I thought you'd have to make sure the position of the screws as long screw damage is always a concern with iPhones.

i have the same exact problem ;but i brought it back from brick to life; sounds like you have an aftermarket lcd/screen put in and it worked fine till you updated ios (11.0.0) which forces the iphone to re-authenticate all the hardware attached to it ; now you can either enable an onscreen home button from Settings->General->Accessibility->Assistive Touch(which nobody wants to do) or buy an aftermarket LCD which features an OEM IC Chip in the LCD and is available on ebay and amazon. Oem ic chip in the LCD authenticates the Touch ID and either enable or disable it(it also sometimes put your phone in boot loop before disabling the Touch ID)
this only works if you have the original Touch ID button which came with the phone , no aftermarket touch id buttons work because they have to be programmed with the phone's motherboard and only Apple have the machine to do that,
you cannot program a aftermarket touch id button/sensor period. (doesn't matter if it was disabled before; if it was disabled before then put the phone in DFU/restore mode and reinstall the ios again to re-enable your original touch id button with oem ic chip on the lcd)
and the aftermarket screen you have installed now will not gonna work for sure if it doesn't have oem ic chip in the LCD

if you didnt get it from apple or one of its authorized repair shops (in US is BestBuy) then is not original

Load of rubbish. Doesn't show the correct start up procedure of an iPhone. You turned it on and it was instantly on the main menu?? Fake iPhone??
