Thanks this is what WWF did best booking not in-ring talents, now they have in-ring talents but they can't book reak what amazed me about AEW nowdays is not their in-ring product which is awesome but thei r booking decisions which are great!
My Review for Survivor Series 1998: Tournament First Round: Mankind Def. Duane Gill (N/A) Tournament First Round: Al Snow Def. Jeff Jarrett (**3/4) Tournament First Round: Stone Cold Steve Austin Def. Big Boss Man via disqualification (N/A) Tournament First Round: X-Pac vs. Steven Regal ended in a double countout (**) Tournament First Round: Ken Shamrock Def. Goldust via submission (***3/4) Tournament First Round: The Rock Def. Big Boss Man (N/A) Tournament Quarterfinals: The Undertaker Def. Kane (**3/4) Tournament Quarterfinals: Mankind Def. Al Snow via submission (N/A) Tournament Quarterfinals: The Rock Def. Ken Shamrock (***1/4) WWE Women's Championship Match: Sable Def. Jacqueline (c) (*) Tournament Semi-finals: Mankind Def. Stone Cold Steve Austin (***) Tournament Semi-finals: The Rock Def. The Undertaker via disqualification (**) Triangle Tag Team Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship: The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg & Billy Gunn) (c) Def. D'lo Brown & Mark Henry & The Headbangers (Mosh & Thrasher) (**1/4) Tournament Finals for the vacant WWE Championship: The Rock Def. Mankind via submission (****1/4) (+10 for The Rock's Heel Turn) Final Thoughts: One of the great PPV's in the Attitude Era and perfectly booked The Deadly Game Tournament was main focus in this show. I don't we're to begin with this that I'll talk about Mankind vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin where Shane was the referee for the match Austin delivers a stunner to Mankind but Shane stopped the count and flipped off Austin. Brisco and Slaughter came in the ring and hit Austin with a chair causing Mankind to win the match. Later that night in the Tournament Finals The Rock defeated The Undertaker earlier. And is now facing Mankind to be the new WWE Champion. And this match was basically the MOTN The Rock locked Mankind in the sharpshooter and Mankind grabbed the rope but the bell rang even though he never submitted. Once Again deja-vu from Survivor Series 1997 the year previous. Vince and Shane came out and raised The Rock's hand plot twist The Rock was the new corporate champion and for me one of the best heel turns in WWE history. Overall: 7/10
@@reviewerexperience6015 luckily we didn't get any pole matches on that night. We could've gotten Mankind's mask on a pole or Austin's vest on a pole. Or hell even a Shane Mcmahon on a forklift match.
My ratings Manking vs Gill (DUD) Snow vs Jarrett (DUD) Bossman vs Stone (DUD) Regal vs X-Pac (2.5/5) Shamrovk vs Goldust (2.5/5) Bossman vs Rocky (DUD) Taker vs Kane (2.5/5) Mankind vs Snow (2/5) Shamrock vs Rocky (3/5) Sable vs Jacqueline (NR) Stone vs Mankind (3.25/5) Taker vs Rocky (2.75/5) Tag Team match (2.75/5) Rocky vs Mankind (3.5/5)
Any show where a multiround tournament is the focal point is bound to suck; see WrestleMania 4 or any King of the Ring. I would have cut the opening round and have the tournament start with Kane/Taker, Shamrock/Rock, Boss Man/Austin, Mankind/Snow. That saves over 10 minutes and brings the card to a more reasonable 10 matches. What it lacked in wrestling it made up in storytelling, however. Turning Rock heel again was a gamble that paid off and Foley became a mega babyface. If the main storyline was Vince corrupting the tournament, why did he give Austin a bye? Would have made more sense to have Regal beat X-Pac and put him in a competitive match with Austin.
So many memories I absolutely love this show the booking was pretty much perfect
Londrick Yep, definitely the booking was on point.
this has my favorite opening pyro

Fun fact: Vince Russo booked this show
adam mcallion I know he booked it very well which is weird to say considering wasn't good by dark days for WCW in winter 1999-2000.
