What is amazing about the Lindas Lindas is their music draws people from all ages, yet without comprising their edginess. All substance. Pure rock and roll.
I absolutely love this! As a 29 year old Asian American, I feel so proud and full watching these gals. They’re so badass despite being so young! It’s awesome, such a great sound, they’re very talented and I can’t wait to hear more!
I’m another middle aged punk rock person who really appreciates the spirit of this band. I hear the energy of the Ramones, the Dishrags, the Blue Hearts, Bikini Kill, Shonen Knife and Afrirampo here. You kids are helping me get something really cool: punk music will keep regenerating itself long after people my age are dead and gone. It’s a comforting thought!
@@odakyuodakyu6650 Not sure what your point is. I listed 6 bands, 3 Japanese, 2 American and 1 Canadian. The Linda LIndas really remind me of a lot of punk bands here in Japan, so it's not 'weird' to list those. They named themselves after a Blue Hearts song and they met with Shonen Knife when they were here in Osaka last month, so it's not like this similarity is just something that occurred to me. Kindred spirit bands aren't all from the same countr, you know? I probably should have listed the Taiwanese band Ladybug too, as that's another band that the Linda Lindas really remind me of. Also, I listed the Blue Hearts third of the 6 bands, so they aren't exactly 'at the end.'
@@mabewa you mention Shonen Knife and Afrirampo, completely different sound, however they are female and japanese bands, as always the shallow male gaze will make connections between musican based on gender. of course all japanese now the blue hearts song Linda Linda. we dont consider it punk music here in japan. i think this band is carefully created pop band by record company Epitath. do you know Epitath, in america they created skater rock sound which is pretty boring music and ruined music in the 1990s.
@@odakyuodakyu6650 I didn’t say any of those bands *sounded* similar-to my ears, all 6 sound pretty different. I was talking about their energy (and really their spirit as well). I could have listed 20 bands from various countries and various genders, but I wanted to stick to bands that English-speaking people may be familiar with. Rata Negra, Beat Happening, Tacocat, Ladybug, Flop, Bam Bam, the Young Fresh Fellows, Otoboke Beaver, the Fastbacks, Cat Fight (貓打架)Jitterin’ Jinn, and the Go-Go’s also come to mind-those bands sound pretty different from each other too, but they share a similar spirit and energy. I hope it’s not a problem that some of those bands are Asian and many have female members. Or do we have to pretend that punk has always been white and male? As for being female, if I was just thinking of female bands, I wouldn’t have mentioned The Ramones or the Blue Hearts. Not surprisingly, female punk bands tend to have something in common , especially when (in the case of the Linda Lindas with Bikini Kill and Shonen Knife) they have directly influenced each other). For the same reason, I’ve heard male punk bands all over the world that had a lot in common like The Clash. Nothing wrong with being influenced by other bands, as long as you do something original with your sound, as the Linda Lindas certainly are. Would you object to that too, or are we only not allowed to mention female bands having similarities with other female bands? Would you be happier if I only compared the Linda Lindas to male, Western punk bands? And as for the Blue Hearts not being punk, that’s a new one for me. I was introduced to them by my wife in the 90’s and she and everyone else described them as a punk band at the time. I know that they were revered in the then-burgeoning Taiwanese punk scene. Not sure what generation you are, but I have lived in Japan for decades and seen hundreds of punk bands here, and I do not hear people disparage the Blue Hearts. By the way, one thing that is massively refreshing for me about the Japanese punk scene is the lack of gatekeeping and people getting in pointless arguments about what is and isn’t punk. At least, that’s what it’s like here in Osaka, and I hope it stays that way.
I saw the Linda Lindas open for Jawbreaker last week and they killed it. Their energy was infectious and you could tell they were really, really enjoying the moment. I felt like I was witnessing these kids live out their dream and it was an incredible thing to witness.
I am a Japanese “THE BLUE HEARTS” fan. I was watching their videos on RUclips and came across their videos. I am glad to see that their spirit has reached the girls across the sea and is now taking shape.
Dang! I'm just moving my feet like in 1980. Rock on you punks...you rebels of Rock, the world needs more Linda lindas touring with the Idles. Making music that people hear for miles away. God bless.
Saw the Linda Lindas with Paramore a few years ago. They're young enough to be my kids. I wish I had a band like this when I was little to sing about the stuff I was going through.
Even if you’ve never been a punk rock fan you have to at least appreciate how fun this experience must be for these girls. This song is really well produced and super catchy - I hope they just continue to blow up. 🤘🏻
I finally found it,what a great song! This playing at the beginning of Ruby Gillman was a great choice,it really sets the tone for the movie and Ruby’s character growth throughout it.
To me,this song will always be known as "Meet Ruby Gillman" because that's just it,we first meet our favorite saltwater sweetheart as she begins another day of school...or so she thinks!
i think it's because at 0:35 it sounds really similar to 'Wave of Mutilation' by the Pixies. I've noticed a lot of major labels are borrowing from the them recently.
I'm a huge fan of these girls from the first time I watched the library video. Every song I thought was my favorite as I listened. Then I heard them play this one at the Head in the Clouds festival and thought it was great. I heard it when it debuted the other day and then probably 20 times now and I hear so many uplifting and positive things each time. The chords are really great. The little horn or keyboards in the chorus are such a great touch to make this song really soar. I loved "Oh" and "Monica" but this was has a special place.
What do you think about "Never say Never" (ruclips.net/video/kTYvl0XgHOc/видео.html)? 😊 It is also by Lucia. Of course, I love it so much😂. Her songwriting talent is just beyond my imagination.

It makes me so happy they’re on Epitaph. As a long time punker since my teenage years in the late 80’s, they’re every bit as punk as some of my favorite bands and could rival any if they keep this going and don’t go more mainstream. Either way, they’re badass and talented.
Looking this band up in prep for a Green Day concert, they're gonna be a fun opening act. Solid Go-Gos sound with The Donnas mixed in too. They also remind me of White Reaper in the way that their sound feels like it came out longer ago than it did. Lookin forward to more from them.

I'm enjoying the " We'll sing 'bout things we don't know" line. It subverts the inevitable critical narrative about being young, inexperienced, naive, but still having a broader reach than most young people. Who knows the reasons why some artists see success over others who do not? Talent, relationships, and good fortune all play their part. I look forward to the album, and seeing what these young artists are capable of creating. Well done.

i love this - it's amazing how the youthful energy and innocence still manages to shine so strongly through what is clearly a very heavily manufactured product - and of course it doesn't hurt if your dad's a grammy award winning producer...
I have to agree, Michael. There is something about this band that captures the very "essence" of the early punk or indie-rock scene. Even though they are way too young to truly understand how fresh and exciting rock music felt in those days, a band of family and close friends playing music they wrote and clearly love -and playing the heck out of it - is immediately recognizable as the perfect embodiment of what made that bygone era so unforgettable to those of us who lived it. Also, it must be said : Eloise's vocals are punk as fuck on the songs she sings, which offer indisputable proof to anyone who questions these girls' punk-rock chops.

How could I just come up with worryful thoughts on young musicians!? I really don't get your point, apart from intentionally misunderstanding people to call them out you "woke" troll!
SinSon missed the point of your comment. I definitely agree with your point
I just turned 41 and been a punker since 13 (cut my teeth on Green Day, Offspring, NOFX, Pennywise, Rancid, etc). Thanks for keeping the genre alive, ladies. Rock on! 🤘🤘🤘

You guys kick ass! My 11 yo and i listen to alot of rock and punk together and she considers alot of it my music but this band she knows is hers. 😊 thank you and ignore the haters.
Stick together, have each other's back, have fun, stay real, enjoy the journey and don't let adults get in your way... Great video! Definitely a #1 hit.
