my comment from the "Guitar Man Sessions" video because I mentioned how I disliked the edits, I guess I won't waste my time on here anymore.
I hated the edits, too, so why would I delete it? I've maybe deleted 2 comments in the entirety of this channel, and neither were yours. RUclips does weird stuff like that sometimes, and I have no idea why. I don't see it in the "held" comments, but that's happened before, too.
❤❤
I always loved the “Power of my Love” outtakes on the “There’s Always Me” 2 disc long box. Just awesome. 😊

Another very cool unboxing guys. 👍 cheers from Houston 💯
Thanks, Boysie! 😁

Yeah, it was! I'm still amazed this wasn't an "Essential Elvis" volume, really.
@@EAPSociety Yet another in a long list of baffling decisions by the label/producers.
Interesting and useful info as always. 👍
Thank you, Woody!

Well-spotted, Paul!
I do have this one but am waiting on a new cd player so I haven’t played it yet. Nice video gentlemen!
