I mean to be fair, the cat was scratching biting and lest we forget “He’s in my room if I stop petting him he’ll bite me!” Then a few moments later “I have to go to the bathroom.” Cat shrieks followed by pain. I’m a cat lover but honestly, Duke was just a bad behaved cat. Yeah he was mellow around his doctor but he knows the doctor and honestly as a cat person myself I would send Duke back in a heartbeat if he was terrorizing my family like that.
I've had to deal with both cats AND dogs who acted like Duke (though to be clear, the dog wasn't aggressive, just bonkers)
@@Revan498maybe the base should do a better job of matching families with pets.
GREAT KITTY MONK KING OF THE HILL HANK HILL IS THE WORST CAT 🙀 OWNER.
cats sometimes bite you when you're petting them because they got over stimulated and perhaps you pet them wrong so it's a warning.
@@Rikkiroo1008my family has a black cat who nips our arms to show affection, he does it *just* hard enough to cause the most pain possible without drawing blood … if he wasn’t such a sweetheart I’d swear he was a masochist 😅😅😅
The silver lining for me is seeing Bill just get a solid win in life, getting a nice boost to physical and mental health out of his time with Buster.
And most importantly, he didn't betray, usurp or sabotage anyone for that W so it's earned.

I think it was a combination of ignorance and prejudice about and towards cats and the fact that Duke in general was kind of a douchebag
Agreed. Hank didn’t like cats in general but Duke was a giant douche of a cat
honeslty I don't think the writers knew anything about cat behaviors. like they jusy made the cat a jerk for the sake of making cats look bad. because people expect cats to act the same as dogs when it an entirely different species

I'm in the military and there is no way they would make a foster pay for vet bills. The owner would be contacted and they would foot the bill.
Of course Hank’s a bad cat owner. He’s more of a dog person.
Well not really. Ladybird's far too old to really be much of an actual dog. They usually tend to do more than lay around and yawn, even if not by much.

@devinpaul9026 especially since it's a bloodhound if Ladyburd was younger they would be running after that dog constantly and unless Hank did hunting regularly who knows if she was properly trained to be controlled with those instincts
@@devinpaul9026 Well Hank himself is kind of old.

As someone from a long time cat owning family and as a future crazy cat lady, I remember that episode with both anger at how the Hills handled that poor cat, but also scornful laughter at how ignorant they were and how it served Hank right how easily conned he was by the veterinarian. Hank is such a martinet dork, he goes to “Duke’s vet of choice” and won’t stop until he gets the sign off. Duke is a CAT, he doesn’t get to choose his vet. **starts screaming incoherently and throwing cats**
I just realized this was the second animal named Duke that was a giant douche on King of the Hill

There are a lot of moments in KoTh where Hank needs to be cussed out or smacked.
I think when you suggest alternate plot points or different writing approaches, your recommendations should INCREASE the tension and dramatic stakes, not let air out of the balloon. If Bobby and Peggy didn’t suffer because of Hank’s actions, the episode itself would suffer by being more boring, and we wouldn’t be interested in watching it. Same thing if the nonprofit reimbursed them for all the medical expenses. That would decrease the conflict and hurt the story. That’s what we don’t want
Says you
This episode could have Hank learn to see Cats in a new light like how Arthur did
but it unfortunately didn't and Koth treated any animal not a dog like crap and that rubbed me the wrong way
It made him double down on hating cats
I’ve been a cat person since I was born. I’ve been around them on and off my entire life. I just vibe with cats more. I’ve had some truly amazing dogs, and still do. But the cats? Are out of this world. Even overcoming my allergies to be closer to them and grasp just how amazing cats truly are.
Hank’s a dog person of course he wouldn’t know how to care for a cat. Also that vet took advantage of Hank’s ignorance on cat care.
It's a great episode with an important lesson. Hank said to this soldier "I will take what part of your suffering that I can on myself, to honor your doing the same for me as my country's soldier", and he did. He never compromised his morals, and all it cost his family was a vacation.
The vet is a scam artist but he represents the unfairness of life, and Hank shows us how to deal with it with dignity. He doesn't even complain to the owner when he returns, bearing his own mistakes in silence.
Doing the right thing doesn't always pay off, abd sometimes the suffering is unequal, but we do it anyway, because it's about the principle, not the reward. By his example he's teaching Bobby how to be an honorable man and to live with meaning, and that's worth far more than any vacation.
Wow....that is the most gullible AF, self andergizing pile of nonsense ever written ever with tons of holes littered throughout.
Doing something noble for a deployed soilder is one thing, but being a doormat while you're taken advantaged of is pushing the line since we never met this soilder to give Hank, thanks.
Being taken advantage of and dealing it with "dignity " from an opportunistic vet isn't the flex you think it is since the soildier himself is more likely being scammed as well.
Doing the right thing doesn't always pay off, but Hank this this out of his blind patriotism and didn't consider his family first beforehand, and that sentiment goes for different set of circumstances that require different forms of selflessness, this isn't it, the principle also means not being someone's b!tch and know when to discipline yourself too.
He's not really teaching Bobby how to be honorable since there was no intent and Bobby already learn how to be honorable in many better eps than this one and this just doesn't, its sloppily handled.
How is it "better" than any vacation which offers you to relax and get a load off? (you can't be an honorable person is one has pent up grivences and stress).
There's perspective and there's areas of faults in that said perspective, think about that before rambling nonsense that even bootleg hallmark would reject.
I myself have had an idea for an episode, only in mine, Bill gets a cat he adopted from an animal shelter. The cat helps improve his mood and he is clearly happier, but Hank has a problem with it. He says it's because he's worried this whole cat thing is going to backfire on him based on his track record, but in reality he just doesn't like the fact Bill has a cat. Basically he assumed Bill was getting a dog.
It can be annoying when Hank does things like this and expects other people to go along with it.
Eh Ig I can see that fwiw ngl that is a fairly good point I have to admit legit fr. Yk?
I would have just said "Oh no, Duke chased a person and got hit by a car"
To be fair it’s just simply because he’s never been around cats before on like a personal level unlike hank I’ve always been a cat person as I still see my pet cat that passed away as still as my best friend I’ve belt similar relationships with my parents pet dogs but to me it doesn’t feel the same
Funny enough, Poodles used to be commonly used as hunting hounds.
Bonus points, another 'girly' dog breed chihuahuas are ratters, as in they are good at killing rats
The breed was invented to be bird dogs.
Bill is the unsung hero of this episode. 😊
True , the starting points for The Simpsons and Family Guy are the couches. Although, the bars are very close seconds
To be honest….this is one of my favorite BILL episodes.
I only watch it if I want to see Bill get a win, and the period between dinner and lunch is called Linner! Dinch also works too.
look, I love cats, but it's completely unreasonable to paint Hank in the wrong here. rare kitty monk L.
Just like you said this episode could have worked better if they changed a few things, like maybe Hank ends up liking the cat because of what kind of cat it was. Some of the larger cats like Ragamuffins and Maine Coon Cats can have a personality similar to a dog. As for which I prefer I am good with both currently have a dog ( Boxer/ Whippet mix) and am looking to get a cat to keep her company when I need to go out like for shopping or work, She has been a little lonely for the past month since she lost her Beagle sister. The Beagle was 12 years old and my dog keeps looking for her
As a southern person (U.S.), the meal between lunch and dinner is called "supper." "Supper" is also lunch, dinner, or any meal that isn't specifically "breakfast", and even "breakfast" is a popular meal for "supper." Even a snack can be a "light supper." 🤠
See i call it linner
Hank hill wasn’t a cat owner. That’s not his cat.
I love your King of the Hill videos
I recently watched Dominic Noble (Smith) 101 Dalmatians video. I feel like Cruela Devil has a string case for being a worse cat owner. In the book the cat does get revenge!
It's linner Kitty, linner is between lunch and dinner
I find uh oh it's Canada worse than this episode.
you'd think the form would have a section that says like "i can't take care of X animal" with a select all that apply thing but i guess realism isn't the most important thing in a tv show, lol.
My fan theory is this episode is just bills dream or hanks nightmare because it really makes no sense when scrutinized lol
As a child, I didn't really like cats because they scratched me, guess what creature wakes me up :V
Duke!
I always *loathed* how this show handled pets other than dogs.
I can't really pick a favorite pet. I love most of them. I've always wanted a ferret, but can't because I live in California
Mike must be a dog person
I'm a dog lover myself, but only because they can be such big goofy fuzzy babies!
Dogs will love you forever if you treat them right. Cats become assholes after their teen phase
Ugh, this ep.
Everything wrong with the later Koth eps and this is one of it.
Hank's overall naivety of his patriotism has given him a severe case of tunnel vision that he doesn't check before he acts.
He should've signed up AFTER his vacation and not put Peggy and Bobby through dire straights because of Hank's tomfoolery.
Plus, it comes across as ignorant with Hank's aversion towards cats (nothing wrong with having a preference, just make sure you have common sense) as not "manly", but only prefers a specific breed of dogs, plus is the soilder who owns Duke not manly for preferring cats, has hank thought of wild cats like Tigers and Lions in the same degree?
And also, since Hank's covering the expensives, its only fair to get reimbursed, Hank's too much of a pincushion, like you stated, Hank had options but refused to consider them.
I love both cats and dogs as even though I never own neither, I still like them regardless.
Also, lucky you for getting to travel often.
The financial issue ruins the episode for me every time. Are they saying that not only do they take care of the animal for free, but are burdened with any food/medical expenses as well?
If I signed up for this, I wouldn't spend a cent without signing a document saying I'd be reimbursed. Or better yet, a burner credit card.
The only thing I liked about this episode was the giant W for Bills self confidence for a while.
I’m not a cat person but I don’t hate them either. Duke was a bad behaved pet. I honestly don’t hate the episode because it shines light on how corrupt vets can be especially the “new age” vets. The real villains was Duke being insufferable and his preferred vet scamming Hank every step of the way. I experienced a similar situation with my dog in the past. So it’s very relatable to me in that aspect plus the episode gives Bill a win in the whole fiasco
Cotton: 😂
I like the part where hank kills reverand stroop and gets sentenced to life in prison for murder
We all know that never happened 🙄 sthu
@@AngryKidaardman1998 but it did happen because i said so
I completely agree with this. It was the one show in which I really disliked Hank. At least poor Duke got to go back to his owner.
Two unanswered questions in this episode:
1 where was ladybird?
2 what WAS that shrew-possum-looking thing in the waiting room?
I think you're exaggerating how much people hate this episode, Church Hopping and Lupe's Revenge are way more hated
Get your freak off deserves more hate too because Hank was a joke in that episode. Taking away all of Bobby’s stuff, ruining his date with Jordan, crashing teens party and turning it into a child party and humiliating Bobby. My dad would be dead if he ever did any of that to me.
@@AngryKidaardman1998 Agreed, I think that's one of Hank's absolute worst moments
The only good thing about this episode is that bill came out on top
I always chuckle at the scenes where Bill coaches Rex for the dog show
I grew up with a very, very mean and crazy dog in my neighborhood, so it took until I spent time with my boyfriend's family after college to be okay with any dog bigger than a corgi.
I love the name Duke for a cat. I cat sat a cat named Duke once. Also a Little Man, which is also a good name for a cat.
How could you mention that Family Guy has the couch as starting without mentioning that The Simpsons does too
When I volunteered at my local humane shelter there was an option to say that you were okay to with looking after cats only, dogs only, or cats and dogs. Unless that army charity didn't really look over Hank's form, there should have been a check box that said "Dogs only".
So maybe instead of the Vacation plot. Have Army send over Duke. Hank first complains about being given a cat instead of a dog, and they give the commitment argument. It was briefly mentioned that Bill also is in contact with Buster's owner so the owner could keep track of how things are going. So maybe Hank gets a call from Duke's owner, the owner learns that the Hill's were given an animal they didn't know how to take care of or understand because they are dog people. This could cause the owner to call the army about this and the army then realizes there was a mix up and that Hank's application did say "Dog's only".
Perhaps Hank saw a list of pets that needed boarding and saw the name Duke, since Duke is a name you would associate with a dog on first guess he decides to take that one. Is asked vague questions such as does he understand how to handle the pet, does he have the means to take care of the pet, does he have any one who has pet allergies. Bobby does have allergies to dog dander or rather pet dander. But Hank might say no since to him admitting his son has allergies is the same as outright stating his son is a sissy. Plus he doesn't want to appear unable to fullfill his patriotic duty and lose the chance to look after Duke or be given something that he can't understand as a pet I.E. a rabbit or a reptile. Then when Duke arrives, Hank is disappointed to know Duke is a cat. When in reality the charity would be at fault for just having the name of the pet and not indicating what sort of animal it was. Or maybe there was a displayed photos of the pets, but the one of Duke had been knocked down or hadn't been posted up up which also could lead to the confusion
Like your suggestion, Bobby and Peggy decide to take it upon themselves to look after Duke. Then then the owner checks in on how Duke is doing, Hank says he is having trouble taking care of the cat because when he saw the name of the pet he thought he was looking after a dog. The owner then says they could work things out with the charity organization about the confusion, but offers some suggestions on what to do about Duke in the mean time. Such as some cats need to sniff your hand to see if your someone they can trust or some become less anxious with some treats or cat nip. This gets Hank to learn to enjoy Duke's company, and when Charity comes to collect Duke and appologize for the misunderstanding, Hank admits that he and Duke kinda became buddies during the short time they had together. So if they don't have anyone who could look after Duke, then he would be willing to offer his patriotic support.
I got my dog back in middle school, then growing my family attracted a lot of cats mostly kittens from strays in our own yard apartment, which is how we got our three cats

I’m a cat lover, but dogs are a very close second.
There are several places to stop between Memphis and Nashville i think there are atleast 2 one in Jackson and im not sure where the other is closer into Nashville.
idk if these charities do or dont do this, but you gotta give an acclimation time for the new care takers so this exact scenario doesn't happen. With the real owner present and everything
Makes sense tbh.
Hank Hill is definitely a dog person I’ll tell you what. LOL
This episode just made me realize, even if the Hills didn’t get a cat, what were the chances they would have gotten a dog Hank doesn’t approve of like a poodle?
You should do a archer video essay.
I'm more of a cat person, but I also have a dog and of course I love both my cat and my dog. He does have a lot in common with cats. He doesn't really bark unless something upsets him and he's affectionate, but more like a cat is. He doesn't really like it unless he chooses to. Also, a lot of people don't even realize that he's a dog, I've gotten asked if he is a fox, which he clearly is not. I don't think we even have foxes around here.
My question is was there no preference thing so Hank to avoid a cat at all costs
5:00 oh my god I never realised this but you're right! I'm a sperg but you'd think that'd help me identify with Hank - Hank is 100% on the spectrum, most logical fan theory there is and as someone with ASD with OCD being a co-morbidity (or possibly hereditary, as my dad was the most OCD person I've ever met), that honestly resonates with me so hard, god damn... peace from Australia
I would make a gi joe joke mostly because theres a character named duke
My little dogs back legs gave out and he just kinda dragged them with his front legs so I took 2 roller blades and was making those exact same back leg wheels but my mom ran him over before I could finish. It wasn't her fault, Henry was less than a foot tall and always ran in front of the car like a dummy. Only reason my current dog hasn't had the same fate is because he's over 3 feet tall. Some dogs are really smart but I'm sorry most dogs are incomprehensibly unintelligent. My dalmatian slammed its face into the same spot on the same wall for half a decade for No Reason, he left an indent in the wall after Years I mean WHY! Where's the logic or reason!?
Wait , SNL is a sketch show , it can't have a starting point. Red couch ? Wait, don't you mean The Simpsons
i unsubscribed from finding out she isnt a furry, this hurts my soul as much as it breaks my heart.
Your dumb
The bad ones really come in the later seasons
I never thought king of the hill would go this route.
Yeah personally I was primarily a cat person as a kid and only prefer specific dog's. Yeah this episode definitely has some issues.
You should definitely come down to Lakehurst we have the Great Lake Horicon that runs along the Lakehurst Naval Air Station here in New Jersey
I like dogs better. cats are okay, but nothing beats the loyalty of a dog.
Nice distraction after jamming my finger catching a football.
Honestly, the way the episode could have been salvaged was:
1. Perhaps Hank could specify that he prefers to watch dogs
2. He could have waited for after his family vacation to do something like this
3. He could let go of the patriotism boner and just not do anything
Remember folks, the worst wet food is better than the best dry food for cats
I also realized that they took on Duke’s expenses because Hank didn’t want the money taken out of the owner’s combat pay. That had me fuming because it cemented the fact that Hank ruined his own vacation.
14:04 Fire alarms, sirens and vacuums are the worst!
Duke!
Don't blame just Hank because Cats suck 😜
They really do. They’re such entitled assholes that think they’re the only animals that matter and they get to do whatever they want yet if the dog does it then it gets in trouble
Hank and Peggy being miserable brings me such joy, and this episode made me so happy. 😊
Wait … Hank had a cat? 🤯🤯🤯 Guess I’m learning something new today!
Thanks for the new video Kitty Monk and hug your furbabies all 💙🐱💙
18 bucks is cheap! I winder what he spends for ladybird.
Also that fact the cat is outside in the show in a unknown areas peeves me it didnt run away, better plot to find and understand the cat
2 things: I'm a cat person period. I truly feel I was a cat in my past life, hell I'm a cat now 😂but the second thing is this: if LADYBIRD is such a part of the family why are they not taking her with them on vacation? Like REAL dog people take their dogs everywhere. So plan a trip where the dog can go too. Not that hard. That always bothered me with this episode
Genius observation
Ladybird is 13 she can't be going on a days long drive so she can be miserable on a vacation. "Real dog people" are understanding of different circumstances.
Jason Bateman has a whole e in the middle of his last name and you thought it was pronounced 🦇🧍♂️ ? Ok.
Hank Hill is Patriotic
Omg Kitty Mong, you should definitely review the dog dancing episode! It's another episode where Hank eats humble pie and Bobby gets to tell off his dad and is considered in the right
I love that one. Perfect karma for Hank after his bs in “get your freak off” which came out before “dances with dogs”
Valid criticism on all the episodes all those people don’t like but I will stand by and say “goodbye normal jeans” is a good episode until I’m cold and dead in the ground.
Honestly if they focused more on hank thinking a man only marries to have a glorified caregiver, or if the hairdresser told Peggy she was overreacting, then it would be better.
@@KittyMonk I totally understand that, I think that allows the story to wrap up with a neater bow with Peggy reigning in her insecurity and it would allow Hank to come to a better understanding with Bobby’s homemaking skills instead of pushing them away to validate Peggy’s in the grand scheme
Kitty just ask in a future reference would you do a livestream series retrospect of some videos and revisits? Just wondering to ask live opinions start with small videos at least
My cat acts like this but he dosent let you pet him, if you do he lets you do it for a second then sinks his Claws and teeth into my arms
I have a dog and cat and they're the best of friends
Is one of them happen to be named catdog? Legit cause thatd be cool name for a cat or a dog tbh.
My experience with pets comes with dogs; I had a good experience with two, but I haven't had one with others, like with cats. Also, I wanted to say Dr. Leslie could've helped Hank understand how to care for a cat and their behavior rather than giving him those tests and that cat cart.
You're not a furry. OBVIOUSLY. You just have an animated fursona of an anthropomorphic animal.
Not like a furry in ANY WAY.
What always irritated me about the episode is that Hank was supposed to do everything to help the cat, and he watched it for free. But he got zero financial help from the government for vet visits. At the very least he should have been reimbursed.
That's the problem, claiming to be a cat owner. The correct answer is being owned by a cat.
No it isn’t. If the dog, fish, hamster, etc doesn’t own you neither does the cat. Animals don’t own anyone and correct me if I’m wrong but cats ARE animals. Therefore they own no one.
@@AngryKidaardman1998Jesus dude, nice attempt to kill the fun 😒😒😒

im sorry WHO said that bobby goes nuts was a bad episode??? its consistently ranked as one of the best episodes of the show
THATS MY PURSE!
This episode irritates me so much... the doctor is clearly abusing Hank's naivete to harm a perfectly healthy animal for money. "Do no harm", right, fuck this guy
It is hilarious to watch Kitty try to understand the US government not caring about their citizens
I love all animals! Except for bugs!
